Upon arrival our room was musty with mold/mildew on the ceiling.  The refrigerator is broken with two small dorm refrigerators.  No ice on the premises.  No cable TV.  Internet spotty in our room floating in and out of data.  Dirty sitting room furniture in shabby shape.  Brother’s room is 80 degrees with no ability to adjust temperature.  Called emergency number several times.....will get back with us in the morning (only an emergency if it happens prior to 5:00).  Wish we had gotten more accurate information from this site prior to our visit.  Need to remove this Inn from your rental recommendations.  Will update this review if things are addressed.

Cannonboro Inn-Shabby, no ac, no internet in our room, no ice, furniture looks like it came from Salvation Army in 1960

VERY disappointed. We stayed here 15 years ago and was highly impressed, so wanted to re-visit. No where near as charming as before. Very little upkeep was visible, gardens overgrown, and terrace/porch roof propped up with bare lumber, etc.  No staff on hand to welcome, just a note to look in mailbox for room key. While the room (#1) was clean, the signs of neglect were obvious. Tiny bathroom had missing towel bar on door, (1 bracket still on door), and shelf above sink was missing. Breakfast was a few muffins, some apples, and coffee/tea,  no where as appealing as before. 

Fallen on hard times

We stayed at the "Cannonboro Inn" for a couple of nights.  It's a beautiful old home furnished with some nice old furniture.  It is located in a quiet neighborhood, and is across from the MUSC courtyard. It has a  very nice porch located on half of the house.  Even though it is a nice house, there were a  couple of drawbacks. First, our bed's mattress, even though it was quite comfortable, needs to be replaced.  It sags in the middle which makes you move to the center of the bed.  Also, there is NO air conditioning, just a standing fan.  I don't recommend going here during any of the warm, or hot, months.  One other thing I didn't care for was this place cost us $259 per night.  That's not cheap!  For breakfast, all there is are some muffins, coffee., and some light ham filled croissants.  Our second morning there was no coffee.  Coffee is a necessity for us first thing in the morning, so that was disappointing.  We ended up going to a "MacDonald's" for breakfast, and coffee.  We've stayed at much less expensive places than here that have much better breakfast, and more comfortable beds, and better parking areas.  I don't think we'd stay here again, unless we absolutely had to for some reason.

We rented a clean, quiet room for two weeks at the Cannonboro Inn Bed & Breakfast.

There are 8 rooms in the B&B and only a total of4 packets of tea available for all of the guest each morning.

The second morning at the inn, we asked if the inn Manager, Ashely, if she had any camellia tea and the response from Ashley was “What you see is what you get.” Plus “There is a store a couple of blocks away - go there and see if they have that.” So her nick name became “Nurse Ratched ” from the movie One flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. If you loved Nurse Ratched, you will love Cannonboro Inn.

Nurse Ratched sat in her small office staring st her computer and was not interested In providing any help or advise beyond  “What you see is what you get.” 

2 week vacation 

We booked this because of its proximity to MUSC. We wished we would have read izzysmommy2017's review before we did. We totally agree with everything that was said. The keys are left for anyone to take. The room was not clean (garbage left in dresser drawer). We found a baby roach crawling in the bed, left a message with Ashley about it and never heard back. (We finally met Ashley when we checked out and told her about the roach. She was totally disinterested.) No one was there to greet us during our entire stay. When we booked we noticed it said "continental breakfast". When asked about it we were told we could go down the street to the Hominy Grill to get a real breakfast. It is a shame that this lovely old home is not a first class bed and breakfast.

Good Location But...

Located in a beautiful old house, this little boarding house is the perfect stop to visit the beautiful Charleston, very good restaurants and bars nearby, just downtown.

Location north of the centre (restaurants and seaside).This hotel is a really nice place to stay.However, I recommend not to choose a room facing the street, the hotel facing the hospital, the activity of the trucks is quite early in the morning....The breakfasts are divine, the hotel staff and the manager are very friendly and their advice is wise. go go go go!!!!0)
