We booked at the property but found out the day of our travel we would actually be placed across the street in a small cabin because the lakeside property was closed. 

Misleading

I loved staying here. I didn't want to leave. The weather wasn't great (rainy and cold) but being able to cuddle in a nice bed with a fireplace was so comforting. The staff was so accommodating and kind. I needed a microwave and they provided one right away (available by request, when not in use by other rooms.)
The villages are across the street so we were able to go get food and lounge when we wanted. A great stay. Comfy bed, roomy shower, spacious room. Big screen TV.

Pictures don't do it just- so comfy!

Our favorite place is now even better; remodeled and redecorated.  We had spacious king room on parking level with private balcony overlooking the lake.  Comfortable bed and good bedside tables and lights, plenty of shelving, comfortable chair and light for reading.  Could have used more hangers in closet.  Little table with chairs for breakfast would have been nice.  Good counter space and shower head in bath.  Could have used more towel bars.  Glass partition in shower doesn't extend far enough across opening and water got all over the floor.

Best location

We were visiting Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino mountains and intended to explore the area the next day. We booked a room at the Marina Riviera right on the Lake and reached the hotel at about 3:15 p.m. Checking in was easy. The room was comfortable, with a nice view of the lake from the balcony. Unfortunately, our rental car had developed a problem just as we reached the hotel parking lot. A lot of time was spent seeking help. Finally, the rental car company said they would give us a replacement vehicle, but only at their nearest counter at the Ontario International Airport some 60 miles away. It was already dark, so we decided to give up the Marina Riviera room and seek a hotel near the car rental location. While we were thinking about the forfeited rent and the missed opportunity to tour the Big Bear Lake area, we ran into Ana Arriaga, the hotel receptionist.  As we told her our story, we mentioned that the room rent had already been paid, but we would not stay the night there. Immediately, Ana not only understood our situation and empathized with us, but also volunteered to talk to the Manager, Raymond Landa. Within minutes, Raymond authorized Ana to refund our rent. She told us the news and credited our credit card with the full rental amount right away.

So, while we did not get to use a well-furnished room lakeside all night, we appreciated the kindness and courtesy of Ana and Raymond. On the next trip to the Bear Lake area, we will stay at the Marina Riviera and recommend it to our friends wanting to visit the region.


A wonderful room, but an even better experience with kindness and consideration

We chose Marina Riviera because we stayed at this location in the past a d fell in love with its location. Walking distance to downtown Big Bear, walking distance to the Marina.  This hotel was remodeled and bought out by the cassetta group.
The rooms are nice, would be tight for a family; bathroom shower is open, so you will definitely have water leakage. Beds are comfortable, however I would consider the hotel to be a soft opening. Lots of work still being done around the hotel, took away the enjoyment of peaceful environment, plus while sitting outside of our room, our view of the lake was partially blocked by trucks working. 
I will definitely go back for a visit, once the hotel is complete with renovations.  We also missed the refrigerator in our room, had to buy ice to keep our wine cold, so the ice chest in the room took up more space. We brought our small dog, park is walking distance from the rooms. e 



Soft Opening 

Other than the nice view, the room was clean, and a good location, all else was entirely unacceptable.
No coffee pot. Said they had coffee in the ( temporary) office. Asked for coffee pot in room at check in and she said they'd bring one up. Never did. Went down in the morning for coffee - had to get fully dressed to walk the entire length of the building on their outside walkway and then down the stairs. Asked about the coffee pot and he (different staff) said they didn't have coffee pots for the rooms.
Ice there as well- but two different times we went for ice and the 24/7 office was locked. 
Fridge-yes, but NO microwave in room. So, not even instant coffee.
Asked if the water was good to drink (ran some into a glass and it was off-color and cloudy). He said he didn't drink it but there was bottled water in the room. (Wait- we read a review of someone who got charged over$12. for the water. ) There was no sign advising it wasn't complimentary, but we went out and bought our own. Also were told no housekeeping, no problem, we were warned.
The room:
Very small balcony, (nice view) and the outside chairs too big to fit and also very uncomfortable. No room for a drink table.
NO dresser to put clothes,  had to keep them in our suitcases on the bench. No drawers even bedside- small shelves taken up by large round lamps (on/off switch under shelf). NO USB plugs for charging and few outlets.
Mini-split a/c leaked water down the wall so by morning wall and floor were soaked. Office was not concerned. We sopped it up with one of the 2 towels in the room. Rug stayed wet.
Bathroom:
Shower has glass half-wall which no matter how hard we tried, could not contain the water in the shower stall, so the floors were very wet. Shower head too high for me to reach and adjust. All faucets are backwards.
One small towel rack and 1 hook. No place to hang wet towels, hand towels or facecloths. Only a counter (no shelves or drawers) to put personal bath items, and not very accessible due to toilet placement.
Motion sensor light in bathroom sounds like a good idea, but in middle of the night it comes on very bright as does the fan. Couldn't bypass it.
Inside the door there were 3 hooks for hanging coats (if you removed the "robes" hanging there. ) A 12" high bench ran underneath, very low for sitting on.
If it were winter and we came with winter clothes and ski apparel,  I have no idea where you'd put it all. 
Final blow was my fault for being clumsy. Just before leaving,  I ran into the corner of the platform that the mattress rests on and tore a chunk of skin out of my shin. I realize this was my fault for running into it,  but since the sharp corner of the platform sticks out past the mattress, there probably should be a guard or something on that sharp corner. 
Over all,  we weren't happy with our "deluxe" king room at $170/nt. We were aware there was no pool, hot tub  or amenities before we arrived, but did expect a nice room. Oh, and my husband hated the dark green walls!
Good location, good view and there was plenty of parking while we were there.  Only saw 7 cars total while we were there. 


Nope, never again

The room was lovely. View was nice. The majority of the property is very much under construction. Good location for walking to town. No coffee in the room but they will make you delicious complimentary coffee at the front desk.

Beautiful room

My partner and I came with our two dogs and had an incredible time! The staff and their custom service was impeccable and we were so impressed by our room - we loved how close it was to the main area and the lake. The space is newly renovated and had so much charm! We plan on staying here every time we visit Big Bear and would recommend this hotel to anyone!

New favorite Big Bear accommodation!

Marina Riviera has the comfort and amenities of a Motel 6. I booked three nights in January 2023, but the stay was so uncomfortable that I left a night early. Casetta Hospitality Management tried to turn this old motel into a cool property with hip design elements, but have fallen short. The noise is the property's biggest problem--I could hear every step the guests (and dogs) above me took, along with guests snoring, babies crying and music playing in nearby rooms. The rooms are VERY loud, even with earplugs in, and made for an uncomfortable stay. 

As of January 2023, the property has zero amenities. There is no lobby, no pool/hot tub, no restaurant/bar, no fire pit, no electric vehicle charger, no communal spaces, etc. so you are paying only for a room. Staff informed me that the property's renovation may be complete around summer/fall, but that things are moving slowly. 

Basic things in my room did not work. The TV didn't work, the bathroom door did not shut all the way, the room door did not shut properly and the closet light did not work. It was strange considering these rooms were recently renovated. 

Big Bear Lake itself isn't particularly scenic, like Lake Tahoe, so Marina Riviera's location isn't really a selling point in my opinion. My recommendation is to pass on staying at Marina Riviera and book a more comfortable property, such as The Lodge at Big Bear, or a vacation rental instead.

Comfort and Amenities of a Motel 6

This place was very nice I got to give it that. We went during the end of the remodel so no loony or anything. The room was very nice and all new furniture but the walls are as thin as paper! We could hear every word of our neighbors conversations. We thought they were partying and being loud but the longer we listened we realized they were just having casual conversations. It was a little annoying after a long day but everything else was nice. The heating/venting is nice but it dried out both our mouths and made us very stuffy. 
Ok place but a little pricy for what you get.
