The first room they gave us had not been cleaned. There was no toilet paper. Light for bathroom didn’t work so they switched us to the next room which had not been cleaned, no toilet paper. The towels were dirty and look like poop on them. Second day there had to ask for toilet paper. Office was closed so I asked a staff member who was cleaning another room for paper. She rolled her eyes and gave me one roll. I asked if I could get two since they were very small. She sighed very loud rolled her eyes again. 

Drama inn

The bed covers and towels/wash cloths was clean. But we found some trash and someone's socks on the floor. Mirrors and windows needs cleaning. No bags for the ice pucket. This motel really needs to be renovation. For the condition of the room it is over priced.  Only one man and a teenage boy working here. I think rooms would be cleaner it their were more staff workers. We did enjoy sitting out by river which was the reason we stayed here. Usually stay at Newfound Lodge but it wasn't open for season jet.

Over priced for shape the room was on.

We had a reservation made through Expedia this past Friday night.  We arrived at the hotel at 6PM to find the office closed and locked up.  There was a sign on the door saying we are pleasantly full,  There was a place for an emergency #, but I had been erased.  Also the sign said the office was open till 9PM.  There were 3 other families out there waiting got check in also. Finally one of the ladies decided to call 911.  She spoke to the police for a long time.  Finally they said they would look into it and call her back.  Finally they did call back said they had gotten a hold of someone and that someone from management was coming over there to talk to us. Well a young man came downstairs from the 2nd floor.  He probably lives on the property, He said there were no more rooms and there was nothing he could do.  Said the owner had been killed in a tragic accident a couple of weeks before and they did not have access to any reservations. Well the same owner owns the ElCamino motel about a mile or two away.  We know this from having stayed there before.  So we drove over to the El Camino to find that it was closed fully closed not cars there at all.  A sign on the door said if you have reservations here call the Drama Inn. We tried calling the #, but it just rang and rang never answered. so we were literally out in the cold to find our own room in a busy tourist area over a holiday weekend. Finally after checking with several places we found one at a much higher price, but we took it as they said it was their last one.  I believe it because later some people came to the desk and they told them they were full.  I think the other place was taking walk ins all day and whatever reservations happened to show up for rooms for either the Drama Inn or the El Camino.  When they filled them all they just locked up the office. Had the one lady not called the police we would be wondering what happened.  They were obviously doing business because the parking lot was full.  I have worked in hotels for 45 years so I know overbooking happens, but in a reputable hotel they help you find other accommodations and usually pay for them or at least the difference.  Not so with the Drama Inn.  Please do not stay in this unreputable establishment.

Worst Experience Ever.  Hotel Not Reputable.

By no means a 5 star establishment. Room was clean. Office staff were very nice. Let us check in early. Price was great for what we got. I have paid twice what we were charged for much worse. I would have no problems staying again!

No problems at all

Ok first of all I have to point out that I am by no means a hotel/motel snob especially when it comes to Cherokee which has more than its fill of dated and overpriced motels. This one, however, is woefully filthy. 

Booked a room for 3 nights....got one on the first floor and immediately after walking in, the musty odor was overwhelming. Ceiling tiles were covered with black mildew, the toilet seat was a fraction the size of the actual toilet bowl, the carpet was dirty, and I immediately spotted a German roach on the mattress. I was disgusted but soooo exhausted that I was actually willing to overlook it and take a nap. BAD mistake. Night time was an absolute horror show. German roaches were all over the stand the TV was on, literally crawling up the walls, in the bathroom, and IN THE BEDS. I counted no less than 3 on the pillow and at least 2 on the headboard. Who can sleep in those conditions????? 

Eventually I couldn't take even being there anymore, so we checked into another hotel further down on Tsali Blvd. The next morning we went to give the key back and told the employee what happened. She rudely said there were no refunds and that she saw 1 or 2 roaches in the room but that it wasn't an infestation. smh

 Also, don't be fooled by the description talking about riverfront balconies as if it's a given or as if it makes up for everything else wrong with that dump; our room didn't have anything except for 1 screenless window facing the river.

Roach Motel

As soon as we walked in we seen roaches five within five minutes. When we told the lady I really can’t call her that she was very rude got loud a smart mouth very far from a lady. I believe she was drunk. She came down two more times to harass us as we was getting our stuff out of the room cause we refused to stay there VERY rude each time. Once was because she wanted to see where we seen the bugs. I showed her and showed her the smashed one on the table and where her little boyfriend who had to come down to the room also seen one. His response was your just going to have bugs it was built in 1977. Perfect name for the place with that chick there. DRAMA INN it’s definitely drama. She said she lives upstairs and she doesn’t have roaches lol such an idiot. If you want to deal with unprofessionalism drama drunks with bugs literally coming out the wood work then that place is for you. They also told us that every hotel was packed it was either stay there or stay at the casino for 400 a night but we went right up the road and stayed at lodge inn way nicer and cheaper

Do not stay there

We wanted to get away for the weekend of 04/09/2021 and made reservations at Drama Inn.  Told them that we would be there before 11 pm to check in.  Arrived at 10.30 pm and was told that they gave our room away.  This is a Friday night and all the hotels in the area was fully booked.  We drove 4-5 hours to this location and was stranded with no place to stay.  Needless to say we were mad.  How in the world can they give your room away when you told them from the beginning that you were going to arrive late because we still had to work that day.  This is really poor customer service and a sorry way to run a business.  Thank goodness that I was able to finally find a cute little hotel in Bryson City, about 20 minutes away, at the Ridge Top Motel and Campground.  I would definitely stay with the Ridge Top again before I would give any of my time or money to the Drama Inn.  The owners were friendly.

Never Again

We were there for 3 nights and didn't receive housekeeping services at all.  When we checked in the front desk lady was extremely nice; however, the morning we checked out the person in the office was extremely rude.  We were shocked that they would have such a rude woman actually responsible for guest relations.  The building needs a lot of repairs but overall it was an okay experience.  It's hard to find motels that accept pets so our options were limited.

Great place if you have pets.

Old smelly nasty,  dated, dirty, worse bed in the world like a rock , should be a $39 night  dump, none smoking room smelled like pot, cig burn holes all over,,I could not sleep,  way over priced  , a very bad stop

Wrong turn, ,nasty ,a bad dream

We stayed here many times over the last 20+ years but never again. We rented the hot tub suite as we do all the time we rent here. The back decks are very moldy covered in algae which makes them very slippery and my wife fell as they were like ice during the rain. She bruised here legs,arms, and hips. we contacted the front desk and told the clerk and she stated many people have fallen in the same area. told her to have the owner contact us he never did. the suite had bugs, ants crawling all over the floor, the hot tube would not work and the clerk stated that sometimes happens and stated it was motion activated   WHAT??, the ports in hot tube had green mold growing in them, we got a half roll of toilet paper, the shower light didnt work, the cable tv is all fuzzy like they were stealing it, 2 towels total in room, the coffee machine needed to be rinsed as ants were in it, the credit card machine was not working again which according to other reviews it happens alot so we had to get cash out of atm accross the street,just turned into a dive hotel were they dont care anymore. we took my wife to Emergency room when we got home and will be contacting our attorney as the owner still hasnt returned our call 3 days later.
