It supposed to be a very comfortable stay, but it turned out as the worse place we have ever stayed. First of all they gave us a dirty room. When I say dirty,  it means that the room wasn't prepared for the stay at all. After our complain, the staff apologized politely and changed the room. In both rooms there were no shampoos, conditioners, even no soap! Instead of liquid soap there was only water!
The room was cold, electric heater didn't work,  and we weren't provided with blanket until we asked.  As it was presented in some site that they have a continental breakfast, but it turned out that they have the only vegan breakfast. We are not vegans, but okay. The day we wanted to give them a chance and try the breakfast, in the morning nobody was in the kitchen to help us with that, and we just went to resort that located 5 minutes away. And the last but not least is absolutely "no walls" between rooms. You could hear even if somebody is farting. And I'm not kidding when I say that. We could not sleep for the all time we stayed there, because someone was talking, someone was listening to the music, etc. We could hear EVERYTHING! And woke up in the middle of the night, because of that. Overall, I don't recommend this place to anyone even though the staff was pleasant and nice, they are very unorganized. Im still questioning how they have the rating they have.

Do not recommend

Have been wanting to visit the Lotus Mountain Retreat for awhile now.  I am extremely grateful that i did.  I felt so completely peaceful and blissful that i needed to extended our stay.  It felt like being home and the staff was wonderful, Kind, humble and generous.  The fireplace in the main living room...LOVE! We signed up for a private yoga and sound healing session with Brooke must do!  As a yoga teacher myself this was a complete treat, followed by sauna.  The breakfast porridge yum! The dinner not only delicious but nurturing as well (Thank you Jay) 
this is not your average hotel but a beautiful community of like minded souls with a bliss filled vibration. I did not want to leave and will be back.  Thank You to all of the Lotus Mountain Inn staff Brooke, Horus, Jay, Joanne and Tony for making me feel "home"

Blissful

My husband and I booked a room for one night this past weekend to enjoy the area and ski at Bolton Valley.  We've stayed in the area a lot over the past few years, but never here...and we won't be staying here again.  While the price was good and the location worked out well, the accommodations and service were lacking.  The bathroom in our room was awful - the shower barely worked and even when I tried tightening the nozzle, it was too broken to do anything but spray half the water on the wall and the other half on me.  No TVs in the rooms, which we were prepared for and fine with, just noting it.  Bed was not comfortable.  Also, despite one of the other reviews calling this "ski in, ski out" that is an exaggeration.  There is a trail you can take from the parking lot, but it looked like a bit of a hike to the lifts.  We didn't bother with it as we had to drive up to pick up our lift tickets anyways.

Big issue is that at check-in, it took a while to get someone to the desk and then she just seemed confused about us booking on hotels.com...so confused that the next morning I got a surprise alert from my credit card that I had been charged AGAIN.  I went to the desk to find out what was going on and basically it looked like our check-in was entered wrong.  I was told that the manager would get back to me by the end of the day, but that never happened.  Now I'm just waiting for the double charge to go from "pending" to an actual charge so I can dispute it with my bank, since the hotel doesn't seem to care about clearing it up on their end.  

Positives:  location, price, lobby area had a nice fireplace
Negatives: room/bathroom and customer service

Just okay

I booked this place for an evening getaway with my husband because it describes itself as a "retreat" with a sauna and hot tub. Neither amenities were working on the night that we visited. Neither was the "kombucha bar." The place seems to be staffed by a number of volunteers who were very kind and well-meaning but came across as unprofessional and disorganized. We were told several contradictory things. Staff attire was what most people would wear to high school gym class or pajamas. It was the kind of service that would have been totally acceptable if it was a hostel with a hostel rate, but at the price we paid, it was pretty sad. We did expect it to be a little rustic, which it is. It doesn't seem like it has been updated much since the 70s, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but good to know what you're getting into. Needless to say, despite the kind volunteers trying their best, we were disappointed with our choice to stay there and spent a bit of the time that we had hoped to be soaking in the hot tub reading the many bad reviews online. It seems that if the owner(s) put half the energy that they put into responding to negative feedback online into actually managing the place professionally, it could be a decent place to have a getaway.

This is a hostel - not a hotel.

This place is truly a haven. Absolutely beautiful, cozy atmosphere, amazing food. Wonderful community feel. One of my favorite places I've ever stayed! 
Sauna, kangen water machine, hot tub, 24/7 tea available. Couldn't be better.

Amazing

The two of us were at the Lotus Mountain Retreat for 3 blissful nights. We had sunny weather and perfect hiking conditions. Each day, we enjoyed hikes around the property. Filled with streams, lovely pathways and the glorious fall leaves, we soaked in the peace and beauty in every moment. 
Our room was terrific. Cozy bed, warm heating, clean, perfect. 
The two original kombucha flavors were delicious. It was my first time tasting kombucha. I've been advised that the Lotus kombucha is far better than most. 
We watched the sunset from our room each night. 
Great outdoor hot tub!!!!
And now the best for last - the place itself! Its top 3 features: 
A roaring fire, 
Superb breakfast and dinner, 
/helpful and warm staff.

A Slice of Paradise!

I Initially resisted staying here after reading TA reviews.  A fair number of negative comments made me hesitate.  I've been traveling this summer and have stayed in over 35 different hotels/ motels and learned to drive by and take a look at the rooms before booking (I know this is impractical for a lot of people).  I've been burned too many times to trust reviews as they swing wildly, both too good to be true or too bad to be true! 
The following things were important to me for my stay as these were my last 2 nights of a 6 week cross country trip;  #1 Clean room/ bed/ bathroom. Should not smell, look or feel dirty.  #2 Feel/ Vibe/ Energy Calm and easy without any chaos.  #3 Staff interactions  Genuine) experience with people. #4 Setting Quiet (not near busy town) plus if place had views.
Before this trip I had not understood what was important to me, the Lotus has everything that I wanted and more. The moment I walked in my sense was that the place is funky, very relaxed and was just the right fit.  Very good interactions and conversations with the staff (Especially Daveed) and came away with the impression that everyone cared about the place.  
There's a certain charm with the way it's run.  It's not a super efficient hi end resort where everything is perfect (Definitely not the 4 Seasons (thank god!).  Quite a number of rooms have views of the valley/ Mountains with awesome sunsets and is in a great location with Stowe 30 minutes away.  Reminds me of a comfortable well lived in home.

Comfortable, Easy, Genuine

First of all, this place is EXTREMELY mis-advertised. From not having the proper furniture in the rooms (such as, a place to sit, a table, hair dryer or so much as even a cup in the bathroom) to sharing a MINI fridge in the lobby this place is certainly not  a hotel. After driving many hours up to VT arriving many hours after check in I was simply expecting to be able to sleep as soon as I arrived. Unfortunately, this was not the case, as when I arrived at 8pm the room was STILL not ready. They have absolutely no staff expect for the two co-owners,which pretty much only one is ever present. Having to wait at 8pm for them to prepare our room, which was supposed to be ready at 3, we left for dinner and had to come back later to check in. Later after coming back and the room being finally ready, we entered, and the room was filthy. The sheets looked as if they had never been cleaned, and the entire room smelt of weed (which is probably the reason for the lack of efficiency with the owners), and the carpet was dirty. Having a room of 3 people, we were told that there would be TWO beds. There was merely one bed and a roll away cot. A COT IS NOT A BED. Having many other issues while there, it's not worth to go on. Clearly this place is unfit to call itself a hotel and at the very most should be called a hostel. DO NOT STAY HERE unless you would like to sleep in an uncomfortable bed, over priced small room, and small weed throughout your trip. They clearly do not have their act together as they do not even make the beds in the morning, or provide extra towels. The windows were broken, so it's not like we could even open them. It says there are mountain views but in reality everything is covered by trees and you cannot see anything, as the establishment is too short. This is not worth the money at all and I urge you to think twice before booking. I cannot say anything positive about my experience here.

Hostel not a Hotel BEWARE DO NOT BOOK

We stayed 1 night and booked last minute and where given a king room with ac. They were kind enough to give us a mattress on the floor for my niece . The co managers are very nice but too laid back for my taste. The building is old and needs sprucing up ie peeling cracked paint, stained carpets ,sagging mattress , missing tiles on the event done. It has a sense of projects never completed. Beware when you eat there as everything has a separate price which is not made clear , so a baked potato with garbanzo beans and chopped avocado with a small side salad $15 ,carrot cake $5 ,a tea $5. You have no idea of what the meal is going to be until you get there but you have to reserve by 5pm for the cook to have a head count.. very unorganized. When we tried to checkout at 8 am no one was around and I had to go to the kitchen to have them wake someone up and when I got my bill it was a whopping $289. She did take off the 15 for deserts and a $10 tip she had automatically added .  I still paid $268.  I know that $55 was food and tea . I am still trying to figure out the other $218.  It reminded me of a commune with all the people working there living on the first floor but no real sense of organization or communication. Again they were delightful people but seem to lack the attention to detail to run a business.  Again these are my perceptions, I am more conservative and it was too zen for me.

Not what I expected

This is a very chill place. With the price range, we are happy that there is a yoga room, a sauna room, a hot tub and a restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The food provided was all vegan and tasty. It was all fit into our expectations. Lot of common area to hang out. Great place to meet other travelers and share a great conversation! Ananda and Dahveed always try to make us comfortable. We are very happy with the stay here!
