I found Carthage Inn a well-worn establishment, giving me a good night's rest, for a reasonable price. When it comes to motels, I don't ask for much-just a clean room, with WiFi that can connect me, even if it is a bit slow.  Carthage Inn offered those things and was close to my meeting place with a family member.  The front desk person, who is also the owner, was pleasant and business-like.

A Clean and Comfortable Motel

We came to see the Christmas lights from a small town in oklahoma. This place was close to the lights. It isn't fancy, or new, but it was clean. Definitely more than fair for the price. My only suggestion for them is maybe a better choice in pillows for customers? The pillows were all four very hard and flat. I'm getting older and my neck doesn't do so well with flat pillows. 
I saw the pictures on here. Not sure what happened during their visit...but I don't feel they accurately reflect the amenities. Wish I had of thought to take pics last night, but sadly I didn't. Hope this helps. 😉

Fair deal for the price and clean.

On the plus side, desk person was congenial, room was pretty clean, sheets and towels clean and not worn out.  Lighting was poor, which was good.  Heater was noisy but worked well enough.  The matter that prompts this review is the breakfast.  If you call half a loaf of beat-up white bread, corn flakes, and orange colored "punch," the latter claimed to deliver 100% of vitamin C.  No place to sit in the area.  There was a box of doughnuts on the table, which appeared to come from a local bakery, but they were pretty lousy.  No fruit, no tea, no decaf.  Price was low, and rightly so.

The inn is old, outdated, and could use a refresh but was clean and low priced. Nice tv and plenty of hot water. Would recommend for those on a budget or ones who don't spend much time in the room. Exterior entrances and a bit dark in the parking lot

Rundown but clean

We showed up in Carthage as a big event was taking place so  were happy just to get a room, but if you have a choice, stay elsewhere.    The person at reception was not friendly and gave me a key programmed for the room next to ours.  The room  was barely  okay, bathroom small and in need of update.  When the  refrigerator door was opened it  stuck  to the carpet.  The outside stairs were in bad shape.   I think some have  been replaced over time with many still needing to be replaced.  The best thing about the hotel is its proximity to Iggy's Diner.

Needs Maintenance

I stayed here on short notice due to another place that jacked up there prices taking advantage of people coming to town for an event. I feel it is wrong to do that. 

This place was consistent at a sale price. quiet room and good bead. wish I was able to spend more time in the room.

Decent place for a reasonable price. Not much of a Breakfast.

The only positive things I can say about this place is that it had a good air conditioner, it was a convenient location, and the staff was quick to help....Now, for the bad.....

Initially, I was struck by how dated everything was in my room. I got over that thinking, "Well, I only paid $50 and it looks clean." However, after a closer look, I realized that it is not just a situation where they need to update their furniture, it really is bad. You can judge for yourself from the pictures I'm posting whether or not you're willing to even pay $50 for this room.  I regret my decision.  

The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable.  There was a lump in the middle of my king-sized bed and the bed was hard. The sink had a long hair and other "stuff" in it which was a clear indicator that this had not been cleaned.  My shower head was about eye-height and I'm not tall.  It sprayed out the side of the shower, wetting the floor and carpet. Brown toilets?! Just when I thought I'd survive this one night nightmare, I turned around in my hard desk chair to see that I had slept with a large spider all night. I'm not opposed to having my dog in my bed occasionally, but spiders are a no-go for sure.  This spider was about as big as one of those toy poodles! Save your money and sleep in your car; you'll at least avoid the spiders.

Really Bad

This place looks like it needs a major cleaning and renovation.  Main office had clutter everywhere and the kids of staff running around which made the place feel like I had walked into someone's messy home rather than an inn. Furniture in tiny "breakfast area" was falling apart. No one was at the desk at both check in and check out time, but service was okay when they arrived. We killed 3 of at least 4 flies in our room.  Bathroom door was rotting, so it wouldn't close properly. Dust was hanging from the ceiling and fell on the bed. Beds were okay. Walls were so thin, so the person coughing in the middle of the night in the next room kept me up. Breakfast was basic continental -- a box of danish, bread with condiments, milk, coffee and juice. We booked and paid for 2 nights, but went to another place the 2nd night mainly so I could get some sleep.  The place also didn't feel very safe with dimly lit exterior. It's in a good location, but price was too high for what we got.

Needs a major renovation

On the way to Springfield, I'm here and I don't regret it, clean rooms and typical American breakfast, but little choice and no seating, and I'd like to go to Iggy's Diner for breakfast, 500 meters away, $55 quite cheap compared to others on the way.

Nice and quiet

We stayed one night at the Carthage Inn. The reception was very friendly and the owner of a good boardroom. Very large room, with TV, refrigerator, coffee shop, etc. free Wi-Fi. Excellent bed and huge bed! For the few negatives: very dark room if you don't turn on the lights and very old decor. But the whole thing was very clean. We paid $61. I recommend.
