We were a group of 7 and stayed at the Dog Trot House. Everything was absolutely clean and well equipped. The house is very spacious, authentic, but with a touch of modern confort (AC) that was highly enjoyable. The property is huge and very beautiful and there's a lot to do on site. DIY barbecue at night was probably one of the tastiest meal I've ever had ! Activities are great, for kids and adults. The staff have been amazing... They've been extremely helpful and reactive when we prepared our stay. Also very efficient on site. Everything was absolutely perfect ! I miss Blisswood and will come back again for sure !

Lifetime Memories ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We loved Blisswood for our small elopement! When we first arrived at Blisswood, there was a magical feeling that fell upon us as we listened to the car tires crunching the loose gravel and the huge canopy of trees that expanded across the road leading to our Enchanted Cabin. The cabin was like a little doll-house among all the green trees. Our cabin was equipped with a fire pit outside, a hot tub, and a jacuzzi inside the master bedroom. We enjoyed riding horses, picnic lunches, and roasting s'mores by the fire at night. Most of all, we enjoyed the complete serenity of gazing up at the stars at night and drinking our coffee on the porch in the morning. Just complete relaxation after the busyness of organizing a wedding and the hectic lifestyle of the city. I enjoyed listening to the mooing of the cows at night and the singing birds in the morning! We will definitely be back to this magical place!   

A magical place under the canopy of lush, green trees! 

Me and my family stayed at the Lehmann house for two days. The stay was amazing. Like in an american cowboy movie.

We loved it and will come back. Really recomend it for everyone who is out for an edventure.

10+++  this place deserves 10 million stars I could not even begin to tell you the incredible experience that we had. We got the Safari Room absolutely amazing and beautiful any request that we made she made it happen the horse ride with the picnic afterwards. Nice, romantic picnic for two everything was so beautifully, set up and ready and waiting for us there, I booked the birthday package for my husband’s birthday and did a Romance package. They were beautiful rose petals upon arrival a man’s bouquet of beef jerky balloons, banners and a cake. Everything looked so professional and beautiful . This place was better than any 10 star resort. You could possibly think of everybody was so accommodating it was an absolutely amazing adventure . We were spaced apart from other people, so we had to complete privacy. The only neighbors were the donkeys, deer,, and buffaloes!!  Fridge  had an amazing assortment of food and drinks. The only disappointment was having to leave.

Incredibly amazing, beautiful, peaceful, romantic 

As my wife and I drove past the lake welcoming you to the property, I knew we were in for a relaxing few days. This feeling only intensified as we pulled up to the Mystic Woods Cabin. The cozy cabin reminded us of where we stayed the night of our wedding. A cozy bed, table, and quaint kitchen all brought feelings of peace and comfort to the wooden area surrounding our cabin. Needless to say, we had a blissful time in the cabin. Additionally, walking to the property is a joy. Cows, horses, and donkeys graze in the fields neighboring the cabin property. The sight of them helps keep the mind focused on their slow and peaceful pace and forget the outside world seemingly hundreds of miles off on another continent. The owner, Carol was very helpful in providing information and directions as needed. Otherwise, she allowed us to simply enjoy to peacefulness of the environment she helped create. We will certainly return and we cannot wait to stay in another one of the beautiful cabins on the property.

A Peace-Filled Retreat

REVIEW: 	The approach to BlissWood was a step away from everyday life, revealing peace and serenity as we passed huge moss-covered trees that opened up to pastures with beautiful white Paso Fino horses grazing.  Our Mystic Woods cabin set back in the thicket was cozy, warm, and inviting.  The outdoor spa and shower were a bonus.  The Safari Ride got us up close and personal to hand-feed bison, deer, emu, and miniature burros.  Really enjoyed the trail-ride, and the horse I rode, Duke, had an easy gait, and extreme responsiveness was a plus.  Archery with the sun beginning to set was enhanced by the new families of goats in the pen, the horses galloping by in the pasture, and the curiosity of the miniature burros coming by to check us out.
Carol, the owner, was always accessible and accommodating.  The Guest Service director, Skeeter, was very entertaining, knowledgeable, and vigilant during the Safari ride, and more.  Jessica was a great trail guide. 
This was a most memorable experience, and we recommend it most highly to any seeking a tranquil getaway in a ranch setting filled with many optional activities.  We plan on returning soon ourselves.

Blisswood, a unique experience in the woods of southeast Texas

Lovely relaxing place to stay! Fantastic activities to take part in! Skeeter is a highlight! Entertaining and full of knowledge and experience of the animals and ranch. Highly recommend this place to anyone needing a quiet relaxing place.

We did the horse riding, archery, trap shooting and the feeding safari tour. The feeding safari was a highlight thanks to Skeete

Absolutely wonderfull get away om a ranch in a secluded cabin! 
Skeeter gave us The best time, taking us out to see all The animals and letting us help with The feeding! 
We went fishing and just sat on The porch drinking wine and enjoying life!
One Should be prepared for The rustic furniture - The bed was a little squeeki but it all had its charm! 
Everything you could need was in The cabin and The breakfast was really good! There was a lot of food!

Wonderfull get away

Do yourself and your soul a huge favor and plan a trip to this incredible haven for people and animals. Picture oaks and ponds and emu  and grass lands close but not too close to a lovely small town with a bakery and grocery …. Thank you to Carol and Skeeter for their kindness and hospitality. Dog friendly, great parking, wine and beer available at the grocery store ( I’m from Utah and this is not an option 😊) We didn’t want to leave but will be back!

Bliss Perfect!

After 2 years of COVID separation, we were able to were happy to gather our 2 children, their spouses and our 5 grandchildren (ages 2-11) at Blisswood. Carol was very helpful in arranging our accommodations (Log Cabin, Ranch House Studio and Texas Farmhouse) that allowed for a huge, safe and enclosed area for the children (and adults) to run around freely. We stayed for 4 nights, which was perfect for us. We particularly enjoyed horseback riding daily in various and skill-appropriate groups, and the fun activities in the show barn, from ring toss to archery.
A highlight was the animal feeding safari, where we were able to get close to and feed a variety of animals from huge American bison to a family of ring-tailed lemurs and lots in between. We all enjoyed exploring the spacious and picturesque grounds on foot as well. Although BlissWood is just a little over an hour from Houston, the difference is like night and day. We loved the fresh air, star-filled night sky and absence of concrete and noise.
A huge shout out to Skeeter Hagler, the "concierge". He is an extremely friendly and personable man who seemed to do everything, from meeting us at the gate when we arrived after dark, to running the animal safari. All of us fell in love with him, and his delightful personality and approachability set the perfect tone for our time at BlissWood. On top of everything else, he is a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer (really!). Kudos also to Jessica, our wrangler.
