We spent four nights there with the main purpose to see the Northern Lights. So I booked the Northern Lights apartment. It turned out to be a great choice. We first saw Aurora from our room one night and then moved to observe the whole amazing process on the deck outside. It was mostly cloudy those days, so we felt very fortunately to see it at least once.
The clean and spacious living room and full kitchen means you can be indoor without feeling constrained in a usually small hotel room. And we actually cooked our breakfast after shopping in the nearby Safeway.
We (two people) only used one bedroom, so it was kind of waste to have two bedrooms. But if you have more people in the group, it's a much better deal.
From Alaska Haven, it's easy to drive (about 25 min) to various attractions in Fairbanks and it is a 80 minute drive to Chena Hot Spring on a snowy day. 
It really means that if you stay at Chena Resort, the drive to Fairbanks is long.
The Paws of Adventure, only 15 minute drive from Alaska Haven, is a good and nearby place to try dog sled. The guy Peter, who participated in the Yukon Quest this year, is wonderful for a chat and he took great photos too.
The host, Simone and Steve, are friendly people, who respect your privacy as guests. Don't hesitate to seek advice.
The only question I forgot to ask is the bit sulfuric smell in the tap water and shower, but just take it as shower in a hot spring. We did buy bottle water from Safeway to make coffee and tea.

A much better choice than hotel

We had a great and peaceful stay at Alaska Haven.  It's a great location and the owners, Steve and Simone were very helpful and genuinely nice people.  Our visit was during the winter and want to come back in the summer.

Of our 3 "non-hotel" lodging destinations on this trip, Alaska Haven was the nicest, most comfortable, cleanest and most friendly.  We only stayed two nights and I wish we had stayed longer.  The beds were firm memory foam and I loved them, the location was very good, close to North Pole, grocery stores and Fairbanks.  We took their kayaks out for a morning paddle on the river behind the house and made smores at the fire pit while waiting for the Aurora to show up.  I'd love to come back again and stay longer.

Wonderful Place to stay.  Wish we had stayed longer

It may not be the easiest to find. But once there, it is very secluded and peaceful. The property is right by the river.  We were there when it was raining and overcast so cannot enjoy the outdoor.
Very nice place and reasonable. Owners Simone and family very friendly.
Breakfast was good, rooms were good size and clean.

Words can not describe how wonder of an experience we had staying in this Apartment. We had to arrive late, and then after two nights we had to leave early, but they treated  us well.  Sadly it did rain on us most of the time, but this would be a perfect place to see the northern lights.  Very peaceful.  Very friendly owners.  You will not be disappointed in your stay.
