This motel is some outdated but very sufficient if just passing through. No refrig. or microwave. It is about 20 minutes from St. Ignace on a beautiful ride along Lake Michigan & well worth the reasonable price for the difference from in town prices. Just buy what you need before. No breakfast. Coffee maker in room, & ice maker in hallway. Some inside rooms. In the beautiful, quiet country side. Windows do open for wonderful fresh air.

Quaint motel

It was Memorial Day weekend and we couldn't find a place in St. Ignace so we settled for here.  The staff was friendly, but not very resourceful.  It had been raining very heavily for some number of days and their septic system was overloaded and they were unable to do anything about getting the toilet to flush for several days.  This made the room very unpleasant.  It does seem as if they could have come up with some sort of alternative.  Offer to move us to someplace else, offer another facility we could use and find a way to clean out our bathroom, instead of just saying there wasn't anything they could do.  I think this showed a very poor commitment to customer service.  We won't be back.

You get what you pay for

First, a bit about the demographics of this area:  UP is sparsely populated, about 1/3 of land mass of the state and 3% of its population.   Given that about the upper half of the lower peninsula is also lightly populated further indicates just how low this area is.  Rt 2 is the major east-west highway across the UP to the bridge to the lower peninsula, so there is a fair amount of traffic past it, but road noise not a problem.  From the bridge west for several hundred miles are no chains, but mom&pop restaurants, motels,and "tourist cabins," most of which are dead and decaying.    So this is not a Holiday Inn or Motel 6, but you won't find any of those  The room was mostly clean, except for the fabric soiling on the arms of the chairs.  Analog TV with limited channels on Direct  TV.  No Wi-Fi.  No cellular signal (Verizon).  Room was a bit stale but with an open window and fan, cleared out soon.  Plumbing up to date,  I know UP winters are brutal on exterior and trim and sign could use some fresh paint. Could feel springs on bed, so needs a new mattress.  New roof on one building and planned for second one year, presuming as budget allowed.   We were there in summer season,  but rooms only about 15% occupied (4 in use).   Other motels and restaurants we drove past iikewise had few customers.   Coffee maker in room.  Ice in hallway.

Friendly, but in need of some maintenance.

This was the only motel that still had rooms left for car show weekend and I can see why! Front desk guy was nice enough but when we entered the building that housed our room we were met with a huge waft of air smelling of mildew. The room had this unpleasant odor as well. One of the lamps had a broken shade and the room phone was pulled out of the wall so I had to use my cell phone to call the front desk to inquire about WI-fi, which they do not have. What year do they think it is?

This is a very tired and out-of-date motel. One could not even call it rustic or quaint. It is just poorly maintained and a huge disappointment to what was supposed to have been a fun date night for my wife and I.

A Dismal Turd Of A Motel

Very well kept rooms--comfortable, affordable, nearby to stunning views of Lake Michigan!  And incredibly kind and helpful staff!  Not only did we enjoy our stay at Chapel Hill, but they also went above and beyond in helping us retrieve an item we left behind, and mailing it to us!
