This was our sixth stay here. We tried a few others in between but always come back here. It can't be beat for price/value, coziness, cleanness, service, location. Our previous visit was in 2020 and the bed was worn out, but we stayed in the same room this time and the bed and pillows were new and comfy. Every room has a quaint, beachy atmosphere. It's always quiet and the amenities -- microwave, fridge, iron and mini board, coffee maker -- are just right. 

Perfect cozy getaway

So glad I found this gem for the Labor Day weekend in 2022.

Prices: The prices were really good compared to other motels/hotels in the area. 

Staff: Excellent. Everyone was so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Wanted to shout out FDL (Front Desk Lady - she knows who she is) because she is awesome and funny (great sense of humor)!!!!!!

Wanted to note: It is on the quieter part of town, beach front, and walking distance to food, the convention center and Washington mall. 

Got the efficiency room - the kitchenette was great, the entire room was recently remodeled. Love the the lights in the main room area, the AC unit was nice, the little backyard area was clean and well kept, free ice and the room was cozy. It was exactly what we needed for our vacation. It is not far from Wildwood as well (15-20 minute drive) We will definitely be back!

Buckingham Motel - Labor Day Weekend 2022

The best thing about this motel is location. We had booked a room months in advance.  They gave us room 7. The room was ok, but the worst was the bathroom!! It was disgusting! The bathtub was so stained, mildew everywhere. The faucets and shower so old and mildew as well. Toilet kept backing up..... We had no choice because they had no other rooms. 
I hope they update the bathroom for the amount of money you pay in summer season. 

Beware of room 7

Comfortable room with a gorgeous view of the Atlantic. Decent amenities in the room, microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Pillows very hard. No ice maker and no house keeping except between guests. Office never open. Decent parking off street at the back of the hotel.

View of the Ocean can't be beat

My friend and I stayed at the Buckingham Motel.  It is not a 5 star hotel, but reasonable for what we wanted to spend. It reminds me of the old motels of the 70s but fresher and updated. My first impression was "beachy". This is family owned and do what they can. The beds were comfortable. The little kitchen is not equipped with any utensils or dishes.  There is a coffee maker and toaster, microwave, oven and refrigerator.  No coffee or filters provided. We bought snacks and water to keep in the refrigerator.  No shampoo or lotions provided, but I always bring my own. Ran out of toilet paper and to request it. Was delivered in minutes. Great porch outside the room. Also has grills, picnic tables, and lounge chairs.  The notices as others have listed, are to save avoidable  expenses for the family. Most family volunteers their time. It is such a quaint little place. If you don't need whistles and bells, it is very comfortable and affordable. It is right across the street from a great area of the beach and walking distance to restaurants. 

Sentimental

Stayed here in late September.  Interactions with the staff were helpful and friendly.  The room was very clean,  Inside it was a mix of old and new (some of the updates were very nice).  We felt safe here but would have preferred a more substantial lock on the door.

Good for the Price

We stayed at the buckingham oct 18,19,20.    We had a lovely room    King size bed microwave coffee pot refrigerator soap coffee shampoo tv. Free parking is a plus.  We used the hot water outdoor shower to get the sand off after spending an afternoon at the beach.   The room was very clean.  I found the help to be pleasant and full of information .    We usually stay elsewhere but I think the buckingham will be the place for us.

Wonderful stay

We have been staying at the Buckingham for many years.  We have never experienced the negatives in the other posts.   The rooms are extremely clean.  I bet cleaner then most peoples homes - lol.   The bug posts are ridiculous.  The motel has mostly ground level units which are entered from the grass and picnic areas.  Nature surrounds the building .  Cape May is a barrier island which is famous for ants.  When it rains their homes in the ground are flooded , so they move up, cling to anything.  Then there’s the beach and sand fleas.  Ya can’t fight Mother Nature, but keeping food in containers and clean kitchen are helpful. 
  Janet and Marie are extremely friendly and helpful.  Vickie is and amazing head housekeeper. 
  Treat people the way you want to be treated .  

 Our recent stay was relaxing as usual.  The motel was also getting new beds ( even though ours was fine) in the Efficiencies and motel units during our stay as well.   Yes the units have futons verses sofa beds and they are not from the 80’s.  
 I work in the hospitality industry and know how demanding , cheap and miserable people can be .  I say Buckingham keep up the fine work and ignore those nasty people.  They won’t return which is very lucky for your happy guests .

Oct. Escape at the Cape

I completely agree with the other three negative Aug/Sept 2019 reviews. We stayed in the bungalow last weekend. Was told it sleeps 4. Well, the mattress was crabby, there was a futon ... yes, a futon! from like 1982 in the living area, and a small two-seater old-fashioned sofa. There was nothing provided. No complimentary tea or coffee or shampoo, etc. NOTHING. We discovered a beehive in the bathroom walls. The front desk staff were not friendly nor helpful. I got told to "leave immediately," as my car was parked in the owner's spot. I had just arrived and was unloading the car. THERE WAS NO OTHER SPOT TO UNLOAD. The toilet repeatedly backed up. I decided to throw the sofa cushion out on the little patio and sleep out there with fresh air, the stars, and the sounds of the ocean waves. They have a stupid sign on the fridge about not bringing in dry sand because it has bacteria "yuck." Honestly, that's what it says. Guess what THE BUCKINGHAM MOTEL IS YUCK. Don't bother, unless you just need a roof over your head.

DON'T WASTE YOUR $$!

Do yourself a favor and pay extra 50 bucks and stay somewhere else this place is a crappy. in every way yes it’s cheaper but if reserving in advance u can find same for a little more rate , hotel is dirty hasn’t been updated since 1969 we stayed on second level room 23 only the view was good room horrible , outdated furniture , dirty green carpet bathroom , sink from 1965 cracked tiles on bathroom shower,  exhaust did not work at all bathroom Got flooded every time someone took a shower probably mold everywhere between the walls , staff Janice very rude and obnoxious,  mattresses haven’t been changed since 1950 my teenage sons legs were hanging on the ground they just put mattress pads on mattresses and thought they fixed problem , not a penny has been invested into this place since the 60’s just because it’s a little cheaper they feel they can take advantage of people heard there were aunts in some rooms as well which I’m not surprised , check out is at 10 am which is absurd , and they won’t let you stay for a minute longer  , someone should put a bulldozer to this place and rebuild it from ground up 
 lazy , cheap owners , who really don’t care about repeat customers or their reputation
