Fun and eclectic hotel, not typical but super cool. No lobby or restaurant but rooms have been redone and the room John Wayne stayed in was great. Plenty of food to be found just down the street. Try it 

Love cottonwood hotel

This is a small boutique hotel right in the heart of Old Town Cottonwood.  You can't ask for a better location.  Right in the middle of the action.  The room was small but comfortable.  Be warned, the bathroom is tiny.  Tall or larger people may have trouble here.  Was a fun weekend tasting wine up and down the street.  It also close to wineries and Sedona.

Location was stellar as hotel is right downtown, thus why we chose it HOWEVER,  there was NO internet as advertised, the air conditioning unit was in the middle of suite and locked at a certain temperature and could not be turned down and did NOT cool the bedroom so sleeping was tough as it was HOT.  Additionally place was not clean, kitchen was not equipped and bathroom was teeny tiny.  We thought the "John Wayne" theme would be fun but there was little about that even.  I would NOT recommend this hotel, choose another and if all full, go another time wish I did.

Great Location - Terrible Hotel

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.  I've read a review from a person that didn't even stay here.  I'm very confused by the review.  I had no issue at all booking a room on their website.  Since she didn't book a room she doesn't realize that you are provided with an email before you arrive that lets you know they do not give out keys to rooms and, instead, they provide you with a text letting you know your room is ready and what your key code to the room is.  Now, they also let you know that if you prefer a personal check in you can make arrangements for that.  This was something we really appreciated.  The host was outside with her dog and talked to us as well as sent several text messages to ask how we were enjoying our stay and if we needed anything.  That, to me, is not like an Air B&B and is also more than you get at most hotels anymore.  We stayed in the 1925 room which gave use two separate queen beds.  Very comfy beds.  Each room had a ceiling fan and we were provided with a mini fridge as well.  Convenient location for walking around Cottonwood and they have a great balcony to sit and enjoy the view.  The host also gave us suggestions for dinner and things to do during our stay.  We enjoyed our stay here very much and will for sure be back.

Comfortable, friendly and very convenient

I have heard of a Ghost hotel but never a Ghost staff. The intent of this review is to share this hotel doesn't operate like a typical hotel because there's no front desk and the only way to book is through their website. Previous reviews share encounters with the hotel's owner, but now there is no one to interact with  as it no longer has a front office or lobby. It's shuttered. No one answers their phones and you can only book online, so it operates more like an Air B&B without a host that can answer pre-check in questions.  

I get it, things change in life, but I hope the owner reads my review and makes updates to their website that explains these changes to manage people's expectations. And I don't want others to go through what I did. Rooms vanished over night when I was ready to book the morning I left for Cottonwood. I waited hours to get a response to see if their system just doesn't allow for day of bookings or if they simply sold out. I never received a response and eventually had to make a plan B and booked at a close by motel.  

 When we arrived in Cottonwood , and strolled by the hotel we noticed the front  lobby windows closed and there was a note  on their front door stating they only  accept bookings online. We enjoyed a great lunch across the street at Merkin Tasting Room where you can look at   people passing by the hotel.  We noticed other tourists also trying to enter the front door of the hotel, asking if rooms were available I presume, and were met with the same experience.   I am hoping things are okay with the owners and  that they can  improve their communication better on their website - and  avoid this happening with future guests

Operates more like and Air B&B than a hotel

We really enjoyed our stay.  Walking distance to everything.    Enjoyed the balcony at night.  The owner Karen was so sweet and made us feel so welcome.  Her Great Dane is a gentle giant.  We will definitely return ❤

Great Time!

My Husband and I stayed in the John Wayne Suite upstairs and close to the balcony that overlooks main street.  The suite was clean and quaint.  The room had a comfortable bed and sitting area with old western movies, scrabble game and a deck of cards.  Lots of nice homey touches.   The location is perfect for visiting all of the wine tasting rooms, olive oil tastings and of course great restaurants.  The jail trail is not too far for a quick easy hike to the Verde River.  Karen does a fabulous job of providing detailed instructions and easy check-in, parking, and maintaining the historic hotel.

Charming and Comfortable

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in the John Wayne suite.  It was cute and well-appointed with a bedroom, kitchenette, and sitting room.  Towels and basic toiletries ( soap, shampoo, conditioner) provided in the shower.  We were just around the corner from a lovely second-story balcony, which gave us a fun place to hang out and watch the people in the evenings.  The proprietor also left us coupons for a free wine-tasting and discount coupons for some local restaurants.  
Great location in the heart of downtown Cottonwood! Would definitely recommend!

Quaint boutique hotel!

This is a great place to stay.  The room we had was fantastic.  We had a ground floor room.  It was neat and clean with a bit of an odd layout.  This is an old hotel and I do not think the room we had was originally built as a room.  We had lots of space with a kitchenette.  The location is fantastic, right in the middle of Main street in old town.  I wish we had had more time this trip.  We will be back.

Great Hotel with Eclectic Charm

My husband & I spent a night at the Cottonwood Hotel which is located in the center of town in Historic Cottonwood. We had the Sky Watch Queen Deluxe Room and were very pleased. Room was much more like a suite. We had a livingroom area with TV, bathroom, kitchenette with dining table and bedroom. Karen Leff the innkeeper was very responsive & gave very detailed instructions on check-in, parking, etc. prior to check in. She also emailed me that the town of Cottonwood would be having an event when we were their and asked if I would like to book another night at a discounted rate. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is a little small, but plenty of towels provided and shower water was hot. Karen also provided a discount card for the Red Rooster Café & complimentary wine tasting tickets. Our room was on the second floor and there is no elevator which was not a problem for us. Very large balcony across the front of the building which overlooks the street and had tables & chairs. Historic Cottonwood is a charming little town. Wish we had more time to stay there. Hopefully we will have a chance to return & stay in this wonderful Hotel.
