We skiied at Discovery and stayed at Fairmont. The pools were so great after a day skiing, and the food in the restaurants was delish. Our room was very large a comfortable for a family of 4. Everyone on staff was helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

Great!

I've been to the Fairmont several times over the years for a professional conference.  It is a great location for a conference and the conference facilities themselves are very good (with the exception of many, many chairs missing feet and making for an unstable seating experience). The resort itself is a fun place to stay, and the staff are excellent, often going above and beyond the call of duty.  Why only 3 stars, then? There are several reasons.

1) The guest rooms are just not up to snuff, and this has been a consistent problem. In a word, the guest rooms are tired - they need new carpet, paint, etc. There is no room cleaning during an extended stay (which is generally fine for me). But I expect a full (or almost full) roll of toilet paper on the spindle; I expect the carpet to be clean so I'm not getting random hairs from previous guests stuck on my feet or appearing in my bed; I expect more than 5 hangers in the closet for an extended stay. 

2) I'm also disappointed with the quality of the food, both in the bar, the cafe, and in the conference facilities. Many people opt to go elsewhere to eat for precisely this reason. The resort is losing business by not upping its game in this regard.

3) The fitness room is only open from 7 am to 10 pm, making it difficult for conference attendees to get some exercise. It would be worth remodeling the room to put the access door in a place where guests could access it 24 hours a day.

The hot springs and the excellent staff are what stand out at this resort. Hopefully other parts of the Fairmont Hot Springs experience will be improved to match.

Great location and staff, but tired guest rooms and marginal food

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable and staff was friendly. But...our phone was inoperable and the TV just showed a screen saver and the remote didn't work for "guide" or "menu". We walked down to the front desk and a maintenance man was sent up. He said that the TVs have not been working properly for a week or so and  showed us a work around to get channels. There was no channel guide in the room.

No menu in the room for any of the three restaurants. All soap dispensers in the women's locker room were out of soap and stayed that way for the two days we were there after reporting it to the front desk and two other staffers.

Dinner in the "fine dining" room was just okay and cost close to $100. We ate in the cafe the next night and found the food to be good but still very expensive. We figured the cost was due to the relative remoteness of the resort.

The pools were wonderful and well maintained but we won't be back. As long term Montanans [50+ years] we remember when this was a premier, affordable resort. We will go back to Quinns for a quality experience for the money.

Won't be back. Won't recommend.

The pillows are fluffy and the sheets are crisp and clean. The hot springs are warm and clean. An excellent, fun, and meaningful experience! The food was delicious and warm. Loved The Miner!!! The parking lot was cleared and the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable.

Phenomenal experience!

From the accommodations to the friendly staff by far the best hospitality experience I have had!  The rooms were very clean and updated. The cafe was a great place to stop for a tasty and quick bite to eat. The pools were kept clean and the staff ensured a relaxing and safe environment. 

Great Experience 

Fairmont is a fun and relaxing getaway for us!  The rooms are clean and comfortable. We especially enjoy the hot pools and the outdoor pools are a very unique experience during the winter months. The other resort amenities are also enjoyable for active families. We've visited Fairmont several times and always wish we could stay longer.

Really enjoy the hot pools, and the warmth of the regular pools. If planning a visit, I highly encourage you to call ahead to verify that they won't have some of the facilities down for maintenance. My first two visits, they called me a few weeks before (too late to change my plans) to inform me that the outside pools would be closed for maintenance. I do feel this should be listed on the website at booking, because 3ish weeks prior is too close to try to change plans. The first time, the outer pools did open in time for our first morning waking. But that was not the case on my second visit, so half of the springs were closed for scheduled maintenance, but the rates were the same. Thankfully this was not the case on this visit! 
 But other than that, which can hopefully be avoided by calling ahead in the future to confirm all pools should be open, we have always had a great time visiting! 

Love the hot springs, but call to verify if planned maintenance may have partial closure.

My family and I stayed for 2 nights and immediately found the rooms to be very dirty.  When I called the front desk because there was still poop in our toilet and no soap in the bathroom they very casually said they could have someone come and clean.  The sheets were probably washed but I could still see stains all over.  The hot springs itself was a little better , but still dirty.  Our kids still had a blast and we all loved the smoothies.  Overall, I’m not sure I’d stay again.

Very dirty rooms

Skip it.  First of all it is not a resort. Don't count on the outdoor pool or slide being open.  They closed it because it is cold and ice might form.  It's winter in Montana, should probably know how to handle that.  I called around, every other hot spring near by was open.  Save yourself money and go get a hotel with a nice indoor pool or go to any other hot spring.

Terrible

Great place to go with family. The pool, water slide, food, conference rooms were all excellent. Our rooms were clean and we had no issues during our three day / two night stay. This is becoming an annual visit for us.
