Called ahead to reserve a single bed room & she told us there were none. Coworker showed up and was given a one bed room right next door to us w/o calling. She said hotel was full but no one was there

Work Stay

We had rooms booked at the Victorian Inn, however due to their very poor management, they were overbooked and moved us to the Traveler's Lodge.  The only real positive thing I have to say about this place is the front desk lady was very accommodating and polite.  My friends room's air conditioner did not work and they promptly moved her an she did everything she could to accommodate us.  Other than that this is a pretty ran down place.  Our air conditioner was so loud we could not sleep.  The carpets were coming up off the floor, there were stains (only God knows what) all over the recliner, stains on the ceilings.  We had a smoke-free room, but it had probably been smoked in for 40 years before.  The place is just old and falling about.  I did not feel the safest here, but we survived.

I have been going to Beatrice for the last 5 years for the Spring Nationals at the Beatrice Speedway. I have stayed at this hotel for the last 5 years only because of a cheaper rate. This year was my final stay!! When I made my reservation, I was quoted a price. When I checked in, they jacked the rate up almost $25. There is no way I would have reserved this room for a rate of $99!! This also happened to at least 3 other people that I know of. When confronted about the rate, they wouldn't do anything. I also showed cheaper rates for the same nights online but those rates were also not honored! The room smelled bad when we walked in. The bathtub didn't seem very clean. The lighting is horrible! The lamp on the night stand between the beds flickered when it was on. Another lamp didn't have the light bulb screwed in all the way but when that was shut off, that lamp also flickered. When I went to take a shower, there was no shower curtain! I had to go to the front desk and ask for a shower curtain! Good thing I'm short or I would have had to duck in the shower! The beds in our room were very uncomfortable! I usually don't have a problem sleeping in most places but had a hard time sleeping here! Last year when I stayed, it seemed like they were trying to improve the place a little but I guess they're not! Not sure how this place is still open!!

We stayed in this hotel while in Beatrice for the eclipse (2017).  It was comfortable and clean.  It is not flashy, but was adequate for our group.  We enjoyed watching the eclipse in the courtyard behind the main building.  It is apparent that they are working hard to improve the facilities.

Eclipse Trip

I would never stay there again.  We went to Beatrice for the eclipse and this was available.  It had some scary full time residents that were into partying.  The attached bar was awesome and served great food.  The front staff was wearing an ankle bracelet and spent her night hanging out with the long term residents.  Was being renovated, which was a good thing....
