The best hospitality you’ll find. Eva, working on Christmas Eve, greeted us with a warm welcome. A true profession who made us feel truly at home. The entire hotel has many charming spots to relax, have a beverage, read, and watch the many views. Pier looked out for us, attention to every detail. We could not have asked for more. Staying at Mt. Ada was like experiencing another lifetime. I hope it never goes away so we can come back soon! Btw, food was incredible. Outside patios were divine. Catalina did not disappoint! People, food, landscapes, and hikes well worth our four nights over Christmas. 

Dipped into a divine other lifetime 

Honestly, as a well worn travel photographer, I'm accustomed to experiencing barriers to covering certain hotels for any number of reasons, but I do believe this is the first hotel in LA County that I've found bars ANYONE but guests from visiting the hotel grounds. I guess they don't want those damned dirty commoners mixing with the higher bred  and moneyed or something. 

Anyway, I WAS planning to stay here on my third trip to Catalina Island, but I'm going to give it a pass. There are plenty of lovely hotels in town. I was pleased with my bayfront view at the Belanca Hotel, for example.

Also, can you believe they advertise a restaurant but it's not open to the public? I've never experienced this level of snobbery, not at the Chateau Marmont, The Beverly Hills Hotel, or any of the other fine locations in SOCAL.

A home away from those damned dirty commoners

One of absolute favorite spots to have lunch on their patio and gawk at the incredible view of Avalon Bay and the Pacific. My family has stayed at the hotel also as we have been vacationing there yearly for 40 yrs. The hotel is equally as pleasurable an experience. Book your non-guest lunch 6 mos. in advance! 

Over the Top accomodations and view for lunch!! 

From the minute they pick you up at the dock in their Mercedes van, until they drop you off to catch your boat home, no request is too big for the staff. Everyone is assigned an electric golf cart with their room, this is huge, because of the location on a steep hill, walking would take up a lot of time and energy.

Sublime experience with Bespoke service, expensive but worth it

This was our second stay at Mt. Ada, and though there seem to be some changes afoot in terms of ownership and management, none of that affected the experience of our stay.   The home and grounds are beautiful, as you might expect, and, within the context of it being a truly historic place, it is also well maintained with attention to the period during which it was built and used.  

The staff is phenomenal in every way.  They are knowledgeable about the property and history and Wrigley family, they greet you by name and make sure you get a tour of the facilities and amenities upon arrival, and go out of their way to be cheerful and helpful at all times.   The views are fantastic, as are the breakfast and lunch including with the room.   They even set up a complimentary coffee and mimosa bar outside the guest room each morning and provide a complimentary wine and cheese "happy hour", of sorts, each afternoon.  Guests (there are six guest rooms) get full access to the home, including 24/7 access to a butler's pantry well-stocked with beer, wine, snacks, ice cream, glassware, etc.    Carmen does an amazing job preparing breakfast and lunch - you will not likely eat better anyplace on the island!      In the end, Mt. Ada seems to understand that, while they have a great and historic property and great views, it is the attention to details and service that bring guests back again and again.  I expect will be will back, too!

A magical place with incredible views and incredible service

This was a uniquely pleasant experience at a superb historical residence overlooking Avalon, with a steady sea breeze on the room balcony to keep the temperature mild during the hotter ("dog") days of late Summer. The staff provided much more than anticipated in terms of dockside pickup and drop off, detailed explanations of the location and history of the estate, and impeccable service throughout our stay. It truly felt as though we lived there, if only for a few days. It had nothing of the standard "hotel vide", rather an upscale B'n'B feeling.

Sincere Attention of Mt Ada Staff

The inn at Mt. Ada on Catalina Island is a bucket list vacation for any romantic.  William Wrigley Jr. built and stayed in this 6 room mansion overlooking Avalon Bay.  There’s real history there, and the staff will make your stay a lifetime memory.  Brandon was the main concierge, and attended to our every need.  Christian and Pierre waited on us like we were royalty.  Consider the fact that breakfast, lunch, wine and cheese and a golf cart are all included in your room pricing.  You will be so glad you stayed there.  We got married there!

A lifetime memory!

I can't rave about this place highly enough. We were there for a family wedding & had the entire place to ourselves. From the beautiful grounds to the comfortable accommodations to the spectacular views - just astounding! But the real gem of the place is the awesome staff who take such conscientious care of you without ever feeling intrusive. Honestly, they felt like they were part of our party! Camryn, Brendan, Pier & Christian were all so friendly, helpful & knowledgeable! From answering questions about the history of the home, helping book tours, serving our beautiful breakfast, lunch, and cocktail hour menus, to keeping the hot cookies coming all week! We felt truly spoiled Each of us took turns checking out the others' rooms (all so beautiful, unique & cozy, and with their own fun stories). I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this spectacular place!

Expectations Blown Away!

We had the privilege of staying here in January of this year when we got married.  The service and attention to detail is unsurpassed.  The food exceptional.  We plan on returning for our 1 year anniversary.  

Perfection

Based upon a recommendation from a reliable source, I was extremely excited about vising Mt. Ada and staying in the Wrigley Suite. Knowing how picky this person is, my expectations were high. Granted the view from the balcony is to die for, but the condition of the room for $1,250.00 per night was extremely disappointing. We arrived to a Lysol sprayed room that took hours to get the smell out. The couch was 20 years old and when you sat down on it you could feel the springs popping through. But the piece de resistance was the disgusting condition of the bathroom complete with an undersized and worn out toilet seat, cracked shower tile complete with mold, and let's not forget the beat-up windows.
