The hotel has the best price in town it seems and check in was easy enough.  The room itself is pretty old and not in the greatest shape.  There is a fridge and microwave in there and someone had left some ice cream in the freezer for who knows how long and was never cleared out by housekeeping at all.

Bathroom had a tub and shower and came with shampoo, but noticed burn marks on the tub.  It might be that the room is a smoking room, though I thought they were all non-smoking.  Might be why both my friends room and mine had the smoke detectors on the wall removed and placed in the dressers with the batteries detatched which housekeeping again should have replaced back as I assume it's illegal not to have a working smoke detector in the rooms.

The bed at least seemed clean for the sheets, the matress sheet though was stained pretty bad, but that wasn't a part one sleeps on anyways.

  If you want a good price though, it's tollerable for a night...

Good Price for a Night

Great place, cheap, clean, all you need!  Family owned, very nice people that work hard.  I would definitely stay here again.  The restaurant on site was awesome.  Best place in Childress for sure, don’t miss out.

Decent motel especially for the money. Room was clean. Bed was good. We slept the night soundly and that's all we were looking for. We would say here again. Had to ask at front desk for a couple of things but no problem.

Very friendly, very clean, spacious, comfortable, fridge, microwave, next to supercharger, great price! Pet friendly. Very friendly.  Clean clean clean.   Nice bed.  Not fancy-all the important stuff is covered at a bargain price.

Bargain

This place is dirty. The 2nd floor is in poor condition. Unless you have bleach, cleaning rags, ant spray and don’t plan on touching anything, just go elsewhere. I wanted to leave but hubby said no. By the time we left, he agreed we should have left.

STAY AWAY!

Most comfortable bed of ANY motel I ever stayed at! Best price in Childress. The owners Nita & Junior are very friendly. I stayed here last year (May/2018) while on vacation and made it a point to stay here again this year while headed to my destination... and again on my return. Clean rooms, great WiFi and TV. Big ice machine. Driving from Florida to Rockies/Desert, I used to drive to Amarillo on day 2 of my trip, but Childress is more convenient and less hassle. Each time I called to make reservation, they did not ask for my credit card, but instead asked that I notify them if I was not going to make it. Unfortunately, my arrivals were after midnight, but Nita was right there after I rang the night bell. I wish more motels were this friendly, comfortable and clean.

Best Deal In Childress

Cheap room, but the hotel was probably built in the 1940s, remodeled in the 1960s, and hasn't been touched since. Bar with patio in the parking lot and lots of highway noise. On the plus side, the room was clean and the front desk was friendly and efficient.

You Get What You Pay For

The reviews seemed to be so outstanding that I thought I had truly scored a tremendous deal at 45 bucks.  My rating scale might be different from some.  Here is how a place gets a star:  Clean gets one.  Nice, hot shower with good pressure gets one.  Comfortable bed gets one.  Workable AC which lowers the temp to 65 gets one.  Luxurious feel gets one.  Based on that, this place would get two stars.  One for a comfortable bed and one for a hot shower with good pressure.  However, I gave it 3 because it was so cheap and what can you truly expect for that money?  It felt really dirty to me.  I was going to put some ice bags in the freezer in the small refrigerator in the room, but the refrigerator was inoperative.  In the process, I got a small amount of water on the shelf above the non-working refrigerator.  I found a cloth in the bathroom to wipe it up and the cloth was very brown after wiping up the water.  I thought I would see if the refrigerator was unplugged or something so I got down on my knees to follow the connection to a power strip.  It was plugged in, but it was obvious no one had cleaned this "out of sight" are for quite some time.  I don't like dirty, regardless of how old or how new a facility is.  The lady who checked me in was quite friendly, but there was an older gentleman who was kind of "watching" the front for her who had the personality of that damp cloth I had to use.  Overall, I would not return, unless I only had 45 dollars in my wallet for a roof.  I like cheap, but not at the expense of cleanliness.  Looking at some of the other reviews, perhaps I got a really bad room, but since I only saw one other vehicle in the parking lot besides mine, they would likely have not picked the dirtiest one to give me.  Also, a pet peeve is the AC was really old and could not be set less than 72.

Next time I will spend a little more.

My kids and I were travelling from Seattle to Dallas, and this was our final (fourth) night before reaching our destination.  For weary travelers, you cannot ask for more.  The room was impeccably clean (although dated) and the double room was more spacious than many newer motels tend to be.

Knowing the desk was not 24 hours, and our arrival was midnight-ish, we called ahead and reserved a room.  They were happy to expect us on our arrival.

The smaller windows on the main floor help block sound, and our stay was extremely restful.  The staff were very friendly.  There was coffee in the lobby, and also a service station next door.  No coffee in the rooms, but it was not hard to go next door for a coffee.

I believe this is a family-owned business, and I cannot stress more how excellent these budget accommodations are.  I've stayed in Hotel towers that don't pay this much attention to cleanliness.

Cannot ask for better, wonderful place to stay!

Booked American Inn and Suites because they offered a smoking room at an excellent price. After a week of trekking around Colorado, we did not want to have to stand out in the heat to smoke a cigarette. The Inn is an old property from back in the heyday of the highway motor lodge. Think 1970s road trips... The room was clean and quiet. No breakfast, but the coffee was good. There's a convenience store right across the street, and Pizza Hut in easy walking distance. For $67 a night, definitely a place to rest your head for the night. Only two complaints were the bathroom could be deep cleaned, and swap out the carpet for tile or hardwood; doesn't retain the smoke smell.
