BEWARE!! I'll give a negative star if possible! Thunderbird charged me even though I cancelled my booking within the cancellation period.  I called a few times and told them what happened and spoke with different people every time who tells me the same thing, that they will inform the manager and just wait for a call back but nobody ever called me back... I guess this hotel intentionally just don't want to return my money back even though they are aware that they charged me by mistake so beware!

My friend and I were passing through town and just needed a clean quiet yet inexpensive place to sleep. This place was perfect! Our room was recently updated and very clean. The person checking us in was friendly and offered restaurant suggestions. (The Log Cabin was great!) My only wish was that the pillows were fluffier.  Otherwise a great little retro motel.

Pleasantly Surprised

Spent a weekend here on a trip to the international crane foundation. First thing was nobody was at counter to greet us. Had to call on a lobby phone to get checked in.
We then got to room to find two lights not working and no microwave despite saying to room had one. The tv worked the first night after we connected the hdmi cable, cause it was disconnected. Then it ceased to work at all.
Key stopped working on day two, and apparently housekeeping thought we were checking out early. 
Despite all of this the staff was very nice the entire time we were there.

On my Sunday visit I found no cigarette smell, a quiet room, strong AC with constant fan option, good wifi, smooth checkin, grocery 2 doors down and a shower high enough for a 6-footer. I have stayed here several times to visit Devil's Lake State Park and to ride my road bike. I have never been disappointed with my accomodations.

Works for me

Great place to stay. Has better price then other i. Town. No cigarette smell in room, comfortable bed and good location.good wifi signal and speed. Under renovation every time i came see some room updates. Nice and hot water.

Great place

The pictures of this motel are very deceiving. The room was smelly (like old cigarette smoke). The linen was old, stained, and had holes in it. Bring your own pillow if you want a decent one. The wall, where I think there was supposed to be a smoke detector or alarm, had a hole in it. The coffee pot was dirty. The good things: nice hot shower and nice viewing selection on TV. The refrigerator and microwave were both clean. We tolerated it for one night.

Better than nothing

Chose The Thunderbird because it was pet friendly. No where on the website did it say there was an extra $25 charge. Pet owners beware there is also a $20 charge if you do not tell them you have a pet. The room was clean. No dust, sink, tub, sheets and bedspread all in good shape. Three of the four walls had a new coat of paint the third had dents in it. The toilet seat was broken. It had only one screw holding it down. The corner lamp did not work properly the switch was broken and would not stay on. I unplugged it for safety reasons. The ice machine was broken and the outside needed quite a bit of picking up. With tax our cost was just under $100. We will not be going back very under whelming.

Clean but not worth it.

I stayed here as a buddy I was visiting nearby reserved a room for me. Its quite close to a decent grocery store and the wifi was very fast. Even though my room was non smoking it smelled of cigarettes. I think if the bedding was replaced, along with the carpet, the smell would go away. Not sure if I'd stay again, my buddys home remodeling will most likely be done the next time I visit overnight.  All that being said its  a cheap place for those visiting the nearby Wisconsin dells 

This place was ok 

We found this motel last minute for our holiday vacation. Rates are reasonable. Our room was clean and comfortable. It's conveniently located to restaurants and gas station. We enjoyed the fireworks show from the motel balcony. We enjoyed our stay and will return in the future.

July 4th family vacation

Location is good but room smelled like old cigarette smoke. Beds and pillows weren't very comfy. Noisy neighbors above us. We were on the ground floor and heard footsteps and talking through the night from the rooms above us. The woman who checked us in was very nice and friendly. I felt safe here. And the bathroom has a tub, which is a plus for me.
