We chose the exquisite Asilomar room at Villa Mara for our daughter's wedding preparations, and it exceeded all our expectations. Right from our initial meeting with Roque, every detail for the perfect bridal suite was meticulously planned, from the ambiance-enhancing lighting to the breathtaking ocean view. The Villa Mara staff displayed impeccable attention to detail, ensuring the room was warm upon our arrival and even arranging an ice bucket with glasses for our celebration.

Villa Mara's charm is truly exceptional! Each room boasts its own unique beauty, creating a warm, luxurious, and inviting atmosphere. Every staff member we encountered was not only kind but also extraordinary in their service.  Discovering this hidden gem was a stroke of luck, and we couldn't be more grateful!

The Perfect Wedding Start!

We live in a neighboring community and were looking forward to a nearby get-a-way. After reading Villa Mara’s stellar reviews we made a reservation with Roque. Upon arrival, Roque greeted us with a genuinely warm, friendly, people-oriented demeanor. And George is clearly a natural in the hospitality business which lent to an overall welcoming, cozy, and effortless high-end vibe. We immediately knew this was going to be our spot for our get-a-ways. The staff are primo, ambiance is lovely, location is awesome, and the two-minute walk to the beach is a slice of heaven.

The experience was wonderful from start to finish.  The room, amenities, staff, cleanliness, food and overall trip was wonderful.  Walk to beach & sunset... walkable or easy drive to downtown Carmel.  Villa Mara staff was great!

If heaven exists then I imagine it looks like Villa Mara.

I have too many good things to say about this place. It would be silly for me to list them all. Suffice to say, my stay here was amazing. Olivia, Roque, Abdul and Robert are terrific and made me feel completely welcome. You could find other nice hotels but they won't have these special, amazing people.

I will definitely be back.

Heavenly

My wife and I were blown away with our stay at Villa Mara! We were immediately greeted by Roque and Robert (front of house staff) and treated like long-time friends. They assisted us to our room (Stillwater), which has an incredible view of Carmel Bay and Pebble Beach. It was immediately clear that not a single aspect in the room was overlooked. We loved the slippers, books on the nightstands, toilet with heated seat, and overall aesthetics of the room and bathroom, just gorgeous! After getting settled we headed down to the living room / bar. Johnathan and George were bartending, they made amazing martini's, and helped us with dinner reservations in downtown Carmel! In the morning we headed down again to the living room and Lorena brought us quiche and croissants from a local bakery, a fruit plate, bottomless coffee, and green juice, over the top.  We can't wait for our next stay?

One-of-a-Kind Stay in Carmel!!!!!

This is easily the nicest place to stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea. We have been coming for several years and this new hotel is what we've been longing for. Tucked in the neighborhood on Carmel Point, it feels like you are a local. Beautiful design - modern but warm. Great attention to details. Our room had a view of the ocean, which is just one block away. So morning walks along the beach and sunsets were stunning. Lots of outdoor seating options around fire pits. They have bikes that you can borrow, and ride into town. Service is friendly and even the small bar they have is well stocked. Definitely our go-to stop in Carmel from now on. Highly recommend.

Best Stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea

We stayed here with my parents- two rooms. Such an incredible experience. George and Jonathan took the best care of us. The bar and lobby there are SO chic. Great drinks and food selections. My mom is trying to convince my dad to buy the beds they have at this place because they were the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on! The rooms and views of the ocean were perfect too..  the detail everywhere. This is definitely my favorite place to stay in Carmel. ❤️

Favorite hotel in Carmel HANDS DOWN

I couldn't have been happier with my stay! This hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff were amazing and accommodating, rooms were beautiful, and the location is ideal. Everything about this hotel is exceptional and I had the best experience start to finish. 

An incredible spot!

This is nicest hotel in the Carmel area, by far. I’d even go as far as saying the Peninsula. The amenities and quality are very similar to those of the world famous Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles. It’s the closest to the beach, and leaps and bounds ahead of all the other Inns in town. Big ocean views, super friendly staff, a killer bar and bites menu including a caviar set up, plus a great breakfast with options. Rooms have AC and heated floors. High end finishes everywhere. I send all of our Silicon Valley and LA big hitter clients here, too. Always rave reviews at the end. 10 out of 10. Don’t miss this place.

Villa Mara Carmel is a gem! I enjoyed EVERYTHING about it.  The decor is stunning. Simple. Well decorated.  My husband and I are from the area so we did a 1 night "staycation" on Valentines Day. The hotel is in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood. It blends so well with all the Architectural homes and its a 5 min walk to Carmel beach. Our room had an outstanding view of the ocean and beach. The bathroom was plush. Tile with heated flooring and heated toilet seat. The bed was VERY comfortable and the pillows! I can't say enough about our host Jonathan. He was great. He was very welcoming and professional. Jonathan made us feel right at home. Who offers a glass of wine when you check in?? The breakfast was delicious!  We didn't have enough time to experience any of the 3 outdoor fire pits. Looks like I will have to book another "staycation"
