My parents and I stayed here when passing through the area. The room was extremely clean, new carpet,  comfortable bed and an overall nice experience. You can tell the owners put in a lot of work to make this a nice place to stay. I'll mention that there were a lot of construction workers staying here. They were outside grilling, playing corn hole and hanging out. We thought it was nice to see them enjoying down time after work. I didn't hear them after about 9:00 PM.

Nice Place to Stay

We have tried both motels in Boise City and can't say one is clearly better than the other.  Our choice this time was a queen size bed in a non-smoking room at the Longhorn. Check-in took a bit since we did not have reservations and the clerk was not sure if they had rooms available.  Fortunately the real receptionist drove up and took over.  So we recommend calling ahead to reserve a room.  Our room had a single, comfortable  queen size bed plus a micro wave, refrig, easy chair and a desk and chair. The heater/AC unit is mounted so high that, unless you are seven feet tall, it is likely that you'll be hauling a chair over to turn on and adjust the unit. Shower was hot but water pressure a little low, however you'll waste less water as a result. Our biggest concern was the shortage of electrical outlets. There was a power strip but it was nearly full (TV, lamp, etc). Another converter to change a two outlet setup to a 4 outlet one was cheaply made and nonfunctional since items plugged into it literally fell out.  To get a charge you had to hold the plug into the receiver.  Not very useful when trying to recharge your phone.  The WiFi worked but was pretty slow in the evening when multiple users were on it. Wait until early morning if you want better reception. There is no breakfast, there (or anywhere in town on Sunday morning) but there was coffee in the reception room.

Your choices are limited, but it is OK

My boys and I stayed here on our way home from bird hunting in Montana. There weren’t many choices on our route and I picked this one based in part on reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com. We got in late and it took a while for the night clerk to get up to check us in. The room stunk to high heaven when we got in (cigarette smoke) and the a/c was off. It smelled a little better this morning after running the a/c all night. The room was too small for two queen beds, but it appeared reasonably clean. The motel served no breakfast, but cost the same as the motel we stayed in the night before in Miles City, Montana. 

Mediocre at best 

Well our selection wasn't much. We chose this one. Room was clean but smelt horribly of cigarettes and air freshener even though it was supposed to be non smoking. We paid a little less at motel 8 at our last travel stop th day before and it was a MUCH nicer hotel with ammenities even. Hair dryer, coffee, breakfast bag. But if you have to stop....this is OK.

Only Two Motels in this little town

We attended a funeral In Campo, Colorado. Since there was no housing there, we opted for the next closest town, Boise City, OK. There were two choices. We picked Longhorn from the internet. 

What a pleasant surprise. The place originally was built in the 50’s, HOWEVER, the interior has been remodeled. Has a Smart tv, microwave, frig , and queen beds. 

The room was crowded due to the queen beds, but AC was comfortable. The only problem was there was no place to hang clothes. Not even a few hooks on the wall. But we made do , and if ever in this vicinity again, we will pick the Longhorn Motel

A great place to stay

We recently stayed for two nights. The room was very clean and had the main essentials. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room but there was a mini fridge. We have family who live in town and would definitely stay here again! 

Nice stay

Really- if you are doing a Black Mesa trip and dont want to camp at the state park, this is a GOOD option.  I was nervous while staying alone but never felt unsafe.  In fact, the room was super clean and cozy, and the owners stayed up when I was getting in late.  A really good part of my Black Mesa trip!

Good experience

Your options are limited in Boise City but we were quite pleased with this accommodation.  They do not serve breakfast but at least there is fresh coffee in the office in the morning. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

Comfortable and quiet

There aren't many choices in town, and this was pretty clean for what it was, and relatively comfortable for the value. It's old and worn, but we had a good nights sleep. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Fun art in the lobby. A real throwback in a totally authentic way - an old motel in a tiny rural town. Keep your expectations reasonable, and just decide to enjoy the experience. PS - walk down to the Bluebonnet Cafe for breakfast - you won't regret it!
