Take a step back in time to the classic roadside motel. You will find a comfy  bed and pillows, fast WiFi, sufficient TV options . Very  clean and quiet. Plenty of parking . 
Close to many restaurants.

No frills but all you need for a pleasant stay in central PA

A pleasant stay in Central PA

We stayed for one night. I was a little disappointed with the room as it was tired and needed updating.  We had an issue with no wifi in our room so we were moved without any fuss. Second room was better but still needed some updating.  I don't think I would stay here again 

Tired, needs a little tlc

The room was perfect for an overnight stay. The room was nothing fancy, but exceptionally clean. We got a good nights sleep, even though it was close to a highway. The staff working was very nice and helpful. 

Great place for a good nights sleep

An old fashioned motor lodge that still has the old traditional motel keys. It is very clean and well maintained for a motel of this kind. We have stayed here a number of times. Depending on which room you get you might get a very comfortable bed or one than sags a bit. The pillows are generally flat. No in room coffee machine but has a microwave. The Wifi was always working well when we were there. Streaming devices will not work with the hotel's TV as it is locked in hotel mode. 

Well Maintained Motor Lodge

Our stay was very enjoyable. Great pizza place up the road.(best way pizza). The hotel was clean and comfy. Great place for Penn St. Graduation. 45 minutes from State College. Easy drive. Friendly hotel staff. We had a different  hotel booked that was a nightmare. 

A life saving hotel

We were looking to stay an extra day in Pennsylvania, moving up from Gettysburg to the Altoona area. For some reason the chain hotels in and around Altoona were priced high (incongruously). We ended up booking this old style motel based on Booking.com reviews but based on the low price didn't really know what to expect.

The property is well kept. Outside of the drapes, which could use an update, everything is in great repair or new and very, very clean (the plethora of white pleated lampshades in the room, every one immaculate, is the final test - there's nothing harder to keep clean than pleated cloth lampshades). Fridge and microwave in room as well as toiletries (more than we got at lodging with more stars this trip - they've all gone to dispensers or use packets). Bed was comfortable. Pink tile in bathroom (circa 1955) lends that really retro air, but with new sink and granite counter...the owners really are keeping the place up.

Tea and coffee, along with bottled water, in the office in the morning (along with a very unique hodgepodge of mini muffins, gelatins, puddings, candy and snack cakes).

We also chose the motel because it is pet friendly. Really, if you just want comfortable and clean, a good night's sleep...it sure beats paying twice as much for just about the same thing (minus the pink tile).

Pleasantly Surprised

I would give the clerk a 10 star rating for the fact that we didn't get there until 1:15am, and he was waiting for us. The rooms were bigger then a lot of others. It is an older motel but for the price it can't be beat. Only negative is the carpets need a deep clean.

Late check in

I have stayed at this lodge about two dozen times over the course of ten years. I  used to love it - outdated and all. Used to be very clean. In the last couple of years, the place has gone down hill a bit. Today's stay, however, is the last straw. Necessary travel (gravely ill parent in local hospital) during Covid is already stressful. I had to ask the desk clerk to wear a mask... The room smells of sweat and smoke. Thankful I had my sleeping bag in the car so that I could place it on top of the sheets. I brought all purpose cleaner to hit the surfaces of frequently touched areas. The cloth I used was really dirty after wiping down the bathroom. I am so disappointed.

Used to be a great spot

This is the kind of sleepy little motel that was popular in the 50's and 60's when more people traveled by car and there werent lots of big-chain hotels around.  You still get an actual key to open your door and not an electronic card.  The ice machine is near the lobby. The room itself was quite spacious and I got a king bed with a large dresser and two small tables in the room.  Flat screen TV was decent but not huge.  Channel selection was from satellite so a very good list of channels.  The mini fridge and microwave worked great.  The bathroom was clean and shower had plenty of hot water.  The WiFi was pretty fast.  Very quiet at night and no shady people walking around.  There is a Sheetz convenience store right up the road, and also a cool ice cream stand.  Parking was right in front of the room which makes it easy to unload.  I highly recommend staying here if you are in the Altoona area!

Great little Mom & Pop motel

Hotel is a bit outdated, but I knew that when I booked our reservation.  The room was clean and the water was HOT.  Micro, fridge and hairdryer in room.  Coffee available in office, however we had already hit the road before that was available in the morning. Check in was easy and friendly. The only item I wished was with a king bed to have more than 4 standard size pillows.  But, that is just our opinion as we each usually sleep with 3 pillows.  I could have brought a couple with me, but forgot to throw they in the truck.
