I traveled here with family for an event nearby at black bear and let me say it was HORRIBLE. The bedding was terrible and left me with back pain for DAYS after I stayed there. Water was yellow and bathroom was disgusting and terrible overall, also there was NO internet there the entire time I stayed. 

Terrible Experience

If you didn't already know... This is an overflow/backup hotel that Black Bear Casino now owns to "dump" folks in when their casino attached main hotel fills up.  It's pretty bad in here and is not well taken care of.  Pool is empty and has been closed since covid and probably will never reopen again.  According to staff it has a bad leak and will be very expensive to fix.  Rooms are pretty beat up and the AC/units should not even be touched "gross".  WATER WAS BROWN in the tub as you filled it up.  That's just not acceptable at a hotel these days.  Bath fan was inoperable and with such small rooms... they are a must have.

Won't be staying here again - Not recommended!

You get what you pay for….As others have stated, room was dark and dank/musty. No overhead light and the main lamp had a burnt out bulb! So, one little desk lamp for the whole room. TV did not work!  Decided to take a hot bath and soak ….tub is stained orange and hot water came out orange.  Pool and hot tub area were not in service/unavailable. No cell service so I could t even hot spot my iPad to my phone…had to use UNsecure hotel WiFi. There was a little coffee maker in the room with individual coffee packs…BUT NO COFFEE CUPS!  Doors and walls are paper- thin. I could hear the guy in the room next door belching.  When the concert at Black Bear let out, several drunks came stumbling in and raucous laughing, giggling, crashing into the walls and doors up and down the hall an up and down the stairs…and rattling the vending machines which are in the main hall next to the rooms.  I could hear every word. I’d intended on having a nice hot soak and getting to bed early for a LONG relaxing sleep. Didn’t turn out my one little lamp until after midnight, when things finally quieted down.  Well, this is a small town in the middle of nowhere, so there’s not a lot of competition if you need a place to stay - and apparently not a lot of money to allocate to upgrades.

Funny smell water was brown no pool hot tub breakfast house keeping sucks no cell reception unsecured Wi-Fi and tv might work Don’t expect anybody to take out your garbage either and if you ask they’ll tell you they’ll clean the room when you check out

Don’t stay here

The first night we were there I had to take the bedspread off the bed and put it in the bathroom as it reeled that bad. Most of the clientele are out if town construction workers and the bedspread smelled like someone who hadn't bathed had slept on top of the covers. The next day I brought it up to housekeeping and they p UT a clean bedspread on the bed. Also, the room had a harsh smell to it when we checked in we told the front desk. It was so strong we didn't want them to think we had smoked in the room. All front desk staff where nice and helpful.

Staff was very accomodating

When I arrived at the hotel the lady at the counter was very nice. Then I leave the front entrance and it's like I went back in time. I got into my room and it was like a room that you would get at a hotel on the side of the freeway. The bed was uncomfortable. There was only local channels for what I paid I figured I would get the same as other hotels that you would pay this much for. I almost slipped in the shower twice. The breakfast was just ok. 

Too much money for what you get

We travel with a service animal & we were all comfortable.  It's across from a gas station with lots of conveniences.  It's just down the street from the casino.  We had taxi service & they were propt and clean, also.

Nice stay, while enjoying a concert & gambling at the local casino.

Do not stay here!!  We discovered bed bugs when we flipped one of our pillows over.  So on further searching we found several more full of blood.  This was the most horrible discovery ever, since we had a 3 month old with us.  We took some of them to the front desk and they bagged them.  They said they were sorry and refunded us. What a mess this was for us and the worry of transporting bed bugs with us.

Hotels in this area are expensive and hard to find, especially in the summer. We were here for a wedding, so we tried to find rooms very much in advance. Rooms at First American (which is on the website as AmericiInn) were the most reasonably priced.  We met family here, so were let in by the side door to our dark, dank room. The carpet felt damp. The furniture was banged up and uncomfortable. The sheets were thin and the bedding is scratchy. There weren't enough outlets for three people with devices and cpap's and the WiFi is the worst ever. The bathroom is old tile and cramped and the tub was not very clean looking.
When we went to the lobby to use the pool, it looks much more typically like an AmericInn - moderately attractive and comfortable. The standard pool set up was great for our purposes. Our family took it over after the wedding and had a great time. The staff let us use the breakfast room to play cards and kept the doors to the hallway that led to the rooms closed to protect other guests from our noise, although we tried to keep it down. 
Breakfast the next morning was typical fare - waffles, bagels, toast, cereal and juice. We didn't expect more.

A Dump

This motel just changed from AmericInn to "First American Hotel". It was purchased by local Indian Casino - which is just down the road _ black Bear Casino.
THis place is badly in need of update - look like 1960's - dark rooms, small bathrooms and hard beds. Breakfast is very basic but Kwik Trip across street has lots of yummy breakfast food. No free morning paper. I was cheap  - $119.
