This is a gorgeous old house and the indoor areas are beautiful and well-kept. Outdoor areas are in need of maintenance. We came to this B&B expecting old house charm, some stories and a good breakfast. We came in and were immediately told that breakfast boxes are in the fridge. I asked about the breakfast and got two different answers: They don’t serve any hot breakfast or that the owner had a doctor appointment and could’t serve it. The rooms were quite chilly but only one of them had a heater. There are no locks in the room doors. It seems that the owner’s had their minds in other things than hosting us, as she told us they are moving abroad. If you are a breakfast person like us, you might want to double check before booking that you will actually get one. Kids seemed welcome in this B&B.

Emig Mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and fits in with the other 19th-century buildings along George Street. The building is raised above street level, with stairs leading up to one of two front doors. There is parking at the side and in the back where stairs lead down to an entrance. The side parking overlooks a soothing fountain and connects to a level walk, also leading to the back entrance. The grandeur of the place is quite visible, though there it could benefit from a touch-up of the paint on the trim, and weeding and trimming around the property. The Mansion generates fond memories in the community as related by one of the staff at a nearby restaurant who had their wedding reception there. Hopefully, some fixing up is underway before the summer season starts.

Back in July 2020 I had a lovely conversation with Bill Fitzell, the owner and I booked two nights for an October wedding. The reputation of the Emig Mansion has always been wonderful so my husband and I were looking forward to our trip. When we arrived on October 10th for our stay I searched the house for a caretaker but the home was unoccuppied. I was immediately alarmed at the condition of the property. Unpacked boxes and clutter was everywhere; wet, used towels on the sink, clothes on the floor, dirty kitchen counters and open community food. My husband has medical issues so I took photographs and continued to look for someone. When I walked outside I saw two young adults walking towards me. I nicely explained that the accommodations would be unsafe for my husband. Another woman, walked around from the back and said she was the owner now and I would not be getting my deposit back. None of them wore masks, there was no hand sanitizer anywhere in the home and I began to show her the photographs I took so she quickly said she would refund my $184.82 deposit and walked away. I called back the next day and she answered the phone as "Lori Blanc" and told me I would not be getting my money back and hung up on me. 
I have since researched the property and found it was sold on September 10th of this year.  Lori and Bill Fitzell's  pictures were still on the webpage. I reached out to Bill with my dilemma since I sent the deposit to him but he will not reply. The social distancing and safety measures posted are not being followed. I have attached a few of the many photographs to back up my review. Luckily my husband and I found a room at Tru by Hilton in York and we were AMAZED at the cleanliness and extra precautions taken. Everyone wore masks, areas were marked for maximum social distancing safety and our door was sealed until we entered. 
I feel it is disgraceful that this woman can keep my money and that the previous owners are not standing by the reservation I made with them. My advise is to see the property in person before you book anything. Perhaps things have changed but I doubt it! If you have had a similar experience, please post a review! COVID is no joke.

New Owner purchased property 9-10-20 and it is not as portrayed in photographs!

This is a beautiful B & B with a lot of history behind it. Our hosts Bill and Lori are two of the nicest B & B owners we've had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know. Every morning we were served a delicious breakfast and Bill and Lori would come out and talk to us about the mansions history what our plans were and places we should try to visit and places to eat. The room we stayed in was clean and well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Actually for as large as the Mansion was it was the cleanest B & B we've ever stayed in. We hugged and bid them adieu (not goodbye) since we plan on going back to visit again (in the spring) since we didn't get to see/visit every place we wanted to due to the weather. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay with a terrific set of owners whom like to talk to and interact with their guests.

Quick getaway to visit York,PA breweries and historical sites in Harrisburg, PA.

This is a wonderful house to stay in, full of history, with knowledgeable, friendly owners.  Very comfy bed, and a delicious breakfast, sized just right.  A great start to our holiday in the US - chatting with Bill & Lori on the evening we stayed was a relaxing way to end our day of driving.  

Wonderful stay

I visited the mansion because I knew my grandmother grew up there. I booked a room because I wanted to donate a photo I had of my grandmother as a child seated in one of the windows of the home. I wanted to see her home at least once in my lifetime and I had only a limited amount of family history as told by grandmother before she passed. When I arrived I found Bill and Lori the hosts of the now bed and breakfast were loaded with stories of my family history. I could practically see my grandmother living and playing there as a child.They had a true love for the home, it's history, and treated it with loving care. All the rooms were sparkleing clean, beautifully decorated and had been updated for the personal comfort of the guests without losing the charm of the original home. The breakfast they served daily was amazing and because of them I feel like not only have I been able to touch my roots but it has altered my future and the future of my children, (Helen Emig's great great grandchildren) and our family forever. Whatever brings you to the area I highly recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed.

This place is absolutely beautiful,  the house is in great shape and has had immaculate restoration work done. It is filled with antique furniture and art, which makes it a real step back in time. The history of the property and the family who built is also fascinating and our hosts were more than happy to share their knowledge on the topic.  Overall the house was very clean and quiet, we had a delightful time there and wish we could have stayed longer. We had a lot of fun and are really looking forward to returning to this area. Bill and Lori, the owners and hosts, are very thoughtful and accommodating. Highly recommended!!

Enchanting place to stay

We can't think of enough kind things to say about Bill and Lori and this place.  They are simply the best hosts and the most beautiful property  This was the third time in two years that we have stayed here and we always look forward to the relaxed surroundings. They have truly spoiled us when it comes to staying at any other B & B. I am still taking pictures here every time we visit!

Never a disappointment

My mother and I were traveling along the east coast visiting family and friends and we happened upon this wonderful B & B!  The hosts were lovely and shared a lot about the history of the mansion. We had a wonderful breakfast and were on our way.

Spring East Coast Visit

We had an event set up that included dinner, breakfast, history, ghost stories & doing our own spirit hunting.   Had a marvelous time, dinner & breakfast was delicious. Beautiful mansion that steps you back in time.  The owner of the B&B marveled us with all the local history which I find incredibly fascinating.  We live in the York area but I love staying here, great for a nice little get away.  And we definitely can not forget about Tillie the official greeter kitty.   She loves greeting all the guests & hanging out with you for the evening.
