Answer....they weren’t!!!  My bad for NOT insisting on seeing the room...THEIR bad for not even listing this place.  1/2 the property is closed and people are living in most of the rest....room was large, didn’t smell bad HOWEVER the furniture should have been thrown our YEARS ago and plumbing issues addressed!!  

What WAS TripAdvisor thinking to list this property???

Ever watch those horror shows where a couple checks in and either get terrorized or acquire a horrible disease?
Well you found one here. 
Dirty, smells, broken furniture, moving balcony, simply disgusting. 
Plan ahead and stay somewhere else.

Motel H**l

We were expecting just a simple, clean , and comfortable room for the price.  When we arrived you could easily see the building needed help but office staff was friendly and nice.  The balcony seemed to move as you walked on it.  Our room was dark and musty smelling.  TV wouldn't work at first.  Carpet and furniture was stained and had seen many years of abuse and although I'm sure it was vacuumed it made you scared to sit on it or walk on it without shoes.   Bathroom was slightly upgraded.  Walls were filthy and there was bug/poison traps on the floor.  Was very disappointed with the quality and mad that we were even charged $70.  Had there been another room available in town we would have left immediately.  Would never recommend to family or friends.  Not at all worth any slight savings from another hotel!

Do NOT book with children!

Terrible service at check in, did not smile, just went through the motions. Parking lot was full of pot holes. Online photo is very deceiving, it is a run down dive. We had no cold water, so water was either hot or scalding. No cable in room. Uncomfortable beds and it had not been updated in years.

Don't stay here.

My first impressions weren't too far off from some of the negative reviews here but they didn't last. The property is dated and there is some minor maintenance needed here and there and there was even a very slight musty smell when I entered the room. But it was quite clean and the bathroom, which some reviews had me expecting to be unpleasant and threadbare was anything but. It was immaculate and bright and the towels, while not super fluffy 5 star hotel caliber, were pretty darned nice.

Clean and reasonably priced

Broke down on I-80 & got towed to shop in town then caught a ride to this motel from the tow truck driver. The room is large & clean. The bed is comfortable--the sheets are fine; cover is old but clean. The bathroom is also clean & besides being noisy there are no problems there with sufficient hot water/pressure. The rooms are smoke free so folks go outside to smoke (hence, I saw a couple of people standing next to their room smoking). The upstairs neighbor walked a lot and it was pretty loud.  The heat was either full blast nonstop or off. The person at the front desk was great.  We'll probably be here another night or two. There is a steakhouse next door that will serve breakfast today (Sunday) til 2 pm. Overall this place is serviceable--somewhat run down but clean.  I am not finding it at all "scary."  Having a fridge, microwave & a pretty large room is great; I can't get the wifi on my gen 2 iPad but can on my phone.
