This lodge and adjacent condos overlook the rushing Rock Creek in a lovely, landscaped garden setting. We had considered cancelling our early July stay here, as three weeks previously, the town of Red Lodge and Yelllowstone Park had been flooded; local bridges and motels were washed out and the two north entrances to Yellowstone and the Beartooth highway were damaged and closed indefinitely. Cheery staff assured us that the damaged local roads and bridges were already reopened and that there was still good hiking outside the park.  Since the lodge’s restaurant, the Piney Dell, had been closed for some time, and the closest restaurant being five miles in town, I called to make sure our room had a microwave and refrigerator. As it did not, the front desk offered a complimentary upgrade to a studio, overlooking the Creek. Our three-day stay was very nice – our studio was spacious, with a murphy bed, living area and balcony.  The indoor pool with jacuzzi were sparkling. A continental breakfast, with plain yogurt and berries, muffins, coffee and juice, cereals, coffee and tea were provided. The staff were very friendly and helpful.  We learned that the property was for sale, and so hope that the new owners will re-open the restaurant -- essential to have if you are calling yourself a resort.

Beautiful Setting, No Flood Damage, No Restaurant

We spent 2 nights here during our family vacation, which happened to be over the July 4th weekend. The room rates were awesome compared to other locations. Our plans changed last minute due to flight delays, and the resort was so understanding and willingly to work with us.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is no a/c and the WiFi is spotty, but those are luxuries that weren’t needed for our stay. Because of the resort’s location, our rooms stayed cool, even during the heat wave that had hit the area.

The common outdoor areas are inviting and relaxing for guests. The pool and hot tub were great additions to our stay.

We even lost a cell phone during our visit at the resort, and the staff helped locate it for us while we were traveling through Yellowstone. VERY THANKFUL for their willingness to help!

Comfortable older resort in a beautiful location

Had a one night stay after traveling the Beartooth highway. What an incredibly serene, hidden gem. We stayed on a Monday night, there were surprisingly only a few other guests.  We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds, but especially the sound of that beautiful rushing creek right outside our balcony. Does sleep in a very long time.During the week, this is certainly a place to come to relax, explore the area, and recharge. We really wish we had more time to stay here. I have read reviews that the weekends, especially with weddings, can be a little noisy. But during the week this is an incredible place. Red Lodge itself seems like a fantastic little town. Would love to have a couple days to roam around the town & hiking trails and enjoy more of that fantastic food, such as the fabulous dinner at Prerogative Kitchen.

What a gem! Definitely want to come back.

Cute hotel in nice location, but old/dated room interior.  During slack season with tons of extra room, they put a family with 4 kids right over the top of our room. Stomping ALL-NIGHt-LONG.   Called twice to no avail.  Complained in the AM to a stodgy, no-mask-wearing front desk clerk who also didn't give a sh*t.  Though she was as dated as the furnishings, a simple "I'm sorry" would have gone a long way to ease our sleepless night.  Got nothing but "your check out is ready."

Worst Service

Not sure why this place has bad reviews. Maybe people’s expectations were different. This is an older, rustic Montana lodge, so we were expecting that. The front desk people were super friendly and helpful. They let us have late check out because we wanted to go for a morning hike. The rooms were very clean. We originally were given a room on the front- pond side. But my husband asked if we could switch to the back by the creek, which they did. We are used to hunting lodges, so this was great! If you are looking for a modern place, this is not it. But we wanted a simple, rustic, clean, friendly place outside of town. We recommend staying here. Plus the Old Piney Dell restaurant is on the property and we really enjoyed it as well! 

We recommend this rustic clean hotel

We stayed for 2 days just last week. Our balcony view to Bear Creek...AWeSOME! The front desk folks were great as well. Room was clean & cozy. Used the HotTub WhirlPool twice, had to after our walk up to Medicine Wheel & Devils Canyon, a MUST trip! Breakfast, as everywhere these days is basic filler food, but the front desk folks supplied me with Nana's for two days......If we ever return to the Red Lodge area (the last time we were there was 27 years ago), this is where we will stay, absolutley a Cool place to stay!

This Place is Tit'z

Hotel over promised amenities but under delivered during stay.  Room 205 no wifi, only available in lobby.  Never had a hotel with a commode plunger in the bathroom.  Ask front desk why?  Was told, " incase it was needed." Really?

Over promised, under delivered

I stayed with friends 5 nights at the Rock Creek resort.  The last 4 nights were spent in a quiet room at the end of the hall with a deck overlooking Rock Creek.  Absolutely great!  Peaceful, everything you want in a mountain resort.  Wi-fi worked well, although cell phone was spotty (at least for AT&T).  One of my friends had to do a day of work from the room and had no problems (and many compliments on the creek/mountain backdrop.

I reviewed the Piney Dell restaurant separately.  It is located on the premises in a century-old building (extended and remodeled over the years).  My parents went to dances there in the 1930s, which brought back pleasant memories.

nice escape

Stayed one night.  Our room was on the backside of one of the buildings overlooking the river/creek.  So pretty!!!  The grounds around the "resort" were very well maintained and pretty.  The room was a little outdated but very comfortable and clean.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  There is a restaurant on property but we chose to eat in town.  Only negative is that we could hear the people in the room above us (they were walking around like elephants).  We would stay here again!

LOVE this place!

This was a gorgeous resort where we heard the roaring river (not a creek) all night as we slept.  Beautiful views and river with a bridge and shore to dip our feet in.  We needed ice and they weren't doing ice machines during covid so the gal at the counter took our cooler to the kitchen and filled it for us.  She even brought it back in our room.  She must work out.  They were so cool and helpful.  One of the ladies gave us two Hoodies ($35 each) for free.  Very cool.  It was a reasonable price for all we received.  The town of Red Lodge is awesome as well.  10,947 feet.
