Great location for our needs. 4min from train station. 20min walk to downtown. This is similar to a hostel, sharing bathroom and kitchen - which always makes me nervous. While some of the place is dated. It was clean and staff were friendly. One bathroom was older and the other modern (3rd floor) pics of bathroom.  You hear a train like every hour starting at like 8am.  But aside from that- it was perfect for our needs

Great spot

This hotel is minimal, but exactly what we needed. The room is a decent size and the shared bathrooms were clean and spacious. The staff was amazing, they helped us check in at a very late hour (11pm-ish?) and when we wanted to hold our bags there after check out, they gladly accommodated us. 

Great stay

Wonderful place to stay, friendly and helpful manager. We stayed here after a tour through Alaska. Good bus service. Clean rooms, kitchens were awesome,bathroom and showers were clean. Ingra is located in a 'less desirable' neighborhood, but we did not feel at all threatened or unsafe. There is plenty to find within walking  distance, restaurants, rental bikes, shops, grocery store, etc. We highly recommend. 

Clean and inviting, excellent management.

Based on the name, I expected a hotel. However it is more like a hostel.  We arrived after midnight and the key was waiting for us in the mail box outside the door.  There was no one at the desk. We slept late and the kitchen was already closed and locked.  Not that it mattered, because we had no food to prepare anyway.  The lady at the desk was very nice and friendly, but the man was curt and unhelpful. There are bathrooms down the hall with showers.  Everything was clean and tidy. The taxi driver told us it is 'not a good area of town'.

Definitely different than I expected

This hotel has private rooms but shared bathrooms. The rooms are clean and there is wifi. The beds are comfortable. The staff is friendly and checking in and out is efficient. The curtains aren't really sufficient to keep out Alaska's sunlight across the long hours, or the artificial lights around the hotel. Also, the walls are thin and you can hear everyone moving in the central hallway. Fortunately, during my stay there were no loud people out there after midnight.

Economical hotel, located just outside of downtown

We had a quick night rest here. The location is about a mile to the convention center so it worked out well for us. As expected the accommodations were basic. The shared bathrooms were readily available during our stay and were pretty clean. The only complaint about our stay was that the sheets had stains on them so it was kind of nasty. It was late at night so we slept with our clothes on and dealt with it as is.

Quick Stopover

Great value for the price!  My friend and I stayed for 2 nights.  The rooms were very clean and included a refrigerator.  Mattresses could be replaced as they were quite old.  Microwaves, coffeemakers (with coffee) and 2 stoves in each kitchen.  There was a shared bathroom, which was mostly very clean.  However, the shower floor and bathmat were nasty dirty and neither of us would shower there.  Our last morning, the shower floor was clean, but we were already packed.  The staff and even other guests were very friendly and accommodating.  My car had been in storage all winter and the battery died right after we arrived.  They tried to help by using 2 different sets of jumper cables and 2 different cars.  I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Super helpful staff

Ingra House Hotel WAS a great place to stay.... BUT, since the covid-19 pandemic started, Ingra House has since become infested with bed bugs, drug addicted bums, and some of the staff are freaking out because of the pandemic and taking out their anger on innocent guests (like Mike the owner- who screamed about how he's "losing money because of covid-19). Also, the main manager, "Max" Sweeney seemed like a kind man at first- but it turned out Max is very two-faced, and he has prejudice against people with disabilities (ableism and sanism are his main choices of bigotry, which is discrimination towards people with disabilities). Max was often nice and friendly to my face, but would badmouth me behind my back. I know this because some of the other guests told me he did this. I also observed Max behaving the same way towards other hotel residents- friendly to their face, then talking crap about them behind their back to other guests and staff. I get it- everyone is freaking out over covid-19 and losing money. 

BUT, that doesn't make it alright for Max and Mike the owner to take out their anger on guests who have nothing to do with any of that. Max treats his cat, Smokey, with more kindness than he treats people with disabilities- he treats people with disabilities like they're wild animals that he threatens with police brutality when they don't bend the knee to him and take his verbal abuse in silence. Despite the bed bugs, drug addicts, etc. 

I would have enjoyed my stay at Ingra House- if it wasn't for the bigotry and ableist discrimination and two-faced behavior that I had to endure from Mike the owner and Max the manager. Max is the type of guy who let's the power of authority go to his head and he brags about using police violence to remove unwanted guests from "his property". 

Edward "Max" is like Eric Cartman from South Park- "Respect my authoritah!". 

Well, no! I do not respect your "authority" nor do I care for your bigotry, Max. 

And since Max and Mike the owner are white and there are almost no Black guests at Ingra House, I suspect Mike/Max to be a little racist on top of the ableism. Mike and Max both disrespect the Assistant manager, Mike (a black man), and they both talk down to him like he is an indentured servant. 

You know what "Max" and Mike? Black Lives Matter. Trans Lives Matter. Disabled Lives Matter. Understand, you white men who have let power and greed go to their heads? 

Good luck with the bed bug infestation... the next place I rent from, I will make sure they are bed bug free before plunking down $1,000 to live in a place where I get bitten in my sleep. In light of ALL THAT- I have sadly had to change my original reviews from 5 stars to 1 star. 

It's too bad... Smokey the cat is an awesome kitty and he deserves to have an owner who isn't two-faced or a raging bigot. I am sending good vibes and positive energy to both Smokey and Mike, the assistant owner who still has to endure those two-faced bosses of his and stay silent when he witnesses their abuse towards guests- because if Mike didn't stay silent, he would lose his job and housing.

Very helpful staff, clean, pleasant, and convenient.  we were able to walk to restaurants, and venues easily.  Rather noisy with the windows open on the street side, but moved across the hall and much better.  We didn’t use the kitchen though it looked  clean and well outfitted 

Anchorage hostel

Great budget hotel! Room, bathroom & kitchen was clean. Close to convenient store, fast food, herb shop and bus line. 15 minute walk to Downtown Anchorage. Staff was friendly & helpful. Mahalo Max & Ingra House
