This place was amazing.  The room as clean and stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries.  The gift bag that we were given at check-in had coffee, s’mores, and fish food.  Feeding the fish was fun.   The food at restaurant was 5 star and staff was friendly and efficient.  We had easy access to all the fishing holes we wanted and to the town. Our room looked exactly like the pictures on the website.   I would definitely go back.

The first night we had a noise problem with the people above us. We called the front desk and the management took care of us and the problem. Also, Kit who worked the breakfast area was awesome and very courteous.

Great homestyle food in a casual setting, near the cut off for Bodie.  Delicious burgers with cheese, mushrooms, and onions...and don't miss the made from scratch apple dumpling for dessert.  Very friendly service, too.  Highly recommended!

Great, casual spot with delicious food

We chose the Virginia Creek Settlement based in reviews and location. 
They're the closest to Bodie CA.  Unfortunately record snow in the area kept us from Bodie this time.  There was plenty of other stuff to see and do.
But we will not be denied and will return early October to tour the ghost town.

The Settlement itself was cool to walk around and enjoy the scenery.
The banks of the creek were being sand bagged for the projected record snowmelt. 

 We loved sitting near the creek and using firepit.  I got to talk with the owner who was very polite and provided great information.

The room itself was comfortable and well equipped.
We stayed in the same room John Wayne did while filming North to Alaska, #2.

Room is sold-out in October so we booked the Deluxe Queen Room next door. 

We didn't find time to try out their restaurant.
Maybe on upcoming visit. 

I highly recommend the Virginia Creek Settlement and cant wait to return. 



Awesome stay.  Returning in Oct '23

wife, pup, and i went here to try because we heard it was great. we ordered chicken marsala and mushroom swiss and onion burger...... all came with salad, bread, pasta, and ice cream. chicken dish had aluminum foil in it and burger was minus swiss. waitress literally brought back the now cold burger with a ridged refrigerated piece of swiss on it and thought it was ok. it was redone and eaten. chicken foil pasta was returned. the waitress and shift leader said the foil was from a baked potato. we never ordered a baked potato. so what they were trying to say was beyond me. the waitress and shift leader man tried to nickle and dime us with a discount of 50% on the 24.95 dinner plus the 6.95 cost of a salad and 1.75 bread, which is funny because we were never offered our ice cream. probably should have credited us 3.50x2 for non offered/eaten ice cream. There was no way i was paying for any of that chicken foil marsala. we kept going back and forth with waitress and shift leader to NOT pay for the chicken foil marsala and garlic bread and settle the debt..... no big deal. easy solution would be to simply just comp the meal and apologize and make it right. customer service and listening to the guests go along was where charging for partially eaten food and confusing the bill by discount and pro rated food is b.s. !ultimately shift leader man said he took care of it with a smug smile. so i was like thanks and good night! had to get the freak outta that twilight zone atmosphere.

overpriced and will nickle and dime you when they mess up!

It was quite deserted in the snowy/rainy winter. But there were some guests. Yet the place was really quiet. We stayed in the small cabin at the end right next to the river. The cabin was warm and cozy, well maintained. WiFi was really great. 
The restaurant was well run, good food. It was just closing just at 8PM. Thus need to plan ahead with the food.
Nice place. We would definitely visit again when in the area. 

Great place off the beaten path

What a terrific place.  Great cabins and the property is immaculate.  The staff was warm, friendly and accommodating.   This is my favorite get away destination. Waking up and having breakfast in the restaurant was a delightful experience.

Never wanted to leave...

We were traveling from Sacramento to Mammoth Lakes and decided to break up the trip with an overnight stop here. This is a really fun place. A very historic feel, but modern comfort. When you arrive, you receive a welcome bag with coffee, a s'mores kit and some fish food for the trout they raise every year to stock the nearby creek. The staff were wonderful and welcoming. Rooms were very comfortable, with a rustic feel and fun decor. They even have a covered wagon you can sleep in, but we opted for something less rustic. Could hear a little noise from the traffic on 395, but wasn't bad at all. Could also hear the creek behind, so that was nice. Price was reasonable. Would definitely stay here again.

An excellent place to stay

This place is absolutely wonderful.  Stayed here for one night (and could have stayed longer if time would have allowed) during our 16 day road trip. 

Immeditely, we wre greated by Avery, an amazing young man who you could tell absolutely loved what he did. Made us feel very welcomed and valued guest.  When you check in they give you a welcome bag with coffee pod, fish food and a smores kit.  What a pleasant surprise!  

As soon as we check in, we were starved and headed straigh to the resturant (see seperate review for the delicious pizza review). 

After dinner, we wen to our room and what a super cute room it was. Felt like we were in a cabin.  Good size room with comfortable beds, AC and a celing fan and mini fridge.  After we unloaded we walked the property.  They had outdoor games, swings, cute cabins, a beautiful creek and a bridge and a small hatchery.  We used our fish food to feed the hungry fish.  

Can't say enough about this place!  Would highly recommend and if I was ever in the area again I would definately stay here!

Our favorite stay on our 16 day road trip!

This place was an oasis after a long (enjoyable) visit to the Bodie SHP. We didn't have a reservation, but Monica was quick to find us a cabin by the babbling creek.  Clean and comfortable, with the restaurant right there for all our meals (good food, large portions). Feeding the fish in their mini-hatchery and petting their sweet gray and white cat were highlights of our stay. Monica was so helpful - she was there every meal and provided us with a bag of ice free of charge when we left.  We really enjoyed our stay!
