Holy S*it are you in for a surprise !! let me start by saying it was an interesting stay..lol  started out with check in was met by a guy cleaning he's 12 ga. shot gun !! who told his daughter to get us a room. when going  to the room on the 2nd floor the floor was creaking like it was going to brake. got to the room, room are very old..wall paper looks like the 1800's pealing in closet... woke in the morning to something flying in the room, think it was a Bat!!..on the upside they have breakfast on site.. 

Interesting stay

I love the Colonial In been going there with my kids since they first stared skiing. It is old and rustic a step back in time. I am relaxed and able to feel at home. There will be people that do not like the place those folks can go elsewhere :-} The folks that see the place the way it is and can appreciate a place over 100 years old will have a good stay. I sat with Steve as he told me his story on how he came about getting this place. He made a great life here and it shows. You see how people appreciate the love that is in this place that Steve created in it.  

Old Rustic Home

I can't believe I haven't found this place for as long as I've been getting lost in the Catskills!!!

Native New Yorker STEVE is a quintessential INNKEEPER and this place, built in 1790, has a RICH HISTORY, AMAZING ARTIFACTS and HISTORY!!!

If you love AMERICANA - YOU NEEEED TO VISIT THIS PLACE AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE!!!

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

Booked a weekend at the colonial inn had friends camping at north/south campgrounds, arrived in the afternoon, went to check in and was greeted my  a nice young lady who told us to talk to her dad to check in...was met by an older gentleman CLEANING HIS RIFLE...lol that was an indication  of things to come.. checked into the room where I found everything hooked up to extension cords..the place looked like something you would see in a horror movie.. the kind of place you would find Lizzy borden..ceiling tiles water stained...hasn't been updated in 50 yrs...on the bright side woke up to a bat flying around the room @ 5:30 on the morning...

Horror in the Catskills

We came here with a few friends to have some drinks at the bar after staying at the emerson which turned out to be a nightmare there as well with the terrible food and tacky service. The bartender was horrible. It was also very dirty here.

Scary

Somewhere between funky/unique or ramshackle. was considering walking out but stayed . we were treated really well but you need to lower your expectations here and enjoy the varied company. A real experience.There i mAy 2018 but below did not give that option

Funky ???

This historic inn is fascinating.  The wide porch and public living areas are decorated with so much history and lovely varied antiques it could qualify as a museum.  The bar area is inviting.  The owner and his family made us feel very welcome.  The stay is affordably priced.  The rooms are old, and perhaps could use some updating,  but the room was clean, the mattress comfortable and the water plenty hot!  Breakfast was good cooked to order and the coffee also good.  To find an inn that was built in 1790!!!  still in business is incredible.  I would recommend this as a place to stop for refreshment  and great conversation.  One of a kind.

Unique inn with wonderful owners

We were travelling through upstate NY and found this hotel on booking.com - the pictures were nice and the reviews were good - however when we got there all of this information was very misleading. The pictures must be from 20 years ago and the reviews fabricated - from the junk piled on the porch to the extension cords all over the front desk we knew this was risky place to stay. When we got to the room It was worse. The room door and frame were so out of whack here was a 1/2 " gap between the two. The door also had gouges in it so bad it indicated to me that the room had been broken into a number of times. the drop ceiling was stained and starting to fall in. The flourescent light was old and provided poor lighting. This place is an electrical and structural danger - it was so bad we left  after 1 hour and not even asking for a refund. The reason I mention booking.com is that I wrote the same review and they rejected it - be warned about booking with them as well

DO NOT STAY

Thank you very much to Steve and his daughter for an incredible stay at the Colonial Inn and Restaurant. As someone who has never been to the Catskills, I can say without a doubt that this establishment treats their guests well.

Great Slice of Americana Tucked in the Catskills!

The Edwardian House Charm Hotel (not a chain hotel), Charm Street West 22nd Street, with a single lane of traffic (quietly), and trees blooming when they are dying in East Manhattan. No elevator but we can help you with luggage a wide variety of rooms (apartment, room with bathroom or not). To pay my professional expenses, take the simplest one that suited perfectly. Breakfast very well: toaster egg,... Every time: I see a customer (American and foreign) who is like me: no, atmosphere only at the very nice lunch with classical music.
