The staff is friendly and helpful. The front desk clerk was fantastic , he made us feel welcome. Rooms are clean fresh and newer looking. Pets are welcome with a small fee. There is a dog walking area close by. Breakfast us included. The hotel is close to restaurants and not far from the Mammoth Caves.

Pet friendly option

Road weary, we checked in just wanting a place to sleep before hitting the road again the next morning.  The room was impressive and very clean.  The best part was the customer service.  Lucky checked us in and made it easy.  He also made us feel welcomed and our business appreciated.  We were so impressed, we have a mini-vacation planned to stay at that hotel the whole time.

Great place!

Just as I will call out a inferior motel,I will also give props to an outstanding property and experience. Was surprised at cleanliness and appearance upon arrival. Well light..large property. I have stayed at many Econolodge brand and this was by far the nicest I have ever been to. I would definitely stay again.

I found the management was extremely helpful. My room was obviously recently updated, clean and modern. The pool was actually perfect and clean. For the price I was blown away. I highly recommend this hotel. Seriously, you can’t beat this place. 

Shocked 

It's a motel. We stopped overnight on a long drive. The rooms were clean and smelled great. The lobby was clean and maintained. The beds were comfortable. Overall great stop for a night.
The front desk lady wasn't the friendliest but it was late at night. The real neagtive was there was a group of 7 or 8 people driking outside. Then around the corner another group of 3 doing the same. They were loud and with all rooms having a front wall window the noose drifts in. The groups were obviously work groups staying at the hotel mayne construction idk but thats not really the hotels fault though itd be ni e if they'd been requested to quiet down or go to their rooms.
We also woke up by kids in the morning so the noise drifting in your room is probably an issue no matter what.
We would stay as a one night stop agaim but not an extended stay.

Good overnight stop for price

We hadn't planned on staying in this hotel for vacation but unforeseen circumstances with our cabin forced us to leave and look for accommodations elsewhere. We showed up at midnight to book for the next four nights. The room we got had been recently renovated and was just fine for the rest of our stay. A/C was cold and we had a fridge and microwave. Pool was open but we did not use it. It looks to me like this hotel is being updated all around. Wasn't fancy but it worked for us and the lady at the front desk was very helpful!

Better than expected!

There were inconsistencies in the listing.  Some places identified 2 doubles, others 2 full beds. I thought well, we could deal with 2 full beds, though  we much prefer a king.   When we first pulled up, we exclaimed what disrepair the place seemed to be in.   We also noticed that the pool was closed - on 4th of July weekend.   Exterior lighting fixtures were missing (wires showing).  The first door I tried to enter the lobby was chain locked!  An unusually homely lady waved for me to go to another entrance.  I immediately looked online and found an alternative with an opening right across the street.    We took the cancellation penalty rather than check in.  As we left, my husband said he wouldn't have let me check in. It was scary. I've seen better welfare hotels.

We got there on 3-6-2020 and stay 2 night we check out on 3-8-2020 we was there to go to a wrestling match on Saturday night in cave city we have stay at this motel a few time when it was days inn and then it changed to motel 6 and now it Econo Lodge so at first we told the lady at the desk we need a room with 2 bed and smoking room it was me and my special need son and my oldest son and my little dog well she got a room for us it was room 113 a little nice room got out truck unload everything put away and my son when and ask for a ashtray cause it did not have one in the room well he come back mad as could be and said that room was not a smoking room so she had to move us so I said oh hell naw we told her smoking 3 different time so we when a head pack up put stuff back in the truck and she move us to room 136 A sorry room it stay cold in there we did not have a a frigerator a microwave a hair dryer by faith no nothing a very very bad cold room and when we got ready to leave to go somewhere we shut the door and damn door never locked anyone could have reached out and grabbed the door handle and open the door and go straight into our room it would not lock what you left out so we have stay there when it was days inn motel 6 they was all right but not the best but I will start staying somewhere else when I go to cave City you going to put me in a room we done unloading things told you smoking three times we're getting a room put the stuff away no ashtray we ask for ashtray that's not a smoking room so we had to load up move to another room it was cold in there no refrigerator no microwave no hair dryer no nothing the room was not that real clean so I refuse to ever stay there again when days inn and motel 6 I stayed they was okay at least I had a refrigerator I had a microwave I had a hair dryer and they didn't put me in a room that I didn't ask for birthday is smoking I got a smoking room and would not have to unload a pack backup to move to another room sorry to say anything about a motel or anything may God bless anyone that stays there at that motel thanks a lot

Well I will just say it like this. We visit here quiet frequently and this is the only motel we will stay at. Very friendly staff and clean rooms. Also excellent prices!!!!! I don't know what else to say other than thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Wonderful stay!!

Probably my worst experience yet. I was so disappointed. I picked my teenage niece up for a visit from Foster Care. States custody. We rented the room because the pool was still open and we are having extremely hot weather in our area. There was a 45 minutes snafu in the lobby before I could get checked in. The room was less than perfect. But the pool was the reason we were there so we were okay with the room(the bed was clean.) We immediately changed and went straight to the swimming pool. The foul odor was overwhelming. You couldn't get more than Waist Deep without the rotten dirty armpit Dirty Feet chlorine smell hit you in your face and took your breath away. We tried to ignore it. It was so nasty that we couldn't even get our heads wet. I immediately made her get out and rinse that off of her. I called the front desk to which the young lady made several excuses. Tried to explain to me why the pool was healthy and it's supposed to smell that way. To which I responded that several people had become ill and even died this summer in this state from nasty pools. I expressed to her that we did not want to stay there at all. She told me I would have to take that up with the manager the next day. I called the next day and was put on hold and no one ever came to the phone. I called my card services number and reversed the charges that night. On Monday morning September 30th my card was charged a third time and my bank account was overdrafted with those charges. I was going to settle with the less than cleanliness of the room for the simple fact we wanted the pool. For $42 I wasn't going to complain until that nasty filthy pool water hit me in the face. I now have an investigation through my bank. I have contacted the corporate offices of Choice Hotels. The Econo Lodge on Gardner Lane in Cave City Kentucky is not a family place to stay in my opinion.
