Delightful in almost every way. With a few changes it would be a perfect place.

It wouldn't be far off to say we stay here just to wake up and walk through the enchanting garden; however, there's more than the garden that makes us stay. It's so nice to have a separate cottage for privacy, quiet, and peace. We stay in Little John and love the whole aesthetic but especially the little banquette in the kitchen where we take our breakfasts. We also especially appreciate the number of lighting options in the living room, which lends itself to creating coziness. 

We sleep well on the king-size bed with very fluffy pillows and find the bedding to always be the right weight for the season. The gas fireplace is lovely in the living room on chilly summer evenings, as well. 

Breakfast is excellent as an expanded continental option, though my husband prefers a more hearty breakfast and we sometimes end up going out to meet his needs. Much appreciated are the other small touches--full ice trays, restocked coffee packets, cold bottles of water. 

I would say the one thing that lets the experience down slightly is the friendly-enough but not attentive service. We stayed once before and received a very warm welcome with an overview of the Inn's offerings, an explanation about breakfast, etc. This time we received "Here's your key!" in an envelope, with no inquiry as to whether we had any questions. It seems like the staff member thought we were checking in late (which we weren't and hadn't indicated at any point), so she was anxious to leave even though it was two hours before the stated closing time of the office. The second morning we were there, breakfast was delivered 25 minutes later than the time we had indicated. As we wake up at 5:30am, waiting until 8:30am to eat breakfast can be difficult--and waiting until nearly 9am is much harder.

The Gardens are Perfect--The Inn Nearly So

We have been going to Lincoln green for years and always book our next trip as we leave! The most quiet, beautiful and special place!

Spring trip to our favorite spot!

Overall, we enjoyed the location in Carmel and the size of our accommodation. Besides that, I definitely would not return. For the price that's charged and after reading all of the glowing reviews, we were actually very disappointed with our stay at the Morning Glory studio.

Issues, in no particular order:
1) Even though we paid an extra PET FEE, there is nothing "extra" provided for the dog like a bed, towel for drying them off from the beach or rain, a water bowl, or food bowl. Your fee covers poo bags from the office. Luckily we brought a beach towel for our dog but we had to use people dishes for water and food- which is pretty gross considering there was no dishwasher to sanitize them. Our apologies to the next guest. I can only imagine the dishes we used for ourselves had also been used by previous guests for their dogs. I asked in the office for a water bowl as soon as we arrived and she looked mystified why anyone would need a bowl for a dog.

2) ANTS. When we arrived I immediately saw the multiple ant traps on the kitchen counter and walked over to see the little ant parade in action. It was VERY stressful using the kitchen and by day 3 they were in the bedroom. Totally unacceptable.

3) Guest book was available with pencils for us to sign, however, the book was completely full and the last entry was one-year old. Why not replace it? Seems lazy.

4) We arrived on a cold, blustery day and tried to turn on what we thought was a heater in the living room. We turned the circulating one on in the bedroom but had to ask for help from the office for the living room. She said, "Oh that doesn't work, that's just decor. They should probably remove it." This room is a tight fit already and space is at a premium. Why is this stupid thing still here?

5) Motion-activated light in closet is dead. No one has bothered to replace the batteries.

6) Poorly applied paint on kitchen cabinets is peeling everywhere. Gross.

While the location and grounds are extremely impressive, up close this place is NOT up to snuff. On the bright side, the bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast was nice, but our guess is that the owners have stepped away from daily management.

Don't believe the hype (Morning Glory Studio)

We have been going to Lincoln Green for many many years.  It is clean, quiet, and the staff is very helpful.  The cottages are delightful, even Morning Glory.  They are located a short walk to Carmel Beach and to the State Beach.  Also, a little longer walk to the Ocean Ave. area.

Many Repeats

Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing Christmas vacation. Love the small cozy cottages and the privacy they provide. The short 5 minute stroll to the beach makes it  an easy walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Thanks to the staff for the great service as well.

Peacefully relaxing Christmas stay as always

My sister and I stayed here for the second time in less than a year. We absolutely love this place! The garden is absolutely gorgeous and the cottages are spacious and comfortable. We love that it's a little off the beaten path so it's quiet and peaceful. We are close to a fabulous walking path along the coastline so this is a fantastic way to start or end your day. We will be back again next year for sure!

Our favorite spot in Carmel!

A 5 star experience from the greeting at reception to checkout. Beautiful property with flower gardens and the cottages are fantastic outfitted with a kitchen and all the equipment you need. Furnishings are very tasteful and the bed was quite comfortable. A wonder experience and just a short walk to the lovely Carmel State Beach. The property is located away from the bustle and traffic of downtown Carmel so very quiet and restful. Plus very dog friendly.

A Restful Oasis

This was our first time staying in the cottages; I ended up booking here because the place we normally stay at was fully booked. And I am so glad I found this place...we loved that there was a bbq and a full kitchen so we didn't have to eat out every night and breakfast was delivered to our cottage every morning. Super short walk to the beach and only about 1 mile to town to go shopping and wine tasting. Really the best of both worlds and the neighborhood is really charming too. I already booked our stay for next year!

Sweet cottages and beautiful gardens near the beach

Enchanted cottages in the heart of Carmel-By-The-Sea? Yes please! My husband and our senior dog just spent a simply delightful weekend at the Lincoln Inn and we cannot stop raving about it. 

We are both 40, work way too much, and it’s hard to for us to “turn off,” but this place did the trick. From its exquisite gardens to delicious morning breakfast, this place really lets you relax and enjoy the magic of Carmel. (Oh, and you are probably a 5 minutes MAX walk to the beach!) 

Beautiful accommodations and excellent service make this slice of the English Cotswolds in Carmel a splurge that is worth every cent.

A slice of the English Countryside in Carmel!

Thank you so much to Julie, Norberto, Aurea, and staff!!  We held our intimate wedding at Lincoln Green Inn's beautiful garden and our family stayed in the cottages.  Julie and Norberto have been so kind and gracious to us throughout our wedding planning and Aurea and staff were delightful during our stay.  The day before our wedding, there were wonderful gardeners working hard to put fresh flowers in the garden.  Each step of the way, Julie and staff worked with us to create the intimate and memorable experience we wanted.  

We fell in love with the charming English style cottages by the sea and we loved the hospitality displayed by all the staff during our wedding and stay.  Lincoln Green Inn will always hold a special  place in our hearts, and we hope to be back to celebrate our anniversaries!
