Next to the motel office is a swimming pool with green algae floating on top of the water.

I had room 203 on the second floor.  The steps leading up to the second floor balcony from the parking lot were old and cracked but probably safe.  The railing that went with these outside steps needed to be wiped down because airbourne highway grit had settled on it. 

I went up to my room and found a motel bed with two wall lamps on either side of it and a grimy arm chair.  The other chair in the room was a nice office chair.  There was a nice new  TV fastened to the wall.  There was no place to hang clothes.  There was a 4" in diameter hole in the middle of the bathroom door and in addition there was no way to lock the bathroom door because the door knob was missing. 

This motel does not provide blankets or even a comforter for the bed.  On top of the bed, there were just two sheets sewed together with some sort of thin filling between them.  To compensate, I brought up three blankets from my car that I had brought with me.  In addition I had a lot of trouble adjusting the Amana heating unit in my room; it would not run for a long time and then take off running for a long time and overheat the room.  I only slept two or three hours at most.
 
The continental breakfast was just cellophane wrapped danish and coffee.  The coffee was good though.  I went down to a local diner for breakfast.

I was in the area to visit the Traveler's Rest State Historical Site.  I only stayed at this motel one night.

So many roaches! Missing light bulbs, shower wouldn’t completely turn off, missing smoke alarm, needs updating and cleaning, box springs cover was badly stained. Remote has food on it. Tv was filthy. Coach looked broken. Furniture was banged up. Ceiling of bathroom had water damage. Tub has some sort of crack. We ended up sleeping in our car because we had seen and killed so many roaches.

Worst hotel.

I reserved this hotel through hotel.com for one night. When I got to the hotel there was a phone laying outside that I was supposed to call the front desk. NOONE ANSWERED! I was unable to check into a room I had already paid for!! I still can’t get anyone on the phone!

DO NOT STAY HERE

First impression was the guy behind the desk. He didn't speak when I told him my name and I realized he was on a personal phone call with earbuds. Pool was a lovely shade of green. Parking lot was dirty and outside wasn't the best looking. Room was a little better. Mattress was good. Walls had sections that weren't painted and heavy smell of deodorizer trying to mask that someone had smoked in there. Toilet paper holder had fallen out of the wall and there were bugs in the floor. We were traveling with friends and their room was the same.
 After checking in, we found several different drunks in and out of their rooms (5 pm). We were going to stay another night, but obviously decided against it. 
  Felt very uncomfortable.

Very shady

This hotel need to be burned down, first of all I called twice to ask for a early check in , the lady said “the front desk lady went to the bank and she should be back in 15 min. call back”. Ok 15 minutes passed by then I called back, the same woman said she is not back yet call back in 30 min. So I drove from Suwannee GA to Taccoa GA, thinking when I get there, there will be a room ready. The same lady that told me that she was at the bank was the same lady I have been talking to all along, and she said check in is at 3pm, I got there at 1:30pm. So to make a long story short this lady was the only one worked at this dump, it was the worst Quality inn I have ever seen roach infested, stink and dirty. I wouldn’t even sleep in there, I went to work Monday night and Tuesday morning I was in a Comfort in 33 minutes away from Taccoa. That hotel should not go down as a choice hotel it is a dump hole.

Bad hotel

First the positive. The bed was comfortable. Nice mattress.

We booked three rooms for two nights.
Lots of negatives.  1) The advertised breakfast buffet was not available. Georgia does NOT have restrictions that would make it impossible. Others facilities in the area ARE having their breakfast buffet - I just checked. 2) no coffee in room. Only one of three rooms had coffee maker, but no coffee at all. 3) One room had only a very small TV that was stuck on a Spanish station (remote did not work). 4) Two rooms had a phone; one did not work. 5) Visible Bugs in two room. 6) Moldy shower curtain in one room. 7) No clock in two rooms. 8) No battery in fire detector in one room. 9) Sticky substance in one drawer - got on my clothes. 10) Shower water lukewarm - cool in evening. 11) Overwhelming fragrance in rooms - had to keep doors open for a while to clear out.

Lots of problems - will not stay there again

This jerk would not put his personal phone down for 30 seconds so I could ask him about ice. I weighted 10 miners and when I spoke to him he started cursing me and threatened to call the police. I had tryed to call him on the phone, both house phone and outside line. The call was obviously personal based on what he was saying.

The housekeeping staff was great.

Breakfast was poor but what would you expect. Gutters looked like they had never been cleaned, they leaked everywhere.

Worst desk staff ever

Did a reservation through the “hotel” website and paid for it at the moment, two weeks before the check in date. Traveled from Ocala Fl with family and friends on Friday oct/18/2019 and got to the hotel at 10:30pm. It was weird to see the hotels lights off, and a paper at the door stating -no vacancies- and my wife looked at me with worried expression and I said “don’t worry babe, our reservation is already paid”. Oh, how naive I was!! A lady opened the door to a dark lobby, with another lady and 2 men inside and someone seated in the darkness only showing the shoes. The first  lady told us there were no vacancies, my wife told her about our reservations paid 2 weeks before and she said it was impossible because their system didn’t asked for payment at reservation time. My wife told her about the debit in our bank account and again she said “no way” and almost saying liar to my wife.So my wife showed her the receipt print out. That’s when the other lady jumped to the counter, checked and told the other in a low voice that my wife was right. To our friends it was the same story. But then she said that the hotel got overbooked and that they gave rooms on a first come first served way. Really? So what’s the use of making a damned reservation? With a careless face she told us to go to a near hotel. So there we were, tired and with our kids asleep in the car at 11:00 pm with no idea where to go. I was too tired to get mad and then saw the attitude of the two men, still didn’t saw the face of the person seated in the darkness so I thought the best was to go away. They recommended another hotel, went there and it looked more shady with clothes and shoes everywhere, what the heck??? Thanks God found a real hotel, small but cozy and nice people attending. We told our horrible experience at the Quality Inn Toccoa and the desk person offered apologies and told us we were not the first people in that situation from that hotel. I suppose it’s customary at the Quality Inn to treat guests like trash. We had been guests before at Quality Inn Orlando and St. Augustine and didn’t had trouble. Tried the situation with the executives at Choice Hotels and today offered a “copy paste” apology and a miserable “fix”. Total disregard for the customer, from the top.

The management of this hotel has done an absolutely tremendous job on the edging around the sidewalks. It was so nice I am convinced that is their sole aim with the management of this property. The landscaping was as green and lush as the pool water. I can understand when your priorities are based around seeing the edge of concrete how you can miss things like clean towels, changing sheets, making sure the coffee maker has a carafe and/or coffee, getting toilets that you don't have to cut out a portion of the door to make fit in the space, emptying trashcans before other guests get the room, having hangars in the rooms, supplying an ironing board, having rooms clean before the 3:00 check-in, and making sure that the previous guests were out of the room before supplying keys to that room to new guests. If you are looking for a place where you can truly walk the grounds and appreciate the time put in for a perfectly spaced gap between the dirt and the sidewalks, this place is for you.

In all seriousness, we heard while we were there that the hotel is very recently under new management. We wish the best for you, you really have your work cut out for you here. We highly recommend working with Choice Hotel management to straighten out your bookings first so you no longer have to go "first-come first-served" for all of your paying guests. It is in a great area with great potential, but things must change for this to be a successful place.

Beautiful Landscaping

Let me write you about our horrible, horrible experience at a Quality Inn. We  booked a stay at Quality Inn in Toccoa Georgia (GAA30). I had stayed in Quality Inn hotels before in St. Augustine and Orlando and the stays were ok, so were the stays at other Quality Inns of our friends so we all booked. Stay dates were October 18 through October 20 because  it was a "middle of the trip" stay to visit places at Georgia. Reservations and payment were done in October 3 2019 and were made at the Quality Inn (Choice Hotels) website directly. Receipts of our bank acc. and Choice Hotels were and are at hand.That Friday Oct. 18 we got to the hotel at 10:30 pm after a 7 hours trip from Fl. When I parked in front of the "hotel" the lobby was dark inside and a handwritten paper indicated that hotel had no vacancies. My wife looked at me with a worried face and I said "no worries, we paid already for our reservations". How wrong was I ! A lady opened the lobby door and we got in. The whole lobby was dark, only 1 roof lamp was on. Two ladies, 1 dude and somebody seated in the dark, roughly saw the legs. I felt a sudden fear in such a shady place, believe me. When we told about our reservations, a lady told us that the hotel was full because it was overbooked. My wife said that the reservations were done and paid since October 3 and she, without looking at the computer said it was not possible. My wife told her the same again and she almost told my wife a liar. Dang!, really?? Then the other lady checked the system, at last, and she told the other in a low voice that my wife was right, DUH!. But anyway she said that the date was overbooked and Quality decided to serve the rooms in a "first come first served fashion", and the hotel was already booked. Really? So if that's the way Quality operates, first come first served, then what is the reason to make a reservation? Why for Christ sakes after Quality decided to literally throw our reservations to the trash they didn't had the decency to call us to tell that the hotel was full? There were many hotels in the road before getting to Toccoa!!! It was almost 11:00 pm, we were tired, my kids were at sleep in the van, and the employees at this pseudo hotel said a repeated and cold "I'm sorry" . The lady did the reimbursement to our card and we asked for the receipt of it, with the suspicion of the authenticity of it, after all, what else could you expect after the number this people of Quality Hotel did to us?  At that moment I was so infuriated inside that decided not to speak about it, maybe I was too tired for that, maybe it was for the shady aspect of the place or fear for the person who was in the shadows of the lobby who never showed his/her face so I asked a recommendation for a near hotel and one of the ladies told us to go to a Regency Hotel at 3 minutes from there. Well, lets go there because at that time it was the only choice for us. Packed the luggage back to the van and went to the place, only to find that the name was regency Motel, shoes and clothes thrown at the entrance of some rooms and, dark too! Figures! It looked like a dark alley waiting for us to be jumped! Great recommendation this employee at Quality Inn of Toccoa Georgia gave us! We did a 180 degree turn and fast went away to find another place. Thanks God we did find one. I was so mad that I told the experience to the nice lady at the desk and she told us that it was an usual practice of this Quality Inn and that even when it was good for her business, she felt bad for us and the other customers she usually receives with similar bad experiences from Quality and apologized for it. So, we were not the firsts, and will not be the lasts. How is it possible that a supposed to be hotel have these practices and treat their customers like that? Shame on you Quality Inn of Toccoa Georgia. Never will even consider stay at any Quality Inn again, our friends felt the same, and will make sure to share this to my family and rest of friends. Choice Hotels, have you changed the policies and practices on your business and your franchisers to us, your ex-customers??  Again, shame on you  Quality Inn. The heck with you!!
