This place should be condemned! This is the worst of the worst place I have ever stayed in. If you like ROACHES in your bed well you've got it. And the management was extremely professional.  Good luck if you book a room here. You will definitely regret it!!!!!!!

Would give it zero stars if I could. Claimed the rooms were clean and sanitized but the dirt and dust on every surface said that was a lie. Great location but not worth the price given how gross the rooms are. I’d recommend paying a little bit more and finding somewhere that at least cleans the bathroom before new guests get there. And good luck getting help from the front desk, they’ll go out and “run errands” for over an hour with no way to contact them for any needs you may have. When they finally came back to the front desk I found out they had been hanging out at the beach for over an hour. Which is what me and my family were trying to do but couldn’t because (due to my forgetfulness) we were locked out of our room and had no one around to let us back in. Waited outside in the heat for over an hour while she was down at the beach drinking and perfecting her tan. I will never be going back here and I suggest that no one else does either. Spend a little bit more and stay somewhere that you can actually enjoy.

Worst Motel on the island!

Not bad place I've seen worse there fixing place up nice very friendly people that work here and have a heart when some people are in need of help. I have nothing bad to say about this place. I will be staying again.

Just wanted a good night sleep

This place is disgusting. I am upset that I got cheated out of money for this deceiving place. As soon as our family arrived, we immediately saw that the beds did not have new sheets and had hair from previous tenants and had so many dead cockroaches and bugs. The ac was so disgustingly dirty with dust that it was blowing out dead bugs,  the kitchen was disgusting with dirty nasty pots and pans, the stove was so dirty you can see grease and old food crumbs. This place posted photos to make you think it is a nice cozy place to stay, but it is nothing like the photos online.  We complained to the manager and they moved us to a new room only to find more cockroaches in that room. We felt deceived from the photos online and cheated out of money since we decided not to stay at this filthy place and was unable to get a full refund.   DO NOT waste your money or stay at this dump!!

Disgustingly deceived and cheated!

I have stayed in some shady places,, this my friend is the Nastiest place I have ever been! Needs to be condemned and burned.  140$ a night for black mold, broke windows and nasty rooms! All pics online are lies!

Keep Going

This place is in the throes of some level of renovation... this place would a better candidate for a scrape-off and total do-over. I am trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt because the manager kept telling us how bad it used to be… still had a long way to go… but was so much better.

The managers were nice enough and friendly too but the lady admitted to being very new to the job. We accidentally locked ourselves out and had to wake them up (at 8:30 a.m.) to let us back into the room. Amusing for someone to sleep late in the hotel management business, but revealing nonetheless. 

Overall, the memories we made here were not very favorable... Oak Grove in Salter Path, NC, definitely will be the topic of conversation for some time to come. I still feel itchy and gross when I think that we even stayed there. UGH. Terrible. Salter Path has a big red X to stay away because of this place, honestly. We stayed away from the room/area as much as possible. We talked to other tenants while out at the beach and all of us agreed that the place wasn't anything as advertised nor expected.

To be fair the location is pretty good, offers private access on a walkover to the Atlantic... and the area was not crowded. Lots and lots of trash strewn about the walkover and deck area. This was the only place that had a vacancy... for a very good reason!!! Just keep going if you can... AVOID.

So many negatives here, hard to know where to start. 

1. Bathroom window was open, tried to close it but the lock hasp was broken off. Had to use a stick to wedge it shut, manager's partner cut it down to fit. Did not keep anything of value in the room.

2. Roaches. They were abundant. The manager and assistant manager were walking around with a tank sprayer. And we know why... We didn't notice them until my husband felt one in the bed. Look, we come from Florida and bugs are a fact of life... but I have never, ever seen the level of infestation as bad as this. There were tiny ones trying to escape out of the bathroom sink, they were on the walls and ceiling. We sealed the suitcase up tight and kept everything else (save the dog’s supplies) in the car to avoid having them get into our stuff. Shook everything out again then took it to the laundry at the next place we stayed to be on the safe side. OMG. No bedbugs to report, fortunately. Continuing to itch though... nasty.

3. There was some sort of issue with our towels; apparently we had been given the managers' colorful towels which was discovered shortly after we checked in. She did get us our own clean towels, plus a washcloth as there was none provided initially. At first I think she must have thought we had stolen her towels from the open laundry area next to where we were staying. Just to reiterate, those were in the room, not sure who put them there and we sure didn’t steal anything (because we felt like we were being covertly accused).

4. Housekeeping was non-existent, the room itself was really dirty, though the sheets did look clean. I slept on top of the covers after the bug in the bed episode the first night. Even the dog slept fitfully on her own bed between us. There is a help-wanted sign out front for a housekeeper (picture included). None existed at the time we stayed there I guess.

5. No toiletries were provided save a small soap. There was a bonus soap left on the ledge of the shower stall though, even had short, curly hairs on it. Absolutely disgusting. Had to pluck it off using toilet paper. Gag.

6. Ongoing renovation and construction to the point where a workman was painting the concrete and we could barely get from the car to the room. Be wary of nails, broken glass and screws in the parking lot (another picture included).

7. Dogs allowed here (bonus.... no.... maybe not).

I cannot give a zero here, just take my word for it… you will want to take a hard pass on this place. Still itching when I think about it…

RUN! Do not walk from this place... roaches, dirty, misleading listing. Feel itchy just writing this review.

Roaches! Not Palmetto bugs and not just a few. Lots and lots of roaches! The place is very run down and neglected. No housekeeping! No trash taken out! No new towels or supplies. Pay a little more and stay anywhere else. Could be so much more if the owner cared!

Big Let Down

Don't stay here! We stayed here for 5 days. They never cleaned room or changed sheets. There was a broom in room, because you have to sweep it constantly! Gnats at night that bite. You have to pay for ice, because machine was broke. Worst place we ever stayed at!!! Save your time and money.

Big Mistake

The first impression was it was just older motel going through construction but that was no problem. On our second night we all noticed we were starting to itch. So with a little search we found bed bugs. We then proceeded to pack out belongings and leave. We let management know of the situation we found. The manager then thought it would be great to get an horrible attitude with my wife over the bugs. Do yourself a favor and avoid this motel!!!
