Looking for a soothing, simple but luxurious getaway from NYC, Boston (and surrounds) without flying? This beautiful, small, renovated inn is exactly right! The 7 tasteful guest rooms, 3 living rooms (2 with fireplaces, all with quiet music - and the pampering attention of the innkeepers who have and keep their eyes always on the guests' experience), and incredible food & beverage from coffee to unique cocktails, wines by the glass, included breakfast fit for a king and prepared from the local garden and purveyors, and optional (incredible!) dinner, is exactly what we needed! Can't wait to return.

Soothing local getaway

This is an elegant property with wonderful touches such as specially made toiletries for the inn, high quality beverages out for guests along with handmade sweets. Quiet and scenic location for great sleeping. The breakfast included is superb! I would love to return.....when more snowfall comes. :)

A great find!

The Marble West Inn was a fantastic find. Paul was our contact for the stay and a fabulous host  Accommodation was great and the decor was modern and exhibited impeccable taste and attention to detail. Standing alone, this property is nestled amongst the trees and mountains and in front of it a fabulous, uninterrupted  view of the mountains where once a marble quarry used to be. Having taken a cordon bleu course in Europe, their culinary skills are on a par to any European Michelin stared restaurant I have visited. They take pride in knowing the provenance of where their ingredients originate and utilise what they are able to grow in their own allotment. The taster menu didn’t disappoint, excellent quality food, with a menu that provided a great balance of flavours and textures, paired with an excellent choice of wines from Paul’s carefully selected wine ‘cellar’. An extremely relaxing place with such an ambience that you feel at home as soon as you walk in. Plus the home baked cookies were fab too! A must stay and highly recommended. 

A Little Gem!

Great Stay, Paul and Linda are amazing and gracious hosts.  They are both chefs and love to cook for their guests.  There is a lot of history behind this property and they were the ones that restored it!  If you can make it here it is well worth it.

Service with a smile

Outstanding Inn in Dorset, VT. My wife and I stayed here with another couple while in the area for a wedding. I can't say enough positive things about this Inn. The location is quiet and scenic, while being surprisingly close to shops and a small downtown. The Inn property is gorgeous - beautifully landscaped, with cozy outdoor seating and fire pits and adirondack chairs for enjoying during the evening. The Inn itself is furnished like a furniture catalog - beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. The innkeepers, Julia and Paul, are wonderful. Paul couldn't have been more generous and kind. The food was outstanding and Paul's wine and whiskey lists are enviable. Looking forward to our next stay.

Exceptional

We don't know if you should go for the food and stay for the inn....or go for the inn and stay for the food?  You must do the following: take a moment to rock in the rocking chairs on the front patio, sit at one of the fire pits and enjoy the delectable snacks available for purchase (and delivery to your fire pit!), stay for the breakfast that is included with your room.  And, for a real treat, book dinner reservations.  Dress is casual but the food is not.  The food is a finely curated selection of multiple courses - prix fixe.  Look online - the menu is there.  It was delicious.  The wine selection is extensive. Delightful soaps and lotions in the rooms.  Quite a weekend away.

Absolutely Lovely

A close friend of mine was having an event in Rupert, VT, so... living in Los Angeles and not knowing the area at all, I did a quick search on TA and The Marble West Inn came up as an option.  I saw it was 15 minutes away and had an available room, so I booked it without much research.  Then... the event plans changed (don't ask!).  Since I booked through a 3rd party booking site - Agoda - and they have a 30-day no-cancelation policy, I couldn't cancel the room, which was definitely expensive for the area.  I called the hotel directly and Paul, the owner, was very understanding and helpful, but had nothing to do with the Agoda policy, which limits cancelation reasons to "death or extreme weather" so I either had to go to Vermont for the weekend, or lose the money.  My best friend and I decided to go.  And WOW.  We are SO glad we did.  This place is a gem, a find, a dreamy slice of loveliness and all the other positive descriptors I can think of to write about an inn in Vermont.  We want to move in.  

We had no idea about the food there.  And its ALL about the food there.  Everything is locally sourced - expertly crafted - beautifully prepared.  It's in the Michelin guidebook! So clearly, I'm not the only one who realizes how extraordinary this place is... but what I want to say that hasn't already been said, is that there is something else, beyond the food, and the lovely setting, the comfortable beds and the excellent coffee, that makes it special: the kindness. 

I've been fortunate to have been able to stay at some well-known, luxury hotels and of course, the service is always top-notch.  But it's always clear that people are just doing their jobs.  At the Marble West, it's more than a job for Paul and Julia... it's their home.  and the kindness that they show to their guests - the attention to detail - from the curation of the perfect wine list to the lap blankets for the front porch rocking chairs - is unlike anywhere else.  I'm so glad I went.

The Happiest Accident Ever!

My wife and I were in Dorset for a wedding and we are so glad we booked a room at the Marble West Inn! Excellent, comfortable room and a very attentive helpful staff. Great location close to Dorset favorites. Highly recommended.

Personal service in a serene setting

The style and comfort of The Marble West Inn are perfect- it’s a NYC boutique hotel in a historic Vermont house.  The Inn is tucked away in a beautiful, quiet, residential area of Dorset which adds to its charm.  There was a babbling brook behind the property that we could hear from our room when we opened the windows - simply heaven. The Innkeepers Julia and Paul are truly gifted chefs- so the food experience was far far beyond expectations. Paul is wonderfully engaging in that he shares his knowledge of food, wine, cocktails, and spirits without any pretense. This is a truly special place to enjoy.  We are already planning our next trip to The Marble West Inn!
