Isaiah was awesome! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. Great location and great value. And if you’ve kept track on the Internet for any amount of years, you will know that Charleston is one of if not the best places to visit and or live the United States continental.

Excellent choice

The hotel exceeded my expectations as a IHG Diamond Elite member. Prior to my arrival I was contacted via text if there were any specific requests I had. I requested a early check-in, which was accommodated. Upon my arrival I was up graded to suite. The room was very nice on the top floor with a bedroom, bathroom, and living room. The staff continued to check in to make sure all my needs were being met. I assured them they were. The little shop had a great selection of beer and wine and some snacks. The hotel was very clean and quiet. A plus side is that it's adjacent to a Publix grocery store and parking garage. I will definitely consider staying there again 

Fantastic Place 

This was one of the best hotel experiences ever!  Staff was friendly, knowledgeable & helpful- especially Keenan & Rochelle. Hotel was very clean. Fresh water always available & great breakfasts. Frig & microwave in the room. Publix grocery next door. Our stay was within several blocks walking distance to MUSC. After long & stressful days at the hospital for husband’s surgery, the kindness & care of Keenan & Rochelle makes Holiday Inn Express & Suites my 1st choice when MUSC is necessary. 

Best hotel near MUSC

This hotel has pros and cons that make it an average hotel. 

Pros:
-Location is pretty good. You still need to drive to the historic area, but it’s not a bad drive.
-It’s around the corner from the Publix grocery store.
-The lobby is clean.
-The pool was clean and area around it.
-Overall the staff was friendly.

Cons
-Check-in: A room wasn’t ready at check-in. The reception staff was blaming it on housekeeping (and the linen laundry). We went out for dinner and had to call only to find out a room was ready (they were supposed to call me). This was about 3 hours later.
-Then back at the hotel, the room key machine malfunctioned and they couldn’t get anyone a key. If you really needed to get to your room, a staff member had to bring you up there to let you in.
(I know stuff happens, but it seemed like this was the first time something screwy has ever happened and they didn’t seem quite ready to handle it.)
-These reviews on here only go back a few years but the room would make you think the hotel was a bit older - Leaking shower door, warped wood on base of bathroom door, toilet that needed a new flusher, etc.
-Housekeeping cleaned the room and took the used bath towels, but they didn’t leave us new ones. When I went to the front desk for me, I started to say that housekeeping took the old towels and the employee finished my sentence, “but they didn’t give you new ones.” Guess it’s happened a time or two before!
-In my opinion, the hallway lighting was too dim. 
-Management needs to make things more available at the front desk for its employees because it’s annoying that the front desk people kept having to disappear in the back.
Breakfast on a Monday morning isn’t fully replenished from the weekend crowd.
-And parking - It’s $15/night to park in a lot that doesn’t have enough spaces for at least one car per room. If you can’t park there, you have to park in the garage across the street and get it validated at the front desk. However that didn’t stop people from parking in the fire lanes around the building. And no one got towed. There’s an empty lot next door they should purchase just to increase the parking lot!
-Other fees: $50/night for a dog, resort fees, etc.

Overall what I thought was the most inexpensive hotel turned out to be one of the most expensive because of all the extra fees. The hotel needs to catch up to the fees it charges.

Hotel Doesn’t Live Up to Its Price Tag

I normally come to this property all the time. I loved the drive that the staff has at this property.Kim in house keeping is a sweet lady always speaking.Antonio that work nights is a Very helpful and hardworking person our tub was not draining he came right up and fixed it with a pleasant attitude.Alicia is a Ray-of Sunshine her and her team are awesome in the breakfast area Alicia walk around to every table taking plates and talking with  every guest she see.Rochelle, Dayana and Kesha&khya are awesome also they checked me in with a smile and out with a smile. The Guy who was at the pool cleaning it was very rude and trying to be aggressive I did not get his name he was a large guy not friendly at all. the lady Manager had her guy friend chasing her around the parking lot.I was there with my wife for a week and weekend so I seen a lot that I was not suppose to see as a paying guest.My wife was terrified.the same guy we seen Chasing her we seen them coming off my floor out of a room the last couple of nights.I asked one of night guys that work there what was her role there at the property he stated oh that’s our GM she always do that.my wife was so irritated we left early a day early.i only knew she worked there because I seen her behind the front desk.

Very Disappointed

At 0ver 900 dollars for 3 nights it was way over priced , stained ceilings in the bedroom, the bathroom needs to be refurbished, the breakfast on plastic plates, cutlery and even cups. Maybe as Europeans it's just not something we are accustomed to. The shuttle bus was every hour, not every 15 minutes as advised by staff, the pool was dirty. On the positive - the reception staff were really helpful and friendly, the breakfast room staff just didn't want to be there, I'm not a big fan of staff with iPods in and chatting to family and friends when they are supposed to be at work.

Dissappointing

Our stay here was a very mixed bag. To start with, the location was very good being only a mile from downtown, but without the downtown prices. The staff we interacted with (front desk and breakfast crew) were very friendly and helpful. The parking lot can easily fill up each night, but we were able to get the last spot on a few of our nights. There is a garage next door, but it is not very convenient. When walking into the lobby, there is a bit of an odor. We found the breakfast to be pretty good overall, and they even had Gluten-Free bagels.

For the room itself, it was pretty large with a comfortable bed. The bathroom shower did have good water pressure. However, there were a few issues with the room. We did find one of the light bulbs out, the towel bar in the bathroom was broken and the TV and art work in the room were hung crooked. The shower door also made a very loud noise when opening/closing. In addition, the couch had a strong odor to it. These are the types of things housekeeping should notice immediately and call maintenance in for, but that is not happening. When housekeeping came each day, they didn't always replenish the cups or wash cloths. This shows that there is definitely a management and/or accountability gap at the hotel.

Mixed Bag

We stayed here with family members in town for a wedding. Supposedly, our “group rate” was a bargain price. However, I should have booked on one of the online sites (eg TripAdvisor) . Group rate = $249. Online rate = $168. 
The room itself was small, very worn and old looking. Bathroom was a patchwork, ancient disaster where the shower leaked through the sliding glass door. $15 overnight parking- a joke.
“Amenities”- ha, ha..,another joke.
Hotel is not close enough to downtown Charleston activities to walk. 
There are much better options in town.

Ripoff…not worth staying here

This is the mother of awful hotels. This is like hell on earth. 
The smells were awful, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything at all hours. There is a constant motor running all night. I do NOT recommend. You might as well sleep in your car.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in

This has to be one of the worse hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The front check in clearly had issues as the line was out the door for hours, yet the GM stayed hidden. We are a family with small children and past 4 pm, we still couldn’t check in. When we finally did (only because we opted for a different room that wasn’t what we originally booked), came into the room without proper set up for 4 people. And the bathroom was gross. The hallway stunk of cigarette smoke. The staff were clearly too occupied dealing with Checkin and ignored all other guest accommodations like filling up water, etc. Never again.
