Stayed here on the 24th and 25th of January 2024. They charged us $100 deposit. We went into the room and it smelt like stale old cigarettes. There is a no smoking policy at this Motel. The bed sheet was stained with blood. And the mattress cover was stained with what appeared to be urine and fecal stains. The mattress cover smelled very bad, like body fluids. And we had to argue for quite some time to get the bedding changed since it was not to sanitary standards to sleep on. This room is an ADA room. They absorbed our deposit because they claimed we stained a hand towel. The hand towel was used to dry our freshly washed hands. None of the towels were stained that we left behind.

Poorly managed motel

Do NOT stay here. I got there, there was water leaking from the refrigerator,  towel rack was broken , room smelled like urine, one of the locks on the door was broken. A few days after I checked out I noticed they didn't refund me my $100 deposit, even though the room was left clean. They said on the phone when I called (though NEVER told me when I was actually there) that they charge $25 per use of each towel. What the heck? I called corporate and they said they do NOT charge for towels. I called the front desk and the lady I spoke to was really rude and said they did. So I disputed the charge. Luckily my bank sided with me, but I will NEVER stay at this dump again.

Stay FAR away from here!

We left before even unlocking our door!! Got our deposit back but lost our hotel fee. This place posted quiet hours after 7:00 pm and No Smoking. We arrived after 8 and people (apparently "residents") were hanging outside their rooms, both upstairs and downstairs, drinking and smoking. We asked to move our room because it was in the back in a dark area. Before we even unlocked our door to an upstairs room, there were uncomfortable characters lurking around our door. Didn't feel safe.

The story begins on my east bound side of the trip. I called the hotel to check out a detail and the clerk who answered made it sound like a dive. Said the maids didn’t show up book at your own risk…
I skipped but after 2 other M6 stays on the way out and 3 heading back west I decided to gamble…
I requested a first floor room I have 2 small dogs that don’t like stairs. One is a tripod. They gave me a second floor room in the most in accessible corner of the building overlooking a pool being sand blasted. The (guests?) in front looked like homeless, there was a sign on the door quiet time 7pm to 7am…
No one was at the desk, I tried calling out no one there. So I left. Got 3/4 the way to the car and a woman comes up the sidewalk won’t let me leave. Goes in and apparently I was the only reservation of the day. She called me by name.
My card was charged $64.00 at check in. After seeing the guy sandblasting I decided I’d eat the loss and find another place down the street.
This morning I got up and found my card had been charged a second time during night audit, this time for $100.00 I tried contacting hotel and motel 6 I couldn’t get anyone anywhere. Not even their automated customer care thing worked. This was the LAST time I ever try motel 6. The downside risk is just to much. They don’t have any quality control any longer.

Worst feeling Motel 6 I have ever seen

I was immediately creeped out, just upon driving up to the property. I went in and checked in. I went into the hotel room, which was dirty, there were flies inside, the air conditioning was on high, cool, but the room was hot. The toilet wasn’t even bolted to the floor. I am mediately went to the front desk and asked for a refund. There was a man walking around with a club in his hand, and several people drinking and smoking outside of their rooms. The nicest car probably was worth $1000. I know that the rooms have been renovated, but this place was worse than a homeless shelter. I’ve stayed in motel sixes at this price point before, but this was by far the worst!!

Ruuuuuun away!!

This room was absolutely filthy! It looked like it had never been cleaned. The toilet had poo on it. The windowsill was covered in dirt as was the floor. There were greasy hand and finger prints on the bathroom wall and door. The wall next to the bed had sticky red stuff stuck to it. There was a noise that sounded like water running all night long so there was no restful sleep to be had. There was a microwave but it needed to be cleaned just like everything else in the room. The table between the beds still had sticky rings from cups. It didn't have a fridge either or an in room coffee pot and the coffee in the office was rarely filled.

You’ve been warned. I don’t expect much from a Motel 6, but this place is beyond foul. The linens are stained, dingy and disgusting, I had to ask for a new pillow because the one on my bed had a half dollar sized bright red blood stain on it. I closed my eyes at the other stains on the sheets and pillow cases. The front office worker was nice enough and apologized for the nasty mess - but a replacement pillow took longer than my pizza delivery and I never did get the replacement pillow case. I feel the pillows, towels, and linens were bought in 2002 at goodwill… I would rather drive all night than stay here again…

Gross - stay away

Tracy was very helpful in helping me with a complicated reservation for my son. I am grateful for her knowledge in a complex request for this reservation. 
My son says the room was perfect and nicely furnished and sparkling clean!

Excellent help with check in at this Motel 6 in Elko NV

We are done with this place!  We have given them every chance and we just won't be going back – EVER!

Why, you ask? Ok, the first time we were given a rundown room in the back side of the property. We didn't complain because we have dogs with us and maybe that is standard protocol for people with pets. All we wanted was a clean, quiet room to get some sleep. But around 3am I am wakened by loud voices and laughing outside our room. I get up and open the door to our room and there is a young man sitting on the hood of our car talking to a man taping up a car as if it was going to be painted. I tell the guy that's my car and to get off of it. He says he's not hurting anything. I advance on him and he begrudgingly gets off and sits on the curb and continues to talk to his friend. I tell them both that people are trying to sleep and they say they will keep it down. I go back in and call the front desk. After like five minutes of ringing and no answer, I hang up and get dressed. I go out the door and head to the office. Half way there I hear squealing tires, crash after crash, metal crunching, people screaming and I turn and head back to our room. When I turn the corner a young black guy jumps out of a car that he has crashed through the fence with the car hanging over the property below. I look around and whoever was driving that car had deliberately smashed into parked cars in the motel parking lot before he crashed through the property fence. Luckily he did not hit our car. Then the cops show up. Knowing we couldn't get back to sleep with all the racket and upset, we just packed up and got back on the road. What a nightmare!

Months later we recently tried the Motel 6 again. Why? I really don't know...they take dogs in the rooms and Elko is our best city to stop in. But when I go to check in I am told that they had our reservations and we have a room in the front of the motel and it is all cleaned up and ready. I take the keys and approached the room only to find that the door was ajar and the lights were off. Cautiously I drew my gun and approached the door from the side and nudged the door open. Switching sides of the door I switched on the light and saw both beds unmade and all the pillows piled up against the headboard on one bed like someone had been watching TV. I cleared the bathroom and noted one of the towels had been used and was thrown on one of the beds. Whoever had been in the room was long gone.

I went to the office and interrupted the clerk as she was checking in a walk-in customer. I told her she needed to see the room that she said “was all cleaned up.” She and the other customer came with me. All she said was “I need to call the owner.”  I eventually got another room but again it was in the back where we had problems before. She said all the “long term guests” - meaning homeless people I assume that the motel rents to the city or county to make money, had been moved into the other wing. Being exhausted, we just used that room that had been “upgraded”. Sure they had put down laminate floors and installed new furniture and beds but the holes put into the walls had been sloppily plastered over. As well, the bath fan was hanging out of the wall as was the smoke detector hanging down from the ceiling. (Isn't that a fire code violation?) Two bars of their Motel 6 soap had been tossed into the sink and two bath towels set on the counter. That pissed my wife off and she went to the office and got hand towels, wash cloths. etc. The clerk was very nice. No worries during the night but when we went to leave around seven the next morning my wife went into office to get coffee and the clerk, some guy with a ponytail said he would get right on making coffee. We just left. Sheesh!

And to note: this same guy when I went into the office on yet another trip informed me they had no rooms available. I said ”That's ok, we have reservations.” He tells me they have no rooms left available period. I again said we have reservations. He asked when we made them and I told him four days ago. Then he says they don't hold reservations that long. I raised my voice and said “What the hell do you mean you don't hold reservations?!” About this time a housekeeper heard this and came in from a room next door. She moved him aside from the computer and asked for my name. I gave it to her and she turned to the clerk and said “They DO have reservations.” He again says they have no rooms available. She was very polite to us and said she was off duty but would go clean up a room for us. In ten minutes she was back and walked us to a room. I put my room key in the lock but it did not work. My wife tried hers but no go either. The lady used her pass key and unlocked the door for us. She had done an excellent job on the room and had even turned down the beds for us. Thanked her profusely and my wife went down to get another set of room keys since both of the ones he made for the room didn't work. She came back with two new keys – neither of them worked either! Again Sheesh!

Now we still use Motel 6 in other cities. We especially like the one in Green River, Utah. They always have coffee and if the pot up front runs out, they have a new pot already made in back!  The beds are really nice and comfortable and they don't put us in shabby rooms just because we have dogs with us. The rooms always come with a fridge and microwave and the room prices are always less too than Elko. Highly recommend them!

So we are done with Motel 6 in Elko! They take reservations but don't honor them. They have homeless people stashed in one wing of the motel. They let motel staff sleep in rooms next to where travelers are trying to sleep. And they let motel staff lounge in customers rooms watching TV and then scamper off and leave a mess. Now I really don't know if they had any control over that guy driving a stolen car through the parking lot smashing into peoples cars, but hey, the right thing to do would be to comp the rooms to the people disadvantaged – especially those with smashed up cars. But no, the clerk just went somewhere else and hid.

There are other more reputable hotels and motels in Elko. Go to one of them! We are done with this place!

I have traveled a great deal throughout the United States, frequently staying at budget motels, to include Motel 6s. While some Motel 6s have been reasonable considering the price range, this Motel 6 stands out as one of the worse.
The grounds are absolutly filthy, with garbage and stains throughout. Also, I noticed a used hypodermic syringe near the front of the motel.
The room was acceptable,except for a minimal amount of heat, if any, coming from  the vent, even when set on high. The overnight temperatures were around 38 degrees (F). Bedding was only two thin sheets and a thin bedcovering, no blankets of any kind. We both shivered through the night and could not sleep.
Give this place a pass, it was terrible.
