Stayed one night in this comfortable,  traditional  bandb in New Hartford  whilst touring New England. The property is  elegant,  clean, comfortable and  very well furnished. The proprietor,  Mary Ann, was very pleasant and helpful and served a very nice breakfast. It should be noted that this is a traditional bandb and, as such, there was no tv or tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. There was a small tv in the lounge but this is a place more suited to reading/relaxation than 'life in the fast lane. There are several restaurants a short (5 to 10 minutes).  drive away.  Overall good for a short stay and good if you like quiet isolation, reading etc.

Overnight stay in New Harford

Mary Ann is a wonderful host. She welcomed us warmly and quickly drew out our interests and reasons for visiting. Remarkably, she was able to help me make contacts locally that I had struggled to set up before arriving. 

The house itself is beautiful (an understatement), and its history is quite interesting. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. What more can I say? We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Warmly Welcomed

Chapin is a lovely little B&B in a fairly rural location.  Whilst the house itself is in immaculate condition, the outside could do with some love and attention.  All the rooms are furnished in period with the house, lovely quilts on the beds etc.  Just be warned depending on the time of year you go the house itself is cold, we sat outside on the porch to warm up as our room was so cold, although we were offered a storage heater when we came back in later which helped.  Very nice cooked (if a little small) cooked breakfast and the host is very welcoming and will sit and chat with you.

Charming accomodation

We stayed two nights for a fly fishing trip in the area. Mary Ann was gracious and conscientious in all aspects of our stay. We stayed in the Green Room on the first floor which was well appointed and had an adjoining bathroom. The highlight was the absolutely delicious breakfast each morning and wonderful warm chocolate chip cookies before bedtime!!!

Very Nice Rooms -- Exceptional Service

We visited New Hartford as we were visiting friends in the area and only needed one night.  It can be expensive to stay in this area and price for Chapin Park wasn't much more than a hotel.  It is a gorgeous Victorian home.  Our room with private bath was quite comfortable.  We were thankful to have a window air conditioner as it was a hot day.  We did wish we remembered our earplugs as the noise of it bothered us....but we would rather have had the air than not.  Marianne our guest was very welcoming.  She allowed us an hour early check in, then was gracious when we were an hour late.  We didn't have time to use the beautiful rooms in the public rooms but they are lovely.  there were three parking spaces off street for us to use and well lit at night.  Water bottles and seltzer was always available.  This is a traditional bed and breakfast where you may have breakfast with others who have spent the night and we shared breakfast with one other visitor.  We enjoyed our time speaking with him and Marianne the owner.  She made us a delicious breakfast with sausage, scrambled eggs with spinach and 3 cheeses, toast, blueberry muffin, fruit salad with yogurt, orange juice and coffee!  My husband is gluten free and she accommodated this.

I would definitely stay here again

Lovely place to base yourself for a few days retreat in the country, for hiking,  biking,  fishing,  skiing,  or motorcycle riding.  Beautiful old style mansion with fabulous host.  Great breakfeast.  Highly recommended.  Much better value than most of the area hotels and motels. 

Gem of a placr

We really enjoyed our second stay at Chapin Park B&B ... this visit to attend two grandchildren's graduations. MaryAnn was cordial and helpful during both our visits and provides unbelievable, fabulous breakfasts.  We also enjoyed dining with other guests.   Besides visiting family there are so many things to do in this area. We cannot recommend this B&B high enough.

GREAT B&B in New Hartford CT area

We were in town for my niece's wedding being held about a mile away at her home.  My brother & sister-in-law booked rooms for us & them for the night, right after the wedding, so we could linger, spend extra time w/family & not be rush as the evening wore on.  What a wonderful experience @ Chapin Park!  Mary Ann, the innkeeper, was just delightful - warm & friendly.  We checked in, were greeted by Mary Ann,  unloaded our suitcases & then headed back to the 'after party'.  Our room was spacious & comfortable.  Breakfast was delish!. . . fresh fruit, quiche, sausage & a great multi-grain toast . . . . and lots of coffee!  Make your reservation - you won't be disappointed!

So charming!

We had a great time at the bed and breakfast. Hostess was very helpful and gave great suggestions for great food in the area. She was up early and had a very nice breakfast ready each morning. My boyfriend and I took my nieces sking which is literally 4 minutes down the street. The only thing we didn't like is that you could not lock your doors or that the place reminded us of watching the movie "Get Out" (Gorgeous though with a lot of the original decor. Old mansion with about 15 rooms but I think guest portion is only about 5. That area is all you see along with the dining area and living room/parlor.) So far she has not had any incidents in terms of locks but it's important to us to have locks and security especially when others are staying there as well. All in all it was a great experience. We think it's worth at least experiencing one time but prefer our hotel stays we are accustomed to. 

Very lovely house

We stayed here prior to skiing at Ski Sundown. The owner was knowledgeable about the mountain and ski racing which helped us plan our morning. Our room was spacious with a large comfortable bed for me and a smaller twin which my daughter liked.  The modern bathroom was not original to the room and was a bit tight, but having a separate sink in the main room helped out.  
The owner was accommodating of us arriving at 10pm and provided us with a delicious full breakfast at 6 am.  This was especially helpful as we had to leave early. 
I wished I had had the time to relax in this beautiful B & B. I would definitely return. The owner exuded warmth and so this is not a place for travelers who prefer a sterile hotel with no personality and no interaction with the hotel staff.
