My review is based 100% on customer service as my husband and I did not actually make it down to stay. Our room was booked and we had just passed the cut off for the refund period when we found out my husband's grandma was going on Hospice care and not expected to make it through the weekend. With no expectations and assuming it would get me no where I decided to call the Lodge to see if they would make an exception and provide a refund. Lucky for me the owner is who answered the phone. Very compassionate man who once he heard our situation was kind enough to provide us a refund. Good customer service is hard to come by these days and this is one reason I always try to support the "little guy" as I feel they often provide better service than the large chains. We hope to make it down to the area soon and when we do we will definitely be booking at Rolling Hills Lodge! 

Exceptional customer service 

I would’ve given a 5 but the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable. Bathroom spotless. Older lodge with non HD tv’s and outdated furnishings which do not effect the quality of the stay - just an aesthetic notation. The hot breakfast torta with fruit was absolutely delicious.

They really do have Elk

The room smelled like someone sprayed an entire can of Lysol, the carpeted floor was moist from all the Lysol that was sprayed. This gave me a headache and prevented me from sleeping. The only plus side was the clean bathroom and price. 

Not great 

The lodge was quaint, simple and a little dated but was incredible with all the comforts of home including, a wonderful homemade plated breakfast. We will definitelty be back. The elk, wild turkey, hummingbirds and small songbirds are present and neighborly. Special thanks to Sue and Roberta for the warm welcome and   hospitality. 

All the comforts....

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well, but the refrigerator was unplugged and took a few hours to actually cool. This is not a lodgd but a small motel. There was a coffee maker in the room but no microwave. Althouugh I believe there might've been one on the office patio. There was an ice machine towards the far end of the building iin a little clost like room as well as a coke machine that wasn't working and looked like it hadn't worked in a couple of years. There was a microwave and toaster there but they were dusty and in close proximity to spiderwebs. They provided a breakfast of sorts but you had to go to the office window and bend down to ask for it from a person behind a lowered window. Then if there was room you could sit down on the little patio. If you want seconds you go to the window and ask again. No thanks. As I said, the room was decent and the bed comfortable. Just do not expect too much over that. Oh yeah, the "mountain view" is across the parking lot, the street, and the shops across the road.

Falsely Promoted, Average at Best

I guess my main question is our this motel is rated so high and an award winner on Trip Advisor. Evidently any establishment can be a Lodge. In reality this is a 60s style strip motel. 
The good, the room was clean and the bathroom has been recently updated. We stayed two nights but our schedule did not match their breakfast which is 8-9 Am only. They cook on hot plares in the office and hand it out the window.
As we arrived someone was walking past our room and asked if our refrigerator worked? We checked,  opened the door, smelled and rusty like it had been shut off a while. The room where the ice machine was at was old and dirty, it also held the microwave.  There is one, everyone shares it.
Again, not terrible,  but not what we expected based on all the reviews,  and the Lodge being a Trip Advisor award winner.

Very clean and quaint. We read reviews about the excellent breakfast, and it did not disappoint! Cooked fresh, along with fruit and rolls. Autumn visit, trees were perfect! Even had bench seats in front of lodge to relax on. Bed was comfy. Actually had good functioning tv channels, something you often miss in hill country.

Comfy and delicious!

Stayed two nights at beginning and ending trip on Blue Ridge Parkway.  Very motorcycle friendly.  Very clean. Excellent breakfast.  No lights over sink so made shaving difficult.  TV was fuzzy but tolerable.  Will be back.

Great owners, Quiet and Comfortable

Our room was small but very clean. There was a fridge and coffee pot in the room.  The staff was friendly and helpful.  We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast.  There were elk in the parking lot in the early morning. The location was fantastic. We could walk to the museum, play, and shopping.  

Great location. Good basic hotel.

Way overpriced, cheap damaged nasty looking furniture, chipped up toilet, cramped room with barely enough space for queen bed, plastic still on lamps, tiny bottle of watered down shampoo, no conditioner, toothbrush/paste.  Front office lobby was a huge piled up mess of supplies.
