Very nice space. We went in the winter so the restaurant and bar were closed. Very close to Zorbas however. Cabin was nicely furnished.  There were 5 adults and one child and we all had plenty of room with 4 bedrooms and 3 bsths.

Just had a truly relaxing long weekend at Lost Lake Lodge. We were in cabin 17 which is smaller than most of the cabins and super cozy. Perfect for a couple to relax. The cabin was spotless and the linens and kitchen supplies were very nice.  The beach is small but perfectly adequate for a nice swim. The restaurant is good. The staff is super friendly. When our tv didn't work and they had trouble fixing it they offered to move us. We didn't feel like moving so they offered us merch from the gift shop. This was a great quiet getaway and we will definitely return. . 

Relaxation 

This review is for the restaurant. I would highly recommend a special evening out here. The food is outstanding and the prices are still reasonable. The view of the lake is tranquil and the dining room feels sophisticated for a resort.
We enjoyed the short ribs and the walleye.  Best walleye EVER! 
When we arrived for a 6:00 pm reservation there was no one in the restaurant. It was not a great feeling.  However, by6:30 it was comfortably near full.

A very good restaurant off the beaten path.

My family made vacation trips to Lost Lake pretty regularly when it was owned by Bill & Ethel Mae Carter decades ago. It was a quaint resort with meals and a dozen or so simple cabins and aluminum canoes and flat-bottomed john boats you could use to row around the little lake and maybe catch a few fish. The boat dock and canoes and rowboats that used to be on Lost Lake are all gone. I don't think visitors can go out onto the lake anymore.

Today, the quaint old cabins are gone  - bulldozed - and replaced by modern condos/duplexes, big enough to house a large family. 
One "lot" has a number of tree stumps on it and it looks like they're going to build still another unit there. Some of these condos/duplexes are for sale and some are already privately owned. There is quite a bit of paved parking now, especially near the largest condos/duplexes. The exterior style of the new condos does not match the color, size, or style of the main lodge or the original cabins.
The main lodge still looks the same as it did when I was a kid.

This is not the quaint,  warm Lost Lake Lodge of my childhood. It does not feel like a resort anymore - it looks more like a small, modern housing development and I think that may be the owner's goal - to make a lot of money divvying up the property into lots, building condos on the lots,  then selling them. 

Who knows? Maybe you'll like this new Lost Lake Lodge. For me, though, it has completely lost its vacation nature getaway feel. I certainly will never return.

Peaceful? Solitude? If you can ignore the sounds of construction on the property and the construction noises. 

I think the rental cabins we discovered in Itasca State Park near Bemidji today show promise.

Not the Lost Lake resort I used to know

It was our 1st time at Lost Lake and although there were some very nice features, we were surprised how dirty and stained the carpet was in our cabin. There was no Wi-Fi because they were upgrading their equipment. We just expected more for what we were paying. I emailed this feedback to management but haven't gotten a response back. Disappointing.

Disappointed in cleanliness

Arrived.  Had to put our life history on paper, including everyone who was staying with us, ages, names, vehicles.  This was strange.  Then later found out that the old man that owns it basically stalks everyone that checks in to make sure no extra people are staying that they can charge for.  Super creepy and not 2022 at all.  Was later told by locals that the whole family and the resort are a must avoid.  Don't waist your time, we won't again.

As you will see by the TripAdvisor description, Lost Lake Lodge is advertised as an all- inclusive resort. Unfortunately, that isn’t accurate.

After booking on TripAdvisor I spoke with an individual at Lost Lake Lodge. He was extremely helpful and informed me they are not an all- inclusive resort and that information has been shared with TripAdvisor.

After finding out the description provided by TripAdvisor was inaccurate I attempted to cancel my reservation through TripAdvisor. I have just been informed by TripAdvisor they will not allow me to cancel my reservation as the reservation is non refundable.

While I understand the concept of non refundable, our reservation was premised on renting a cabin at an all inclusive resort with excellent meals. In essence, this is a bait and switch tactic which, apparently, TripAdvisor now employs.

Finally, let me be clear about two things. First, Lost Lake Lodge has nothing to do with TripAdvisors fraudulent advertising. Second, if you look at my history I have submitted dozens of reviews from all over the world. I’m not some inexperienced traveler. I guess this is what TripAdvisor has stooped to.

Caution - TRIPADVISOR FRAUDULENT

Unacceptable and completely unreliable service and communication. 
From the moment we arrived and they said our cabins were clean and ready, and we walked in and there were dirty towels and sand all over the floor, it is clear that the communication is disorganized and that the property is not properly managed.
I’ve been going to this resort for more than 15 years with my family, and have always spoken highly of it, so I am extremely embarrassed by the mess that it has become. 
We reserved a boat for the 4th of July, 6 months in advance, and confirmed once we arrived on July 3rd that we would pick it up the next day. When we showed up to get the boat, they said someone else had it reserved. No proposed solution, no accommodation.

Extremely disorganized and inappropriate treatment of guests. Until they improve their communication and priorities, I’d recommend staying somewhere else where you are appreciated and treated responsibly.

I think there aren't so many reviews about this place because nobody wants to share it. It's nice and it's probably kind of a secret. We had a lovely and relaxing time in one of the three-bedroom cottages at Lost Lake Lodge. The cottage was exactly as shown in the photos. They are nicely decorated and with decks or screen porches, Our cottage was newer construction with lots of space and amenities. From what I could see from the other cottages, the online photos are also representative of all other accommodations. The resort itself has the feel of a traditional lake resort. There were kayaks, paddle boards and canoes free for use or you can rent a boat from the resort (Your Boat Club is also right down the road). The beach is opposite the Gull Narrows on Lost Lake. Lost Lake is a small private lake with a swim dock and was perfect for kayaking with kids. We could wander and explore and fish from the dock on the Gull Narrows side. On the outside, there's nothing fancy going on, but, oh, the accommodations! The restaurant is now open for reservations or take-out. We did take-out from the restaurant twice and the food was quite good. The Lost Lake Trail was a fun experience. Even the four-year-old managed the trail though there was a downed tree blocking the path at one point and we carried him over it--it's just the right amount of adventure for kids--there are also some educational signs posted along the way and a couple of benches. By the way, the trail actually goes all the way around the smaller, Lost Lake (wear long pants and watch for Poison Ivy). There are a limited number of cabins/cottages, which makes Lost Lake Lodge a very private resort. Most guests seem to stay about three nights. We stayed nine nights (so we got to see the turnover). Mid-week was definitely quieter with fewer guests. With the current health situation, it made a great home away from home with the full kitchen, laundry and various living areas and privacy from others, We would definitely visit again. Note: we brought our own towels and major bedding and they were fine with that. During our stay, housekeeping was suspended during Covid-19.

Small, Traditional Lake Resort with Very Nice Upscale Cottages!

Was very disappointed in the room we got.  Very old and shabby.  Restaurant was pricey. I know they have one new cottage I would definitely request that one if available. Advertised trails but they were just paths that looked like they were made by Deers.  Definitely won't go back
