Lovely clean room. Had a sofa bed for the kids. Lovely and clean. 
Beautiful breakfast laid out when we arrived to enjoy in the room in the morning. 
Easy self check in. 
Nice to enjoy the hot tub and views across the fields (the fireflies were awesome but we were a little perplexed by the hovering lights late at night - drone or UFO!?)

Only disappointment was that we’d booked this to be in the heart of Amish country and would have enjoyed more interaction with the hosts/owners.

Every aspect of it is so welcoming 
and comfortable.  We have reserved 
the Hertzog Suite twice now in less
than a year.  You can not say enough 
of this place.

An absolutely GREAT place to relax

This is our favorite B&B to stay at when visiting the Lancaster area, something we generally do annually.  The innkeepers are top shelf.  The breakfasts provided each morning are delicious.  If you have special nutritional needs they will accommodate them to the best of their ability.

Coming Home To The Homestead

What a special experience it was for us to stay for two nights in the Historic Metzler Suite in the 1786 stone farm house with nine generations of Mennonite family history!  Everyone was so welcoming, and we made special memories on a tour with Kristen learning about the local Amish and Mennonite communities and meeting some of her very friendly neighbors. The breakfast casseroles, baked goods, and yogurt each morning made by one of her neighbors were delicious! We would highly recommend a stay to see all the surrounding Mennonite and Amish farmland and truly experience their family-oriented way of life. 

Relaxing, Peaceful, Historic Setting

My wife and I recently spent the night at Hertzog Homestead. Lancaster County is one of our favorite getaway  places. Could not  have asked for better accommodations. Everything was perfect. Great location close to attractions yet quite and private. Room was much more than just a bedroom, it was more like having your own apartment. Very clean and decorated for nice county atmosphere. And let’s not forget the good homemade breakfast. We can’t wait to return again. Thanks to everyone that works to make this place a fabulous B&B !

Fabulous Bed and Breakfast

Where to start. I just came home from an AMAZING vacation for my first time at Hertzog Homestead Bed and Breakfast. The scenery was breathtaking first off. Myself, mother, and brother stayed at Anselmo cottage. It was quaint, clean, and cozy. We were greeted by deliciously homemade pastries, muffins, and quiche, to have for the next morning. Every morning was more delicious surprises, neatly wrapped with a note - thanks Alma!

Last but not least, the Owners, Scott and Kristen, we're soooooo friendly, and really made us feel special and welcomed. They take such pride in the business, and it shows - from start to finish. I can't wait to visit them again. Thanks Hertzog Homestead for making our first visit there memorable. I encourage anyone looking for something a step above a traditional hotel, to visit Hertzog Homestead.

Wonderful and pleasant visit

We enjoy this B&B so much that this is our 7th or 8th time staying.  We make it a point to come once per year.  An amazing country setting, a delicious breakfast each morning made by Elva and Scott and Kristen are so hospitable.  This first thing we noticed this year was the new bridge.  It’s so pretty at nighttime!  Thanks to the Hertzogs for sharing their homestead!

7th time returning

Large, lovely room and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. You are on your own if you need help. I texted Scott with an issue. He never responded. Woman is very helpful on phone. Breakfast was very nice and mine was tailored to my dietary needs. We liked being able to eat whenever we wanted.  We would stay again if bed issue got resolved. Mattress was very hard and uncomfortable and wrapped in plastic which will cause sweating. Wooden bed is beautiful but noisy with any turn during the night.

Relaxing beautiful inn

I stayed here recently, because it looked nice online,and got great reviews.  i however was a little disappointed.  The setting is beautiful.  The B&B is located in the country, and is set on a farm.  Just what I was looking for.  The place was nice, but I saw spider webs behind the nightstand in my room.  The people that run the place were very upbeat and pleasant. The lady that answers the phone was a perfect example of customer service.  All the reviews I had read about this place, raved aboout the breakfast.  Well my partner and I thaough that the breakfast left something to be desired.  The first morning we tried the breakfast (it looked delicious)  and found it very bland.  The muffins were ok.  The second day I tasted a scone, took one bite and threw the rest in the garbage pail.  We did not eat our second breakfast there, but went to a nearby pancake house.  So much for a B&B.  I still give this place a good rating though, because it has all the elements of being a real classic, and superfine establishment.  It needs a little fine tuning.  I think maybe they have gotten a little complacent, due to their great reviews.  I most likely would stay there again, just for the ambience of the place.  I would however skip the breakfast.

Could be a tad better

As a child growing up in Lancaster, it was great to come home and enjoy the peaceful countryside. I am a Hans Herr descendent, and the history with antiques in the homestead was fascinating. Beautiful rooms-three families stayed here for several days and would come back whenever we are in the area. The breakfasts were amazing! The walk we took in the surrounding countryside Sunday morning was remarkable as Old Order Mennonites went to church at a nearby farm and rode their bikes, walked or used their horse and buggies. Beautiful children and friendly families waved as they passed.
