This was such a lovely experience. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate my elderly father. We had booked a suite and it ended up on the third floor. He figured he would just have to remain up there the entire time. The inn does not have an elevator (it was opened in 1796 after all) and he just had 2 heart surgeries. Without our even saying or asking, the staff came to us and said they had a situation that they thought would work better. There was not a suite on the ground floor but they gave us two entire rooms, each with a bath and one even with a living room with a fireplace. There was a April snow storm and the walks were cleared immediately, there was always a toasty fire in the fireplace and the food was marvelous. On our last night we even got to sit directly in front of the fire in the Tavern!

Accommodating and cozy

A beautiful historic inn. The service was fantastic and the room was so cozy. It’s an old building so there are some sounds! But I didn’t hear anyone else talking and the room was very comfortable. And breakfast the next morning was terrific!

Beautiful historic inn

Absolutely loved The Dorset Inn.  It's a beautifully cared for and the staff was so nice.  It's in a great location 10 mins from downtown Manchester and walking distance to the Dorset Playhouse.  They are dog friendly and I appreciated the bed and bowls, and my dog lived the cookies and toys they gave her.   The breakfast is included and its amazing.  Many hot entrees to choose from versus just a continental.  The restaurant and bar is very good also.  A few items to be aware of.  Since this is a historic hotel, there are stairs to some of the rooms.  The internet was excellent but my room was smaller without a work space so if you need some kind of desk area inquire.  Oh and the bathrooms are completely modern and lovely.  I will definitely stay there again.

Quintessential Vermont

We stayed here for a night while driving home from a wedding after seeing their restaurant in the book, " A Century of Restaurants".  The Inn and Restaurant are both amazing and exceeded our expectations. The hotel has been in continuous operation since 1796. It has been expanded and updated over the years. It looked like our guest room was done within the last few years. We were in Room 12 which is a suite with a bedroom, sitting room and a great bathroom with a Jacuzzi and shower. The room is in the top 3 I have stayed in, but this is the friendliest of the three. The stay includes breakfast from a menu and it was the best omelet I have had. Service, food, the room and the town of Dorset are worth the visit.

Beyond exceeding our expectations

We originally booked at the Barrows House but due to a wedding were moved to this other property. It was lovely! We used the pool at Barrows house and had breakfast which was included at Dorset Inn. We stayed in room 14 which was clean and perfect for a family as it had a pull out couch in a separate area. Would stay again. Highly recommend!   Bed was super comfortable!

Great stay!

We had a lovely time at the Dorset Inn. We were greeted as if we were royalty. The room was beyond charming. Who doesn't love a heated bathroom floor? The restaurant was a bonus because we wanted to stay in a place where we could have dinner as well. Vermont Inns are known to have good food, but this one was stellar.

Lovely, lovely, lovely

What an amazing place.  The Inn is stunning and the customer service second to none.  Our suite was spacious and so, so comfortable.  The bed was huge and the linens, sumptuous.  Breakfasts were as fresh as could be utilising local produce.  We cannot recommend this place highly enough.  Oh, and we got to "meet" The Colonel!!

What an experience!

We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Dorset Inn and cannot say enough good things about our experience.  Everyone at the Inn was friendly, professional courteous and knowledgeable.  The front desk staff was very helpful and pointed out the history of the inn, including the beautiful and original wall paper in one of the sitting areas.  Our room was spotless, very comfortable and well appointed.  We dined in the restaurant (food was excellent) and enjoyed cocktails afterwards at one of the tables outside in the front of the inn.  Summer is pristine in Dorset, VT and this gem of a location will see us again in the near future.  We loved our stay and will definitely be back.  I highly recommend the Dorset Inn for anyone looking for a 5 star experience in Vermont.

Amazing Stay and The Best Service

My dad has stayed at the Dorset Inn many times in connection with trips to Lake Placid and can’t stop extolling its virtues. Decided to see it for myself on the way to Acadia National Park. Positively charming and civilized. Wonderful stay and wonderful dinner at hotel restaurant.

Positively civilized!

We recently stayed here for a wedding in town. Our room was lovely. While the Inn has all the charm of an older building (squeaky stairs and all), the bathrooms were all updated.  Big comfortable king size bed. The tavern was nice for a drink after the wedding. Our room had breakfast included and the food was very good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Only wish we had more time to spend exploring Manchester which was a short ten minutes away. Would absolutely stay here again.
