Wonderfully restored home and very atmospheric. If you can't relax here, seek help. Zach is a great host, friendly and an interesting guy. Makes a great breakfast. Darien is a fun place to explore, interesting shops and restaurants. Also an old British fort right nearby. Local history is interesting. 

Relax in an old South atmosphere. 

Absolutely beautiful B&B!! Zack, the owner and chef, was wonderful. Excellent breakfast, super comfortable bed, beautiful room and a feeling of being a guest in a friend’s house! Will be returning often! 

Wonderful experience!

What a wonderful experience.  We have stayed in several bed and breakfast in the area and this by far was our best experience.  Keith and Carrie could not have been more welcoming.  This really helped us settle in even for the one night. The breakfast Keith served up was sublime.  We would definitely stay again.  Thanks so much for your hospitality.

A historic hotel worth staying with

I was just in town for the night and decided to stay at Open Gates based on a recommendation from a friend. I stayed in the Island Room which is on the ground floor. It's very spacious with a comfy 4-poster king bed as well a twin, in addition to an en suite bath. They were happy to accommodate an early check-in via a very simple keyless process which I appreciated. I also appreciated the breakfast—fresh fruit, homemade stuffed crepes and bacon. Yum! Overall an excellent experience. 

Adorable B&B in the heart of Dairen

Everything about Open Gates was delightful from the delicious food, comfy accommodations, and desirable location to all the great little places in Darien! We will definitely visit this little gem again! 

Perfect little gem in historic Darien

Though we only stayed one night, it was wonderful.  Our room was great in every way.  Bed was comfortable, pillows were plush and all you would expect from a good B&B.  Zach and his wife were great hosts.  Helped in any way the could.  He gave us a nice tour of the home.  (I'm kind of an old house architectural nut.)  The breakfast was super also.  Zach is also a chef and made breakfast a real treat.  We will definitely stay on our next trip through.  By the way Zach, if you read this we are mailing your information booklet back that my wife accidently picked up with her other papers when we left.  

Wife's birthday weekend to Orlando, FL.

My father stayed here for Christmas and was blown away by the charm and friendliness of the staff!  Perfectly located, he was able to take in all that Darien has to offer right outside the door. Will definitely have him stay here again!  Highly recommend.

Wonderful place

Wonderful place to stay; comfortable, expansive, very accommodating, and excellent food.   This old house is located in a quiet place, and the grounds are large and wonderful.  At this time of year (holiday) it is decorated in a fun and elegant way.  Lots to do in the vicinity as well.

Lovely stay recently...

Very convenient, on a park. Can walk to sights, restaurants, etc. beautiful setting for weddings, etc. very easy to park.
Zach is the great chef and owner. Helpful pointing out sights. Fabulous chocolate shop across the street. Quiet, comfortable beds. Only suggestion is to be more proactive in using Bug spray, which the inn does supply.

Must stop in Darien

I’ve stayed in some amazing Inns in various states and countries , Open Gates is equally as wonderful as any ! Gorgeous rooms , comfy beds and linens and the breakfast cooked by chef zack was 10 stars. This place is a secret haven for me ! I love running in the early morning then a cup of fabulous coffee on the porch before breakfast. Thank you zack and Carrie !
