This was the quietest place I have ever stayed in. That in itself is reason to write a review. The roms were rustic and yet comfortable and clean. I planned on staying 3 days but ended up there for 6 just because of the quiet atmosphere.  The staff was friendly and efficient. When there were issues in my original room with the TV reception the kind staff member upgraded me to another room which ended up being larger. I was pleasantly surprised at that service.
Access to shops and eateries were close by as well as Interstate Highways.
I will definitely return to this motel anytime I am in the Cheyenne Wyoming area.

Great Place to Relax and Unwind

Listen, you get what you pay for. The rooms are clean, sheets white, water hot and A/C unit functional. My dad is an exterminator and noted no signs of any type of bed bugs past or present is our rooms. I had an absolute blast at this motel, the family who runs this business is very friendly. Each room has a mini fridge and microwave. Only downfall to this place is the lack of outlets in the rooms, no outlets in the bathroom or by the vanities. Bring an extension card, ending up going down to Walgreens to get one. Motel is close to downtown, walkable or 5-10 min Uber. Not to mention this place is just a stone's throw from the best bar/package store in Cheyenne, the Eagle's Nest! 

If you're looking for luxury go elsewhere, if you're looking for a good ol' country time with good people, stay here!

Great Experience

The little lady at the service desk was delightful I am told; they are Asian.  We took the last two room she had..typically, Asian rooms are smelly and a little dirty plus lacking on amenities.
This was much different!  Both rooms had king size beds, white,white sheets and a beautiful blanket to keep one warm.  Room was clean, large, nice TV, Refrigerator and microwave.  It was quiet.  
This little lady was helpful in helping getting the truck and trailer parked safely...would recommend to anyone.

This was our last choice because of prior mistreatment

Picked this hotel off the web for a two night stay in May 2019. Quoted the price via booking.com and the lady at the reception tried to charge me another $26 as the 'proper rate'. Shown the booking and was charged at that price. Korean lady whose English was not too good.

Mom and Pop type motel set in the 1950's, complete with bamboo frontage on the reception desk.

Other than that perfectly adequate. Room was well lit, clean and tidy, toilets and showers clean with a change of towels each day.

The other guests were working men who set off at about 0630, and arrived back at 1730. Quiet, well behaved, and no problem.

Needs a bit of tlc on the outside of the building. 

Only five minutes from the centre of town, the railroad is about 200 yds away with trains throughout the night, but they did not intrude.

Ok for the money, and ok for me as I was travelling alone, but perhaps not ok for the wife as it is a bit down market for what we usually use.

Adequate

This is an old motel. It is not a luxury motel. We paid $55 for the night. The major complaint was it was a bit dirty. If the owners would wipe down the window sill, clean the fan vent and bathroom floor, I would make it a 5 star for this type of motel. Some people can park their cars under car ports.
There was coffee in the lobby. I am not sure if they have danishes or not because the container was empty. We were never told about coffee in the morning, just found it accidentally. 
 The air could have been a bit cooler. Surprisingly comfortable beds.

Affordable, Comfy and Safe

I stayed here and was amazed at the room.  It was quaint and very clean.  The furniture is rustic but very comfortable.  The owner was pleasant when I checked in.  It appears that they have been remodeling but I would have to applaud them for what I received.

Great place and value!

I live in Cheyenne and a homeless friend needed a place to stay for the night. I booked through Hotels.com on my mobile phone, and I also called the motel to inform them of my name and hers. The receptionist hung up on me because she did not understand english. I even asked her if there was someone else I could talk to. Later that evening, I called back and explained the situation to the owner. 

When my homeless friend showed up he was horribly rude to her. She had a photo ID as well as my name and a confirmation number. The owner forced her to leave. She called me and I attempted to call him several times, leaving messages (he had my money, after all), and he refused to answer or call me back.  I worked with hotels.com to change the reservation to the Motel 6, and Motel 6 was more than accommodating.

I am not one to write bad reviews, but I was appalled at the behavior of everyone involved at The Sands in this situation. I have since called the owner twice and he still has not returned my calls.

My homeless friend called me after check in at The Motel 6 and talked about how nice they were and how clean the bathrooms were. She was very grateful.

The Sands should be ashamed for putting her out in the cold like that.
