DRIVE PAST THIS HOTEL! The manager "Bob" was rude and disrespectful. He canceled my room to book another traveler and tried to deny it. The corporate office confirmed the reservation was canceled on the premises. Yes, I drive an hour to the festival just to drive over and cancel my room. Does this dude really think that I would do that! Needless to say, the Comfort Inn in Heath is beautiful! Thanks to Jacob at their front desk for helping us stranded ladies! He gets a kudos call to Choice Hotels corporate office! AGAIN ... DRIVE PAST THE MOTEL 6 AT BUCKEYE LAKE. A better option would be to sleep in your car

Room booked for Backwoods Festival

This hotel is empty; I asked for a first floor room because I have a permanent back injury, but was told that I had to take a second floor room because all the first floor rooms are newly renovated (wtf???). The second floor room was all the more inconvenient because the key cards only work once in the ancient and unpredictably pissy door readers....Then you have to walk back down the stairs multiple times to reset the card at the front desk to get into your room.

Asked for a nonsmoking room; it reeks like an ashtray, and everything I brought with me smells horrible. Black ring in bathtub, mold and heavy condensation in the window. I kept the fan at 65 the whole time I was here because the room is boiling hot and stagnant. Carpet on floor is old and greasy; make sure you bring thick socks you can throw away. Old metal stairs outside; I slid down them today and hurt myself because they are an unforgiving lethal-slick hazard when it rains.

There's no phone in the room, and I was told by the front desk that "this isn't [their] problem." The cable is iffy, and the Wi-Fi is nonexistent; I was told by the front desk that they both work "just fine" for them.
 
There's still an Econolodge courtesy sign on the bathroom door that says that this room used to go for $195 per occupant; I can't even imagine. The only thing that made this unfortunate four day stay tolerable was the fact tbat it's devoid of occupants and, therefore, blissfully quiet...but I will never stay herd again. The most entertaining thing about this place are the bail bond company stickers plastered all over the housekeeping carts.

Not the Place to Stay

So my experience was a bit unique. I was shooting a short film in the area and needed a hotel close to my location in Buckeye Lake. This place was the closest and having stayed at a Motel 6 chain before, I thought this would be decent for my cast and crew to unwind and recover after 2 long days of shooting in the July heat. I contacted the hotel 3 weeks beforehand to reserve 7 rooms. I was told by the very helpful front desk agent Mary that she would pass my information on to the owners who would call me so that we could discuss any rate discounts for reserving that many rooms in a block. 2 weeks went by and I had not heard from them. I went into the hotel in person to reserve my rooms anyway. I was shown the renovated rooms and the non-renovated rooms. I was told that the renovated rooms would not be available to me. That was fine. The fact that they were making improvements is great. I had to pay for each room individually. So with all of that paperwork by the 7th time they ran my credit card, the credit card company declined to process another transaction for the same amount. So, I said for now 6 rooms will do. 
When we checked into our the day of the shoot, the power was out due to a severe thunderstorm in the area. No big deal. The big deal came when a gentleman, i was told later was the owner, made a big fuss over my wanting a non-smoking room for my lead actress. He said at the rate I paid I wasn't guaranteed anything and I should be lucky for what I was getting. He wanted to give me all double rooms. I honestly didn't care except the actress needed a non-smoking room due to severe asthma. His nastiness was noted by my producer. I had to cancel one room due to a death in the family of that crew member. Again met with hostility from the owner (NOT THE STAFF). I was not given a refund for that room. After the shoot we check into our rooms...that is where the real adventure begins. 2 of the 5 rooms had towels. Correction 3 rooms had towels, only 1 room had clean towels. I went to the front desk to request towels for the rooms missing towels. The helpful desk agent gave me all that she had. 3 body towels 2 wash cloths and a floor mat. She had NO OTHER TOWELS. None. not dirty, not clean, just no other towels to give us period. I am not a mathematician, but if I know I have double rooms, I would make sure they had enough towels for 2 people per room. Especially when you are renovating the entire first floor. Where did THOSE towels go? There should be plenty for all of the rooms on the second floor. But there were not. The towels in my actresses rooms were wet. As in someone had taken a shower and hung them back up. Complete with body hair and bodily fluid stains on them. I took those towels back to the front desk and asked that they be Washed/dried and returned to my actress that evening since she had a 7 am call time on location. They were never returned or cleaned. My actress went to get in her bed in her non-smoking room with an ashtray on the dresser and noticed an awful LOT of body hair on her sheets. Like some man had a shedding problem amount of body hair on her sheets.  So I went back down to the front desk and was given clean sheets by the amazing front desk worker. She apologized profusely. It was almost as if someone used that room and they didn't clean it just gave us the key to it. It was disgusting. The other rooms had similar problems with stained towels and bed linens. One room had a busted lock on the door. For safety of his equipment, that gentleman moved the desk against the his door for the night. ALL rooms had their doors aggressively tried at ungodly hours in the morning. To which we all rose early, packed all of our things and took them to set with us because we did not feel safe. Which is a shame. Once this property is renovated it will look amazing. But if the ownership cannot keep enough clean towels, sheets and repaired locks on the doors, they will not see a return on their investment. I booked these rooms for two nights. Needless to say we did not stay a second night. When I went to checkout out, I was met with utter contempt and was told by the owner that she wasn't sure she could refund my money because I was coming to her SO LATE in the day. It was 1:30 pm. The BEST she could do was a 50% refund. I reminded her about the towel fiasco, the dirty sheets and the aggressive attempts at room entry on all rooms and she said that didn't matter, because I was notifying her so LATE in the the day she did not want to refund me period. So basically I got $168 back for 5 rooms. Which is a shame that the super helpful staff of Mary, Vickie, and Tabby have to deal with a management team that does not support their high level of customer care. I don't normally write bad reviews but these tightwad rip-off artists were the absolute worst! Stay here at your own risk and bring your own towels. The owners of this Motel 6 property are here to make money off of your misery.

My room was definitely under renovation and should not have been rented. Outside lighting was horrible and scary, room was creepy like a construction zone and great disarray. I did not If I hadn't been so tired I would've demanded a refund. I would not return and do not recommend.

Creepy

Normally I don't travel in Ohio but I was here for the Mopar Nationals. I have seen Youtube videos where people explore abandoned malls and hotels in places like Hebron Ohio. I assume that this was an abandoned motel which some squatters decided to rent rooms in without changing it or "fixing it up." On a positive note, it was not haunted.
