We planned a short weekend getaway to the Beaulieu House at Cat Island in April 2021. We chose the property because it was on the water and dogs were allowed. Upon arriving we called Ms. Diann and she came out promptly and showed us to our cozy home away from home. Our cottage was spacious and well equipped with all the necessities. The living room had a comfy love seat, wicker rocker and chair with ottoman. The kitchen had all the pots, pans, bowls, dishes and silverware needed to cook meals. Also, available were dish towels and soap. We cooked our meals the two night we stayed and breakfast our first morning. The bedroom was very spacious with a king size bed and extra blankets if needed. The bathroom was quite large with a walk-in shower. Towels were also provided for our stay. The private veranda had a great view of the water.

The location was quiet and nice for evening walks with the pup. We saw a dolphin and a school of sting rays both evenings during our stay. It was just a short drive to the Beaufort Waterfront and Hunting Island for day adventures. We would definitely recommend this cozy waterfront cottage if looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing getaway, especially if bringing a furry friend!

Cozy Get-a-way

What a find this was!   I have stayed in Beaufort countless times and have never seen this B&B offered!   It's the best of both worlds.   Nestled on Cat Island, (only 10 minutes from downtown Beaufort) with an incredible view of the river, this is was the height of relaxation.   My room was large, comfortable and had a big cushy chair with a reading lamp to snuggle into.   Best of all, was the screened porch with the amazing view.   I sat for hours and watched the water.  Breakfast was awesome and my host Tommy could not have been more accommodating.  By far, the 5 most relaxing days I have spent in a long time......Shopping and great restaurants were just minutes away.   I can't wait to go back, I don't think I will stay any where else when enjoying Beaufort. 

Hidden Gem!!!

This B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood near a golf course.  Room was lovely with a hammock facing the marsh.  Just a few miles from Bluffton or Beaufort for meals/sightseeing & near Hunting Island Park & the ocean.  Best part is that its pet friendly.   Recommend highly!

Great B&B for a quiet getaway

We had a wonderful stay at this charming bed and breakfast on Cat Island. The room was warm and inviting. The private, attached, screened in porch was an amazing bonus! We woke up to a view of the live oaks and the waterway beyond. It was like staying in a tree house! Can't say enough about the comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and very quiet. Tommy, the inn sitter,  was a delightful host ; providing wine and conversation in the evening and eggs Benedict cooked to perfection in the morning.

We loved the Beaulieu House!
Located on the inter-coastal waterway on quiet Cat Island, this B&B proved the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. 
Our room had a wonderful balcony, complete with hammock, from which to watch the wildlife, which included a raccoon, a heron and several dolphins, during our stay.
The house is not your typical, neat-as-a-pin historic home. The owner has a collection of hundreds of dolls, and lots of doll houses. Some would call it cluttered, but I'd say it's eclectic.
Our room and bathroom, which was large for a B&B, were both very clean. The towels had seen some use, but were also clean and fresh.
If you're super OCD, this might not be the place for you. If you're more laid back, like I am, and you're looking for a great place to relax, you'll love this place.
We sure did!
Oh, and the breakfasts were marvelous.

Relaxed, quiet, beautiful and a little bit quirky

This place had poor landscaping for starters.  What was there was dead or dying.
The cushions on the porches were faded and dusty.  The carpet in our room was dirty.  The pillows on the bed were just thrown on there with pillow cases and no pillow shams, not very classy! Shabby!
 It was chilly, so we got a blanket from our closet.  When we spread it out, it literally fell apart.  The office had dirty linens piled up on the floor in it and this was unattractive.  The main gathering room was charming and looked clean.   No one cleaned our room or made the bed during our 3 day stay.

Disappointing Stay

I never actually went.  This lace is right down the street from my brothers house.  I was interested because it was convenient.  My brother was terminally ill so I didn’t want to drive back and forth to a motel.  However, I got nervous when the proprietor asked me to bring cash and gave me different rates for the room.  I then read reviews which were terrible.  I ended up booking a motel for half the price.  The five mile drive was not a big deal to my brother’s place.  I even got a refund at the motel as I checked out a day early.  So, I can’t say for sure it’s a bad place.  Just check other reviews and use a credit card.

Didn’t go

We thought we were staying at a much-needed, quiet getaway for the weekend. It turned out to be very disappointing stay for one night, even though we paid for two. The room was mildewy, had broken furniture, a broken refrigerator in the bathroom, and had no basic amenities (no water or coffee, for example). After our arrival, the host informed us that she had decided it was just a "B" not a B&B. Despite the fact that we were told we could use the pool, the pool required a pass, which the host did not provide. We did not complete our stay.
