Had a reservation for late September 2022.  Went on website to check some and saw a notice in red PERMANENTLY CLOSED.  Attempted to call and email with not success.   They never sent my deposit back or notified me of their closure.  I spent two month trying to get my deposit refunded from my credit car company.   Finally got it back.  It was a lovely place and I was disappointed in they was they handled their closing.

We booked a trip to stay here for the Labor Day weekend back in March. I tried to call them last week to confirm my reservation and arrival time. The phone just beeps and no one answers the emails. I did some searching and found reviews from people who had gone there expecting them to be open and found the place deserted. I went so far as to look up the business next door to be sure and he said that they've been closed for months and that the property hasn't been touched. Yet...the website is still up and you can still make a reservation. WHAT THE ?????? really..... I got lucky and my charge card credited my $195 deposit and we were able to find another place to stay.

DO NOT BOOK - THEY ARE CLOSED

If I could give more of a terrible rating I would. We booked this place June of 2021 for a wedding 2 weeks ago. I called a few days before leaving to confirm and found out they were CLOSED! They took our money a year ago and never told us they were closing! Needless to say we had to scramble to find another hotel and now I am fighting with my credit card company trying to get my money back!
What a nighmare!

STAY AWAY

Well hopefully my review doesn’t get removed because I believe on Google they cater to the business and remove the truth.

Maybe they pay to have it removed. OK I’ll be real short and sweet with this one why should I waste my time going on too much if they decide to erase it too. 

Spent roughly $850 for four nights. What a nightmare Wickshire cottage #1. It is actually half of a duplex. Some cottages are single. The mattresses are a nightmare when you sit and lie down it compresses within 2 inches from the boxspring, they are past their time as well as a television set.  A woman in the cottage  next door commented she hasn’t seen a TV like that in 20 years since Disneyland. 

With the exception of a small tile area near the door where you enter and the bathroom having vinyl the rest of the area is carpeting yeah it has not been cleaned it seemed for quite some time several stains throughout not even vacuumed which I don’t believe it was prior to arrival either let along during our stay that goes for the toilet as well not being cleaned. 

Throughout our stay at least two other couples we saw and heard leave because how the place is kept, it must’ve been something in  it’s prime but it’s past its prime if they would just clean the place up update the mattresses as well as some of the other appliances it would probably be a real top-notch place, right now to me personally it’s no different than some overpriced roadside motel.

This place is deceptive with their amenities at least two weeks prior to arrival the pool, the restaurant, and bar have been closed yet they do not tell you that on the website or when you call there. Looking around and reading reviews there seems to be a lot of turmoil there, fighting apparent with previous staff, family and other drama unfortunately it spilled out into customer satisfaction.

Breakfast is not self-serve you’ll get one of the three cooks as we had in four days there who will come out ask you what do you want but you’ll find out real fast you only have a choice of bacon, eggs or pancakes that’s if they can find batter. The third cook we had on our last morning there could not find a better way or the other two left it really?

The front desk check in woman was so super friendly it was a delight talking to her. Too bad everything there was not as good as her warm welcoming of us was. 

Oh and maybe when the cooks come out they can at least have some type of appropriate clothing on not a shirt that says f$$$ cancer. I’m all for freedom of speech to me I don’t care what somebody says it is freedom of speech as I said but in that environment use your head.

Do not believe what you see on the website very deceiving.

We recently stayed at the Crescent Lodge and Country Inn in Cresco, PA.  We had just wanted a few days away at a fair price with breakfast included as well as an outdoor pool.  We had been advised by the registration person who took our call, that the Country Chalet room was a favorable room for the price that we were willing to spend.  It seemed that this Inn had fit the bill, and after reading the many favorable reviews, we made our reservations.  On arrival, Covid precautions were pretty much absent, as the state has relaxed those precautions.  We were told by the registration person, (J) that we would not be able to use the pool as the pool person was out due to an emergency.  My spouse stated that this is one of the reasons we chose this Inn and asked when it would be fixed, with (J) stating that the manager was trying to find someone to fix the pool.  The reception area is of the 40’s era and while clean, is shrine-like in appearance.  Not my style and in my mind could use a serious refresh or be totally redecorated.  The site info stated that there was a “gift shop,” but we did not see this area.  We did find the grounds to be well maintained and inviting.  There was a written statement that these was a bar/lounge and restaurant that was open on Wednesdays through Sundays.  This was not the case, as there was a sign stating that the restaurant was closed.   

We were able to get into our Country Chalet room (day 1 will say) which was right in back of a store that was closed, just off the road.  Our room was clean with a 40’s look with a canopy bed that was placed on a diagonal in the room, which made it slightly difficult to watch the small TV across the room.  The room was also a bit dark, especially the bathroom shower area.  The AC located high on the wall cycled on and off the entire night (day 1), despite trying to get the temperature at a reasonable 68 degrees.  There was a remote also that we attempted to use without success.  To be honest, the room was humid the entire time, however we did not make the front desk aware to attempt to correct these issues.  Night (2) we left the fan running continually with temp down and still not comfortable.  The bed had a mattress protector that moved around on the mattress so that it was uncomfortable and bunched up when attempting to rest, or to sleep.  There are no windows in the room to open to be able to get fresh air, only a slider, that we would not leave open at night.  The slider led to a small patio with 2 well worn loungers and 2 chairs.  Back inside the room, there are not enough outlets near the bed, for adequate charging of the phone/computer, and plug ins for lights, which should be the norm these days.  The refrigerator was located in the bathroom under the counter.  The freezer section in this mini fridge was iced to allow only 2 bottles of water to be placed in it to attempt to freeze them for ice packs.  Clearly it was not thawed and cleaned for many days prior to our arrival.  Guests were given ice buckets and informed of where to get ice, if they choose.  You will see in the description of the room that there is to be a rainfall shower head.  Sadly, there was only a regular inexpensive shower head.  In fact, be prepared if you are tall, to stoop in order to adequately wash and rinse your hair.  We later went on (day1) to check the pool and found that a lot of debris and pale green water with no one present.           

 
When we went into the dining room (day 2) morning after our arrival, there was no one at the reception desk or in the dining room to greet us to explain the dining for the continental breakfast.  I looked around at the several tables and almost sat at them, but noted crumbs not cleaned from prior diners, and chose a different table to seat myself.  When my spouse went to find someone to inquire about food options, he returned with a man when asked if he was the owner, stated he was the son of the owner.  This man came into the dining room followed by a rather heavy man and told us about the breakfast process.  There were items out such as the bread, bagels, English muffins that were individually wrapped.  The manager stated that the cook “we call him Slim.”  I guess he found that funny, but I found it to be degrading to his staff.  We ordered what was offered, I got 2 fried eggs, 2 strips of bacon and nothing else.  No home fries or any fresh fruit.  My spouse got the French toast which was not cooked in the center.  The written statement on the site stated that there would be a “hot continental deluxe breakfast” which included fresh fruit and yogurt that was not present.  We picked at our meals and chose to leave to leave, returned to our room and stopped prior to our destination, to get something more substantial to eat.  No one checked back with us on our meal.  We asked the man who identified as the owner’s son, when the pool would be fixed.  He stated that he had changed the chlorinator and now needed to put more water in the pool, but that it looked much better today and should be ready soon.  On our return from that day’s destination, we went to the pool and found debris and a hose filling the pool with water but not able inviting to swim.  So we just sat by the pool for a bit, disappointed that we were unable to use the pool.   

After another sleep deprived night going into (day 3), due to the temperature in the room, we did not return for breakfast due to our prior days’ experiences.  We went out to breakfast and returned in hopes of using the pool since we had seen prior to leaving for breakfast that the water hose was not being used and the pool appeared full, but with debris (leaves, bugs, bees) still present but hoping that since it was earlier in the morning that by time we would return in the late morning, that the debris would be cleared and we would be able to swim.  On return we again walked over to the pool and to our surprise was the same as in the morning.  There were people seated around the pool but clearly no one was in the pool.    

We decided at that time that we would leave despite we were scheduled to stay another day.  We packed up, went to the reception desk where again there was no one to speak with and then ( J ) came in the door after we had been shouting for a manager.  We asked to check out and (J) got our paperwork and gave us the receipt, as he was speaking on the phone.  My spouse asked (J) if he noticed anything about the information on the receipt.  (J) looked and stated he did and my spouse stated we are leaving a day early and asked if he was curious as to why we would be leaving.  We stated the pool is unusable and the food was uncooked the day we ate breakfast in the dining room.  We asked if the manger was present and he was not.  We requested that we be contacted and be reimbursed.  We have not received a call from the manger as of the day after our return.

To be clear, the cost is non refundable but would expect that the manager would make a good faith effort to maintain a good business relationship with us.  

We found some very telling information that we would not have know about unless we would have searched the internet FB page, about the prior respected managers being replaced by this current son of the owner, with some very unfavorable things to report about the owner’s son prior attempt at managing this Inn and how he drove it into the ground.  For those of you with Facebook take a look at the July 11, 2021 respectable announcement by the former managers and see the responses of prior patrons of this respected establishment under their management.  Also take a look at the 7/18/2021 comment on YELP for the food review.  

Now it all makes sense about the lie of the pool person had an emergency, the restaurant, breakfast etc….

Getaway that turned get us out of here!!

Beautiful property with a pristine pool, shuffleboard, walking trails and expansive lawns and tree areas.  Every cottage had a parking place right near its own front door.   

Our cottage was decorated nicely with a great bed and bedding.  There were two sink-plus-mirror areas; very helpful.  We had a little private deck with chaise chairs and nice, thick terrycloth lawn chair covers provided, which meant we weren't sitting in dirt or bird poop.  Very nice.  Our cottage had a lovely little fireplace, although in 85-degree heat, we didn't use it.  The A/C in the room almost kept up with the heat.

On the downside, furnishings--especially upholstered couch and chairs--looked worn and tired.  Our ice bucket had somebody else's old water in it.  Not a big deal; I washed it before using it.  But clearly, it hadn't been washed by the housekeeping crew, which made us wonder about the hotel's overall standard of cleanliness.  The restaurant isn't open on Mon & Tues which is when we were in town.   We usually sleep in a King-sized bed, but at this property, the King rooms were over $100 more than the Queen rooms.  We decided to try to manage with the Queen.

I am neither a dilettante nor a princess.  I have survived and thrived all my life with less-than-ideal circumstances.  But for these prices, we were somewhat underwhelmed.

We wanted to love it

There  are several cabins on the property.  We stayed in the Wickshire cabin, it was pleasantly decorated and extremely clean. There was a porch area with lounge chairs which must be very nice on breezy, sunny days. The beds were very comfy.  The staff in the hotel and restaurant were informative and really pleasant.  The pool is beautiful and so are the grounds.   We had dinner at the restaurant, they have a nice menu and the food and drinks were delicious!  Breakfast was included and was very generous, more then expected, a pleasant surprise!  It is also a 5 minute drive to the Casino, for a fun night out.  Definitely want to return!

Extremely clean, great staff, beautiful pool!

Another great visit to our new favorite inn.  Now our go to place to stay when we spend time in the Poconos.  The staff is pleasant and helpful.  The cabins we've stayed in have been lovely.  The overall atmosphere is serene, winter or summer.   At the end of a long fun filled day, it's nice to come back to our home away from home.  I also recommend dining in their restaurant.  We celebrated Valentine's day there.  The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfectly romantic and included a piano player.  We look forward to returning very soon.

Valentine's Weekend Getaway

The Crescent Lodge provides a warm cozy atmosphere in a quiet beautiful setting.  The owners pay attention to all the details and go out of their way to make sure each visit is memorable. I highly recommend staying here or choosing the location for a fantastic dinner.

Excellent Choice for the Poconos

First time visiting the area I was looking for a Resort or B&B in the Poconos.  Chose Crescent Lodge as they have a bar and restaurant on site and seemed close to everything we wanted to do.  Good location choice but over-priced for off-season.  No idea what the $30/day resort fee is for as everything I usually associate with resort fees is closed for the season.  Rooms in the main building are fine but if you are in a room facing the main road, it can be loud.  Customer service was outstanding, front desk, bar, restaurant.  Might be worth the price in season but I would not stay here again at current pricing.
