I'm not sure how I stumbled onto this Indian-owned property, except the price was very good.  I was uncertain enough about the coming overnight stay that I asked the owner to show me the room beforehand.  What I can say is I had a comfortable stay in my amply (but not over) stocked, clean, simple but quite roomy room.  For $62 I got a comfortable stay.  But given this former Knights Inn was owned by an Indian proprietor whose command of English wasn't great, I may have gotten a decent room because I kept my eyes open ... and stayed away from nearby guest who snarled at me and my dog the following day.  Shop carefully and be careful.

Checking the room beforehand worked for me.

We only stayed for 1 night. The place seemed pretty empty. We needed a bottom room and someone was placed directly over us with boots and pets. Next door, that person had pets that needed to be constantly talked to. It looked like they put all people in one little area for their convenince. A washrag was left in the shower before us and gum was in the sink. I passed on the "breakfast". Looks like a few people might live here but it was cheap for 1 night.

Really disappointing place

If you want a cheap place this the place to go. As far clean rooms, they were filthy  floors not sweep or vacuumed, furniture not wiped down, tub had hair and previous guest shampoos a d body soap. Toilet was horrible..the 2 older mexican housekeepers were very friendly,and didn't hesitate to let me use cleaning supplies so I could clean my own room..

Not happy with our stay

I stayed for 8 months at this property based on the availability of the kitchenette  room, while working in the Bay City area.
The first room that I had was full of roaches.  I told the desk clerk and was offered no relief so I went to Walmart and got 3 roach foggers and set them off in the room.  I returned 4 hours later and spent the remainder of the evening cleaning up dead roaches.  Thinking that I had gotten them cleared out, I later learned that I hadnt...  We later found an entire nest of roaches behind the refrigerator and killed as many as we could while they scurried in every direction.
Eventually,  someone checked out of one of the other kitchenette rooms and we relocated only to find cigarette burns in the carpet, furniture and bedding. Also, there were bullet holes in the ceiling and in the wall. 
As a whole,  the property in a bad condition. There is always trash in the parking lot and other guests stand around outside drinking until late at night.
Overall, I would choose to stay in another city if this was the only property that had available rooms in Bay City.  Making a longer drive to work is better than enduring they stay that I had at this Knight's Inn.

Furthermore,  if you plan on accumulating points as a Wyndham Rewards member, the only time you will receive points is if you spend the full price for the room. If you negotiate a lower price, you will not receive your points.  I spent over $12,000 during my extended stay and did not earn a single point.



Nasty property 

Management gets 3 stars, the building gets 1 star. 
We are here for 2 or 3 months for work so we needed a kitchenette. The little fridge coolers here are insufficient for living. We had to go into Sugarland to buy a 10 cu ft refrigerator. No one rents them in this town without a 3 or 6 month prepay commitment, and the ones for sale are large home fridges. 
The room we got is in the unrenovated building of the property, where they have kitchenettes. I saw roaches coming out of unsealed wall plugs by kitchen area and near bed. I made maintenance patch all the holes (also unsafe) and I bleached every surface. Then a water pipe burst in the room next to ours. Apparently it's an old problem that they keep putting a band-aid on until they do an overhaul. The mold was heavy and bad from the water because the carpets are extremely old and dirty. After 2 water vacuums, door open and carpet fans going for 2 days, it did nothing to dry it up due to high humidity in this town. We had to sleep in our car by night 3 after coming back late one evening (getting a fridge) because mgmt was locked up for the night. So they moved us to a regular room the next day. After a month in the nicer, updated room, I started seeing bed bugs in my bed. I captured one in a baggie and showed mgmt. They treated the room with regular pesticide and a good vacuum, changing the mattress covers, padding and sheets. Problem solved. 

Outside walkways are not kept clean. Ice machine drains gallons of water after each use of getting ice. Beach is 20 miles south of town. Mostly a long pier for fishing.

Did I mention that I had to buy all our own towels, wash rags, pillows and cases because theirs were horribly old, dingy and well used ? I instructed maid service to only wash inside of toilet and vacuum because the first time they cleaned my room smelled like wet dog. Sadly, they didn't listen to "Do not touch my towels and pillow cases". I separate my stuff from theirs, but still they took away my new pillow case and towels. 
Although mgmt is concerned and friendly and well aware of the problems, and do their best to accommodate our situation, it's an old building and not in good shape. There's not enough "nice" to make this place livable. I really tried to make this work and so did mgmt. I'd move out but every hotel is booked up and we don't get a refund on monthly advance payments. That's posted on the wall. This building is riding on the lines of slum conditions.

Internet/wi-fi  was horrible and mostly unusable - it won't ever connect. I got tired of complaining so we live on our phone data plan and hot spot.

Don't expect much

Friendly owner.  .... maintenance problems this is a motel for construction workers on the road or everything else is full. Sorry but it's a last resort I'm really tired choice. The room is sufficient on its best day.  The faucet dripped ( a lot!) In my room. I won't stay there again . The only thing for me was being able to make a wyndham reservation. ... pictures were less than accurate. 

Somewhere else if you can

We recently had to travel for my husband's job. The original motel I reserved was disgusting so we went looking for another and found this one. Our beds were new the room was overall ok the only thing is they need to get some new sheets they were dingy looking but smelled clean overall an ok value for the money.

Good motel for the money

A friend who works here in Bay City on construction told us he was staying here and it was ok. Checked in late one night and reserved 2 nights. I was scared to close my eyes. We got a non- smoking room because smoke makes me sick. The room smelled like one huge, old stale cigarette. I wouldn't take my shoes off. The carpet had a huge burn hole in it. I really don't believe this room had been cleaned. I think the beds had been made after last person left. Smoke detector was disconnected and was behind the TV. The cooktop was rusted out. Hair on vanity. Stained towels. Bathroom had a big black mold spot on the ceiling. This room was just nasty.... I didn't turn the light off while I slept. I'm not sure if the room my friend was staying in had been re-modeled???? When we woke we checked out and was given refund on 2nd night. Check and see if rooms have been re-modeled before you pay.
