Emory does not have many choices for hotel accommodations.  In fact, it looks like it is the Best Western about a mile down the road or the Bent Tree Motel.  Of course, the Bent Tree is the more budget friendly option and that usually means significant drop offs in quality.  We saw the positive ratings for this motel and glad we saved about 45% with the Bent Tree.

Check in was easy and organized in the lobby, which has the motel's ice machine and cola machine.  The owner was very friendly and let us in early at no extra charge.  The room was extremely clean and the bedding was modern and nice.  If the AC Unit wasn't reasonably new, it sure looked new.  We needed some heat after a cold front moved in and the wall unit worked great.  

The postage stamp bathroom is a traditional feature of lots of motel rooms.  The bathroom was very clean and the shower had strong water pressure and lots of hot water.  The full sized coffee pot was fine and we had a microwave and refrigerator in the room.  The furniture had a few scratches, but not bad at all.  The room was big and the carpet seemed reasonably fresh.

You get an old school motel key that is actually a real key with a plastic tag.  There is a key drop in the lobby when you leave.  The front desk is not manned 24/7 and you certainly would not expect it to be.  However, contact info was always posted telling us where we could reach the owner immediately.  As far as this genre of motel goes, a clean, well kept room with DIRECT TV cable on a high mounted, flat screen TV gets a big thumbs up from us.

Minor gripes are the limited plug outlets in the room....typical of older motels.  My wife and I had to compete to charge our tablets and phones.  The hair dryer is a real pea-shooter (but standard for a small wall mount) and the Bent Tree could probably splurge for a tube of conditioner to go with the shampoo.  I am sure we could get extra coffee cups from the lobby, but our room only had one.  Really, not much to complain about.

The owner SHOULD wait for the rain to dry up and put some crushed concrete in that big crater in front of the lobby.  You can get around it, but hard to do in a pick up truck.  Hopefully, this will be on their Spring weather radar.

There is a Brookshire Grocery Store about a mile down the main road, close to the Best Western, for anything you need.  As mentioned by others, a Dairy Queen is right next door.

We were really pleased with the clean and spacious room, gracious service and comfortable beds.  I don't know if we will ever be back in the area, but we would absolutely stay here again.

Clean & Basic Rural Motel....Nice Stay

This place is nice we are from Minnesota traveling and the room is nice doesn’t have any funky smells..

Food close by walking distance 
On a 1-10 scale I would give it a 8 and you can park right in front of your door..

Very nice place

Very quiet, room for a car and a boat (no extra charge) and the manager is very nice. They are in the progress of renovating and the property should look great when they are done. Great place to stay for one of the events in town.  Thank you.

Nice and quiet.

Wonderful, small motel in Emory.  Recently  renovated room with new carpet, beds and linens.  Fantastic owners and staff.... everyone is very kind.  Will definitely stay here again if in the area.  Very reasonably priced as well!

Great place to stay

Very basic motel, but the owner is very nice and rooms are clean.  Free ice machine in the lobby is a big plus, as I usually stay there for fishing at Lake Fork.  The property is right next to a Dairy Queen, so an after dinner Blizzard is always an option.  Will stay there again (next week!!).

Solid Lodging Option in Emory

We arrive here late on Feb the 5th
Manager answered the desk promptly
 We get our room which took us some time to find
I really think he put us in one room and gave us a key to a different one
He told us where the room was and it was not there
The motel is cut up in little duplex type sections 
Door was a little hard to open
Get a light on and the room is really nice 
Fridge with freezer, microwave ,table and two chairs
You do not get  this in the high dollar places
The room rates were very reasonable
The Bathroom was the only problem you could not get it real warm
For most people it would not be an issue 
It is for me I need it really warm 
If you are looking for a bunch of hand maidens and a 5 course breakfast then this is not your  place to have tea and crumpets 
If you are wanting a nice clean room to sleep in and relax and shower and have a meal then step on in 
Food /places to eat are near by
You are only a few miles maybe 7 or 8 from what was once one of the hotest lakes to fish in Texas (LAKE FORK)  still a good lake . A lot of place to bank fish from 
If we did not have a lake lot near by we would stay here more often
We were on a road trip and our place was 15 miles away and no heat so we stopped in here 
Nice to know it is a good backup

Not a bad place for the money

clean rooms nice people but the A/C leaked on to the carpet and got it wet for about 10 sq.’. Left a strange smell in the room. The coffee maker and the microwave were hooked to the same Christmas extension cord and blew the circuit breaker. Don’t drink the in room coffee.🥴🥴🥴

Leaky A/C

My family has been coming to the Bent Tree since it first opened. Let me tell you the ways it had changed and why we WILL NOT return. 1. If you look online the rates are $72 - $69/night.  I get to the counter to check in $114/night.  When I expressed that this is in bad taste and if your rate is one thing and you double my price that's false advertising. He said that and I quote "I'm from California and it's fast paced  I raised the rates. I was brought in to make these people money."  My response was I get that but this has always been a place that if nothing else treats people right. I went on to say that if they're going to charge $114 I'll pay the extra $6 and get triple the amenities. His response again and I quote "well that's why I raised the rates to upgrade amenities."  Last I checked you don't raise the rates THEN upgrade. You use your money to complete the upgrades, THEN raise the rates. I'm paying for upgrades that haven't been started yet. 

2. My sister tried to cancel on Wednesday, within the 48hr cancel time frame. She called repeatedly leaving messages. When she finally reached someone, the next day, they actually stated they got her confirmation but they wouldn't honor it and she would have to pay for the night she didn't want. 

The bent tree has no pool, no bar, no rv hook ups, no breakfast and if you aren't treated well they don't have to answer to corporate. 

When you get to the room.... old keys(no key cards), doorknobs stuck and are hard to open, mini fridge doesn't open without excessive force, cigarette burns on furniture, bathroom door at first wouldn't open then when we got it open it wouldn't close, water damaged ceiling, bathroom counter torn up. The beds have new covers but it's the same mattresses(I've been sleeping on these mattresses for decades they aren't new).

The draw to the Bent Tree was it had affordable rates, they were hometown people that we enjoyed supporting, and they ALWAYS treated you right.  They valued the customer and the families of this city.  That is no longer the case. My family is one of the largest families in this city and we WILL take all our money to the Best Western. 

Great job losing a lifelong customer because you forgot your demographic. 

Bottom line go to the Best Western, you know what quality you're getting, you have waaaay more amenities, and the price is basically the same.

Save your time and go to the best Western

As someone who has stayed in the bent tree for over 20 years, I’m very disappointed. The rates are crazy for a non upgraded motel. $114/night on site but advertised price is $72 online. The new California manager says the are up charging so that they can do upgrades. So what you are telling me is that you are charging for amnesties that you DO NOT have, make it make sense. For what we paid for our 2 night stay, we could have went up the rd to the Best Western and gotten breakfast and pool access and saved another nights stay. As a long time patron of the Bent Tree, this is my last stay and the last dime they will ever get from my family.  Attached are a few pics of the room we stayed in and before you ask/comment why we stayed…he was going to charge us if we cancelled (good ole California customer service). I could not upload the video of the bathroom door you had to slam to get closed and the mini fridge door that would not open due to being flush on the “newer” carpet. Great job Bent Tree management.
