Out of desperation we had to choose Indian Flats camp grounds, more than half of the campgrounds in the park were closed. If you are looking for the true outdoor camping experience, keep looking. Tent sights are right on top of each other and most of them are in the sun. They allow large groups of up to 8 tents on one small site and the bathrooms were just gross. If a health inspector had shown up, they would have been shut down at once. Pretty sure the showers were never cleaned and what I found in one of the stalls was too disgusting to mention.   Their idea of stocking the toilets was to leave out a box of TP so that you could grab it if it was empty. So glad I will never be in that area again. 

Keep looking

I was a bit hesitant about this place because of the reviews, but that was not very necessary. Be aware of a few things before booking here though:
- There is no AC in the tent, so don't be surprised if it's 94F when you arrive in summer, and cooler at night (around 65F)
- Toilet/bathroom is shared
- There is no cell reception at this place, but they offer wifi (for $10)
- Staying in a tent can be quite noisy - you hear everything going on outside. Bring earplugs and you will be fine
The tent was clean and felt more like a cabin than a tent with proper flooring, a mirror, fridge, nightstand and a row of hooks. I really liked that it had a fridge (since you shouldn't store food in your car because of bears) and that there was a microwave both at the reception and at the neighbouring lot's reception. If you're staying here, get some easy breakfast/dinner at the store next to the reception of Cedar Lodge. You can also go swimming in the pool there for free. We chose to swim in the river instead, which was great! The shared bathroom was clean and had enough soap/paper when we were there. Be prepared for simplicity, but other than that, this is a good choice to stay cheap & close to the entrance of Yosemite. It also felt very safe, even walking to the bathroom at night. 
What should be better at this place is:
- less noisy AC, we stayed in the tent closest to the owner's house and the AC made A LOT of noise. People who were there only 1 night got the better cabins...
- The reception should be available for guests to use the microwave, sometimes it was closed/they were on break so we had to go to the neighbouring place.

Fine for camping

Based on some of the reviews I read I thought I wouldn’t be taking any showers or using their bathrooms, but our experience was they were not bad at all!  In talking with the front desk they have been working on improvements with more to come.  The cranky man mentioned in several reviews left in 2021 and the new staff is very helpful.  They admit the phone doesn’t ring often as they have gone online for reservations.  We would definitely stay again.  I do recommend reservations as I was shocked each time I went to the office that numerous people drove up hopefully to be accommodated and Indian Flats was sold out.  There is a first come first served campground across the river on the other side of the street.

Very Pleasantly Surprised!

We booked a cabin because we were hiking Half Dome and thought we'd like the extra comfort over a tent after the 10-hour hike.

We got back to our cabin in the dark and discovered there was no hot water. We would have been much more comfortable camping in the valley, and we would have had access to a hot shower and cell phone service.

Tried contacting the owners twice about this, but no response.

This place could be so much better, unfortunately, it's just not worth it.

No hot water in the cabins @ $200+ per night

Site are very small and uneven/sloping. No privacy whatsoever. Campground is extremely close to the highway, so there’s a lot of road noise. After hours check in wasn’t very smooth/straightforward. But it’s close to the east entrance into Yosemite, so it’s pretty convenient…

Ok campground close to Yosemite

We have a small (26 ft) motor home, and my husband called and made a reservation over the phone. However, the site we had been allocated was too narrow, and only suitable for a van with no slide outs. The nice young man worked with us and on the 3rd site suggestion we found one that worked. However, it was still narrow, and the site sloped so we only had a narrow stretch of flat ground on the living side of our motor home, so we had to sit at the back, or front of our motor home, and we could almost shake hands with the neighbor on the other side through our windows. Bottom line, several sites are narrow, and you’ll need blocks to get even. Sites 118 - 123 are bigger. Not surprisingly for the area, its a bit dusty. However, it’s a great location for visiting Yosemite, we took the YART bus at the Cedar Lodge next door into the park. We were also allowed to use the pool at Cedar Lodge, which was great. We’d stay again, just in a bigger site. Some site are full hook ups.

30 mins from Yosemite

Stopped here as we left Yosemite for one night.  Would have stayed longer if we didn’t have somewhere else to be. Clean showers and bathrooms.   My husband and I like to play music and sing when we camp. We meet so many friendly people this way.  Acoustic guitar and micro bass.  We play quietly and our neighbors usually ask to sit and listen, sometimes joining in with us.  We had a great time and would stay again if we are ever out that way again.

Had such a good time here

Those reviewers who gave this place a 1 out of 5 and only have 1 review you should be hesitant to believe those types of reviews fully but there is slight truth to them. 

I am a DE for San Diego and I take pride in leaving fair and honest reviews. I am giving this place a 3 out of 5. The tent sites are too close together so expect little to no privacy. We felt as if it was hostel style campsite. It’s too close to Highway 140. Can hear passing cars. The tent site have little vegetation and it’s mostly on dirt. The bear boxes are a complete joke and don’t fit large items. 

On the positive side, the bathrooms and showers are clean and well maintained. Water was steaming hot and the sinks for dishes and other uses were good. This place is also a 15 min drive from the Arch Rock entrance. If you want to camp, although this is not really camping in my opinion, do yourself a favor and pay the extra cash to stay in a hotel nearby. It’s worth it. I attached photos for reference. 

WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN

Terrible experience and we didn’t even stay there! After multiple email attempts to book a site with no reply I finally called and after 3 days of calling I finally got through.  That should have been my first sign right there.  I booked a site months in advance.  As the trip drew closer I called and confirmed our stay a week before we arrived.  The day finally came and we drove 3 hrs to get there.  We arrived and when I tried to check in no one was to be found.  I went to the office door and was very rudely told to get out by some random guy.  Finally the manager (I’m assuming) came to the door and was nothing but rude and unprofessional with me.  I told him I was checking in and he just said, no you’re not, we are closed! I explained that I even confirmed a week ago.  He denied ever talking to me and said I had to leave.  I explained we drove a long ways he didn’t care, he told us to go camp along the road somewhere.  I then said he should have called all his reservation holders to let them know they closed.  He responded with, well I figured you knew, that everyone knew!  I then walked out and left.  He was so unprofessional and rude.  I will never give this place a dime of my money and caution anyone that he obviously doesn’t respect reservations or his customers.

You’ve Been Warned!

Staff member enter your rooms and items "disappear"! Management seemed to be okay with staff being dishonest. 
We had to engage the POLICE, sure hope they will put the staff in place. 

The bathroom is not for humans: filthy, stink, sticky. 

With this attitude and horrible conditions - take your money elsewhere
