We coined this place "Schitts Creek" for A LOT of reasons. We rented the cottages for our Cooperstown baseball tournament, total of 4 families (mind you the boys stay on site at Cooperstown). From the pictures and the VRBO reviews, we thought it would be perfect. It's very hard to tell from the pictures how the two buildings are set-up. Terrace 1 (one story building) had a living area, kitchen and three bedrooms all enclosed in the building. Building two (two story building) the main level was the living area and kitchen, then 5 motel rooms upstairs.
The rooms we clean, however (especially in building 2) they are in need of major updating... simple paint, update the electrical so there are plugs next to the beds, etc. There are no shower heads on the showers so it just was a solid stream of water blasting at you. Just like some of the other reviews on this site, the bugs were AWLFUL. Completely understand we were in the woods and on a lake, however trying to get into the upstairs rooms at night and not have 1,000 bugs in your room was like an Olympic competition. Every night you would spend 10 mins trying to kill all the bugs that got let in so you didn't sleep with something buzzing in your ear. 
Another issue we had was the dryer didn't work in building two, so we had to constantly move laundry from building to building. 
The walk up the stairs to the motel rooms in building two was disgusting, with bugs everywhere and what looked like black mold on the walls. A little power washing and paint and again it would go a long way.
ANTS... everywhere, however when we called Vanessa and let her know about the infestation, she did send someone over. 
The pool is not heated, it was pretty cold and never sawm in from our crew. 
The dock was nice to sit on on in the morning and fish.
Overall very over priced for the quality. 

Schitts Creek

We found this because most of other places were booked.  It is very convenient to Cooperstown -  just two miles up the road.  Although road runs right in front of Inn the room was very quiet.  The serenity there is wonderful.  The rooms are older and bathroom small but it is very clean.  Bed was comfortable and nice to have a table in room.  The T.V. was pretty small but we didn't spend that much time in room.. There is NO hair dryer which I found out on the am we left.  The breakfast consisted of very strong coffee,  plain donuts, bagel, toast and orange juice.  Everyone in Inn shared the refrigerator in this small room where breakfast is set out which is exposed to the outside.  That is probably the only downfall regarding this Inn.  Just a larger variety of donuts would be great and maybe some fruit. The dock across road is awesome.  You can sit by the lake and enjoy the peace and quiet.  It was too cold to use pool but I imagine this would be a wonderful place to stay in the summer. Beware because there is no elevator so if you have trouble hauling your luggage request room on lower level.  The staff was wonderful and very nice.  Would recommend this Inn if you want a no frills, but quiet, clean place to stay with a beautiful view of the lake.

Veronica and Justin are great hosts,The staff is helpful and friendly.The location lake side is beautiful.The rooms are comfy,slept very well in the bed.Very peaceful inn.I will go back in warmer weather to use the pool and lake side perks.

The only thing throughly enjoyable was the lake view. The trolley parking lot was a quick drive from the motel, which was convenient during the day. The tiny television did have a nice selection of channels but who goes on a getaway to watch tv? The owner was pleasant, uber friendly with ideas for eateries in the area. 

We paid aprox. $140/night and it seemed a bit steep for the lack of the basics. 

The room smelled super funky, there weren’t enough pillows, the linen was suspect with stains, the bathroom was less than basic with no shelf to store toiletries, with fleeting water pressure, and breakfast was meager. Stale bagels and corn muffin-like wedges awaited us each morning. The coffee was okay I supposed. There was no seating for breakfast. The sad, unkempt pool was atop a hill with no walkway for access. After spotting a snake skin (small) nearby our room, I was nervous to walk up to the pool via the grassy area. The lounge chairs were outside the pool fence so, you can imagine the size of the pool deck. 



Budget w/ a View 

We stayed for two nights. The hotel is less than 4 miles from the Baseball Hall of Fame. It is a old school motel with wonderful views of the lake. The bed was very comfortable and the owners were right on site and very kind and helpful. If you use the pool be sure to use the steps on the far side. Although we did not use them they have free kayaks and canoes for use for guests. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and would go back. They are much better priced then many of the lake front hotels or the hotels in downtown Cooperstown. We went the week before Labor day and the area was crowded with tourists and little leaguers. We were close to town but far enough away to relax.

Great location at a great price.

We brought the kid back to college and decided to stay in Cooperstown for a day or two. The Terrace Motor Inn was almost perfect for our needs...it's hilly and tough to get around if you have a bum leg. Service was good, the views were great, Lake Otsego was beautiful and Cooperstown is fun to visit.  Lots of antiquing around here too.
