We were very excited about a two night stay at Emerald Valley Ranch. It was too bad that we hit cold, rainy weather, but we still expected to have an excellent time. It was very disappointing.
The staff, while friendly, made no effort to program or suggest activities for our one day there while it was raining. We did get a fly fishing lesson, but the instructor left after 15 minutes.  
We thought given the weather that the promised, gourmet food would be a highlight, but it was mediocre at best. The tomato basil soup was excellent, and one of us had good fish one night. It was very difficult for us to understand, with only 16 to 22 guests while we were there, why breakfast was a buffet and not made to order. The food sat too long- English muffins were hard as rocks, biscuits were cold, ham was dried out and curled, poached eggs were cool, etc. . It would be so easy to cook fresh  for this small number of people.  
Overall the dinner food was extremely salty and just very disappointing. Not near the standard of a typical mid priced restaurant, let alone a small high end resort .
The bartender, while very kind, didn’t know how to make a martini. 
It seem like the staff, who were young, were very nice and enthusiastic but not well trained. (one absolute exception to this was the shuttle driver, Todd, who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He is a gem.). 
This is a very expensive place to stay. We wanted to love it, and we wanted to be excited to recommend it. I think the setting is gorgeous, and the cabins are very nice. But the food and service really need attention. And with changeable weather high in the mountains, it seems reasonable that there would be some Plan B ideas, when almost all of the scheduled activity depends on good weather.



Disappointing 

Emerald Valley Ranch is my third crown. I stayed at Cloud Camp Memorial weekend. Broadmoor hotel 4th of July weekend and Emerald Valley Ranch Labor day weekend this year. I loved them all. Thank you Rita Bennett and Steve Nordstrom from Federal Heights Colorado Denver Natives

Staycation Emerald Valley Ranch

Loved every minute! The horseback riding, fly fishing, guided hike and history of Nanny’s cabin was so interesting.  The cabins were so clean and inviting, the food was beyond scrumptious. Staff- 💯 %

Amazing Celebration for our 25th Anniversary! 

I went to the Ranch at Emerald Valley on a family trip and had an amazing experience (even with some very uncooperative, rainy weather). The food was spectacular - every meal came with a variety of options, and the food was high quality. My brother-in-law who doesn't eat much may have put on 5 pounds from all the food he ate during the week. The staff is very attentive and brought my wife vanilla lattes every morning for breakfast. They really are a fun, easy-going bunch. There is a set schedule every day with all of the activities, but if you want to go do something the staff will make accommodations to ensure that you maximize your experience. The ranch is a beautiful property, and I would love to come back with my kids one day.

Wonderful Family Trip to EVR

No one has mentioned the Western Art collection at the Ranch, so I will. There’s a fine big Oscar Berninghaus landscape (poorly hung) in The Lodge, for example, and our cabin, Ponderosa (big fireplace, large porch, small anteroom with window seat, very comfortable) included two oils—a fine Peter Moran genre piece and another by Birger Sandzén, the so-called American Van Gogh.

Well, that’s quality, and just typical of the Ranch experience. Super, smiling collegial staff always available for any requests. (One gal remarked, “We love everything about being here—and we get Paid!”)

Lots of activities, as noted, for fishers archers hikers riders boaters and do-nothingers. The setting—ideal as an emerald mountain glen.

Our dining experience had a quirk or two, but the kitchen is unsurpassed for soups bisques chowders chili. Classic fried chicken at lunch, a perfect creole-style lobster, a very very special cheesecake for a special occasion were among the highlights.

And highest praise for genial ranch manager Aaron Kuper who was everywhere: greeting, chatting, toting linen, helping at breakfast, advising activities, and being everything to everyone. Plus, as mentioned, his personable staff, to name a few: Amber Cole Corey Lexie Jade Nick Silas and a dozen others. 

The best there is. Period.

This Is The Place

This place is really special.  We recently vacationed at the Broadmoor, and we visited the ranch for our last two nights.  Had we known what an amazing place this is, we would have spent our entire vacation here!  The property is gorgeous, the food is great, the activities are hassle-free and fun, and Aaron and his staff are fantastic.  We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin, which was perfect for our family and gave us plenty of space.  The kids had fun trout fishing, playing yard games (archery, etc.), and using the paddle boats.  We did one guided hike, and it was beautiful!  We also rode horses, and the guides were super helpful since we were first-time riders. The kids loved the ranch cat, June Bug, who visited our cabin every day.  Thanks for a wonderful visit.  We can't wait to return.  The ranch is really one-of-a-kind.

Extraordinary!

Aaron and his incredible staff will ensure a first class experience. Cabins are lovely, the food incredible, the setting intimate, relaxing and fun.  Adorable and ultra friendly ranch cat June Bug. Will forever be a special memory EVR 😊 thank you 🙏🏼

Beyond Expectations!

We live about a mile from the Broadmoor and have stayed at both Emerald Valley Ranch and the fly fishing camp. I wish I could give each of them more than 5 stars. Our “cabin” had a living room and a bedroom. Both were the definition of luxury. We fished in the lakes and caught over 20 fish. The staff, food, and service were way over 5 stars. Craig is amazing!

Emerald Valley

What a wonderful stay we had at EVR. Our luxurious cabin was located right by a waterfall which was wonderful to hear during the day on the porch and at night through the windows. A cozy fireplace and large bathroom added to the charm. Everyone at the ranch was awesome and helpful. We loved our horseback riding, fly fishing, canoeing, and hiking. The food was yummy (especially the cookout) and the cowboy coffee hit the spot. Also loved seeing the wildlife (and Junebug the cat). 

One suggestion would be to reserve a standalone cabin so you don’t hear your neighbors. Also, although the ranch staff was fabulous, the Broadmoor staff at the main hotel was underwhelming. When we tried to check in for our ranch stay, they acted like they had no idea who we were or what the ranch was. That was too bad and and service there could be improved. Luckily, once we got to the ranch everything was perfect. Thank you Craig and team!

Pure relaxation

No words or pictures can do justice to the wonderful and magical experience we had at the Emerald Valley Ranch. The cabins are beautiful and cozy with all the amenities needed and best of all a fire place.  The surroundings, high in the mountains above Colorado Springs, are beautiful beyond description, making the entire experience so peaceful and relaxing. There are activities to choose, horseback riding, fly fishing, archery, tether ball, hiking, walking, etc. If you want to do nothing but sit and enjoy the surroundings, we’ll, feel free. The food was also 5 star with many choices at each meal. Sitting around the fire pit early in the morning drinking “cowboy coffee “ or at night chatting with the other guests and making SMORES, what could be better.
None of this would happen without Craig Hilton, the host with the most, and the incredible staff who made each of us feel as if we were treasured guests in their home.  We so appreciated their hard work and forever smiles.
