This is a perfect little bed and breakfast inn right down the street from the beach. We had a great time at Happy Landing Inn and the staff was wonderful. They brought us champagne for our anniversary and treats for our dog. Thank you staff.

The best bed and breakfast inn

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our stay in the Monroe room. Originally we were deciding between two places, but after my husband's phone conversation with Sandy the decision was made. It was Happy Landing Inn!  It's both exciting and sad that we get to stay here before they close at the end of October. 

The location is great and grounds are beautiful! It really is walking distance to everything (beach, shops, restaurants). We were traveling with two dogs and they were so great with both of them. I love that there was some delicious Sherry waiting in the room when we got there and that there is always chocolate Lacy cookies in the office. They also brought a bottle of champagne for my birthday!

The room was beautiful and located at the back corner of the property. There is a couch, two chairs and a small table between the two chairs. There was a coffee maker, mini fridge and DVD player with Marilyn Monroe DVDs in the room. The fireplace was on a timer which was nice because you didn't have to think about whether you turned it off or not.  There are also two fans for when it gets warmer. 

The living room window faces the outdoor fireplace but there is a sign that says "Quiet Zone" and they close it after 9pm. The front door was a bit of an issue because it is all glass with a 3/4 lace curtain. Since we have to pass by that door to go between the bedroom, bathroom and living room  I hung a blanket over the curtain rod for more privacy (and so the dog wouldn't bark at every person that walked by). 

The entire staff are really great. The breakfast was hardy and delicious (and the champagne made great mimosas)! They served a kind of egg casserole with different mix-ins each day, fresh croissants that were light and flakey (delivered fresh each morning), fresh fruit and OJ. Plus the doggies got a treat bowl too!  Since there is no other table in the room I just took the lamp off the small end table that was between the two chairs and turned the chairs towards the table. It made a perfect breakfast spot.

The only issues for us were the bed and doggie potty breaks . The bed was too firm for us and we tossed and turned for two nights. We have a memory foam hybrid mattress at home so we are use to some softness. Otherwise we would be back in s quick second!! Our pansy bodies are too conditioned, but you may be just fine. Also, since the dogs are not allowed to potty on the grounds you have to walk them through the neighborhood. It's really dark at night. There is a small park a short walk away which was convenient, but also dark at night. 

One odd thing about the suite is that it had 3 sinks. One in each room! Not sure why, but I used them all... cuz I just had to. :) 

I highly recommend you stay at the Happy Landing Inn before they close. And while you're there check out PortaBella for dinner!

We lived this little place right in the centre of Carmel. 

On arrival, out key was awaiting with a little note. The room was cute and even smelt clean!

And the sherry in the room! Great!!!

Would highly recommend.

A special place & special hosts

Happy Landing Inn certainly lives up to its name, just thinking of our stay there makes me smile.  It’s just totally charming.  Breakfast is served in your room, so in bed.  All the rooms are named after an iconic star.  Decor is gorgeous and chic.  Bathroom is a little small but it’s all adds to the charm.  Location is perfect within easy walking distance of everything.  Carmel is just lovely and I wish we had extended out stay.

We only stayed one night, wish we had time for more.  Rooms all a bit different, we were in one of the smallest (Hemmingway) with a double-bed.  Grounds were very clean, cute and quaint.  A nice outdoor fireplace in the commons area...  Service was exceptional - both of the ladies helping when above and beyond for service.  Breakfast was great (quiche, fruit and a croissant with tons of butter!).  Would surely go back to same place if/when we get back to Carmel.  Was ~ 6 block walk to the beach... and 1 block walk to restaurants and shopping.
