We were in Boston for 3 nights at the beginning of a three week tour of New England.  The Boston Christopher has rooms with kitchenette, varying sizes I think.  Ours wasn't large, but for 3 nights, not a problem.  Nicely decorated, good bathroom, and a good use of restricted space.  There was hanging room for clothes, a little table and bar stools, good coffee machine, coffee, biscuits etc. so enough if you didn't want to go out for breakfast, although much better to go down the road to Charlie's Sandwich Shop (about 5 minutes walk) where they do amazing breakfasts (try the beef hash!).  The main drawback with this accomodation is that there is no lift, so you have to be fit.  We were on the top floor and it's quite a haul up the (sloping) stairs, specially with cases.  But we were aware of that and it wasn't a major problem (and we are a "mature" couple!  The area is nice, feels safe, and is within walking distance (again, if you are fit and used to walking) of most of the major tourist areas.  A five minute walk also takes you to a bus stop which will take you to Harvard across the river, for a tour, which we thoroughly enjoyed.  All in all we were happy with our choice, it wasn't cheap, but a lot cheaper than most hotels in Boston, and we felt that we were in a "real" neighbourhood, which was nice.

Great location

There is no doubt that the Boston Christopher is well located but there is not a lot more going for it. 

Before our arrival we were sent codes for front door and apartment. Sounded okay but we were informed of the wrong apartment and so had a stressful time until we worked out where we should have been.  There is no one to help you, you are on your own but we were fortunate to meet a very helpful cleaning lady who spoke no English and we had to communicate with through Google translate.

There is no elevator so bags had to be dragged up to second floor. 

Apartment had air conditioning set to a low temperature so we were cold throughout our stay. There is no kettle in the kitchen only a coffee machine.

We had one bath towel and hand towel each to last the four nights but with no heating they were hard to dry. There was one spare bath towel supplied.

Despite emailing the reception about the temperature and the fact that the television did not work nothing was done about it.

External traffic is noisy but apartment above generated extreme bangs at times, enough to wake you up and make you feel insecure. 

On the one warm day outside, the entrance to the roof top terrace was locked. 

You would have to be desperate to book here and the only recommendation you could make is just don’t go there!



This is not a hotel

Excellent location in South End. Walked to Boston Symphony. Close to good restaurants. No parking. Management company a block away. 
Beautifully remodelled old brownstone. We had one bedroom apt on first flight up which was bright, airy, and well equipped. However, there was dirt on the floor. We also had a standard suite which turned out to be on the top floor (four stair flights up). Besides being a real pain to get to, it also was not very clean and lacked eating utensils. The standard suites are just large enough for a bed, shower, and cook plate. Entry codes did not work, but call to the mgt company finally resolved.

Great potential, but sorely needs TLC/

We came to Boston to attend a University Graduation. Accommodation at a reasonable price is hard to come by and we booked months in advance to secure this unit. The location is great, the size of the room is very good and at one time I'm sure it was a grand studio suite. With a some maintenance & detailing it could easily be great again. We are B&B hosts ourselves so are well aware of guest comfort and the many little things that matter.  The bed was comfortable, pillows not so much. There is no climate control so ventilation vents are blowing all the time. Doors are squeaky, tub and baseboard caulking need refreshing as does the ceiling paint. New blinds are needed and the fridge is noisy. Supplied utensils are sparse and mismatched. Same comments for the rooftop deck, entrance , stairwell and hallway areas and carpets.  There is no elevator (we knew that) and as luck would have it we were on the top floor. Overall we'd still give this an average rating in spite of deficiencies because the area is great, the price is fair if you book in advance. We would encourage management to work on the appeal factor.

Once Pristine - now needs Mtce and detailing

We stayed here for 3 nights during our visit in Boston and the place isn’t the best that we have ever been. It is not clean at all, it is very small, having the kitchen with the bed, very noisy fridge and they do not clean your room during your stay. I’d recommend to check other places. 

Room in the center but too much to be improved

We were very happy on arrival, midnight, but in the cold light of day our view changed. We were promised an information book, it doesn't exist, we chased but were told there is only one staff on and they couldn't deliver it. The TV didn't work, we tried to fix it, we asked for help, guess what? Only one staff on! In the end, after 2 days of hassle out of 3, I found the cable box was disconnected, the box was fitted 6 inches from the ceiling and I had to climb up a stool onto a cabinet to reach it. Very dangerous. If the cleaner could  be bothered to check everything was working when  they clean, it would help.
I emailed as the charges with an overseas mobile are high. I was asked to ring, the phone in the studio is disconnected!! Very quiet area, very little choice for eating or buying groceries. No information!!
The bed is good, the shower is good.

Staff let's it down

Got to spend a quality 1 on 1 with my girlfriend in a very cleann well kept classy room with plenty of space for 2. Room had an unforgettable balcony that we didn't know we needed but definitely needed.

Had no place to stay in Boston for my summer internship but I was referred here and was greatly satisfied!

The positives - the apartments are in a really good location. It is a nice area and close to a few local shops / eateries. It is close to both back bay station and providence subway although we tended to enjoy walking around Boston and didn’t use the public transport much. When we did use it, it was really efficient and reasonably priced. The room was clean and tidy and surprisingly quite spacious. I really did enjoy my stay at The Boston Christopher - however there are a few reasons I couldn’t give it 4/5 stars. I was there for 4 nights and didn’t sleep well the whole time I was there. The bed wasn’t particularly comfortable and it was unnaturally warm during the night. You couldn’t control the heating from inside your apartment and there wasn’t any A/C just a really noisy fan. The fan just blew around warm air so didn’t really help. We did open the window but were unsure of safety due to the stairs to the roof terrace being right outside our bedroom window. Would be great if air con could be installed or the heating could be controlled from your own room. On one night other guests were quite loud and noisy into the early hours (not the companies fault I know). The apartments would not be suitable to those with difficulties walking as the stairs are quite narrow and it was difficult lugging my suitcase up there when I arrived (I was on the top floor). All in all I did think my apartment was lovely and probably would recommend it as an alternative to expensive hotels if I knew anyone visiting Boston
