Great rooms in big house. The host (Fred) is very gracious, and provides every morning a nice breakfast. The B&B is more focused on "winter" guests to see the aurora; they definitely accommodate that. I would stay there again. especially the big (2nd floor) community room is nice and cozy.

We have been trying to contact them about our stay coming up. We had some issues  with the online reservation and have not received a call back or email response and we have been trying to contact them for over three months.. The customer service is absolutely horrible and we don’t even know if we have a place to stay. We are lost on what to do.

Customer service needs work

We have been trying to reach Grizzly Lodge since March 2024 for our cancelled trip -they do not respond to calls or emails & apparently are out of business !!!!! We have reached out to Fairbanks chamber of commerce & our credit card co is unable to reach them !! They have stolen $1200 from us

No response to our calls or emails ??

We booked using Booking.com in November 2023 (for September 2024).  I contacted the Lodge once and the person on the phone was pleasant.  In January 2024, I tried to reach the property again, and have not be able to reach them again --- January through May.  I have tried email, text, phone and message via Booking.com.  Nothing.  So now I have cancelled and fighting for my refund of over $1500.  I have involved Booking.com and my credit card.  Place sounds great, but something is amiss.

Good Luck Contacting Them

I have a different experience with this business. I booked 2 reservations for 2 couples in July last year for Sept 2024. I did this on booking.com. Sometime after that they were no longer on booking, but my 2 reservations still had "confirmed" status. I started messaging the property to re-confirm using the platform messaging, direct phone calls to the property (never had an answer, left voice msg), email msg, this went on for 2-3 weeks, NO answer whatsoever. I had to get booking.com involved, they track down the property, and told me the business canceled my reservations. I am very pissed that this business had no curtesy to tell me in my face, being so invasive, and no apologies! If you make a mistake, own it and apologize! Just image we would go on the trip and found out no where to stay! 
PS, I had to select a date for stay, I haven't stayed at this property.

Wonderful family owned and operated lodge outside of Fairbanks. Friendly, knowledgeable hosts. We spent 6 days at the lodge and felt like family by the time we left. Comfortable rooms, fabulous breakfasts, aurora opportunities, and friendly conversations. Fred and Janet had advice and brochures about restaurants, activities, and places to visit. They have laid out a short nature trail marked by red bird houses. We highly recommend this stay.

Northern lights and more 

We had a fantastic Fairbanks experience staying at the Alaska Grizzly Lodge. Fred and Janet are wonderful hosts! The lodge is comfortable, clean and friendly with a nice common space for relaxing and socializing.  Fred’s breakfasts are amazing! Janet’s Aurora wake up and viewing tips can’t be beat. And they have everything a visitor needs to enjoy Fairbanks, from restaurant menus to local tips to hiking poles. If you want to get the most of your Fairbanks visit and feel right at home, look no further! 

Fantastic Stay at Alaska Grizzly Lodge 

Great eclectic place.  Janet and Fred were delightful.  Room was comfortable and clean.  Breakfasts were AMAZING!  And one of of the best things was that at night, there was absolute quiet - no traffic or people noises, even with the windows open.  Fairbanks and surrounds and restaurants were short easy drives.

Great place to stay in the Fairbanks area

I would really recommend this lodge, especially for winter stay and northern lights trip. First of all, it's conveniently located away from city lights, to watch the northern lights,  but close enough to go for a dinner or activities. The location has signs posted to follow even if you do not follow GPS directions. The best feature - Janet will wake you up for Northern lights which is very convenient. The breakfast is also plentiful - they serve vegetarian choices as well and before the trip we even got a call from them asking about any request or allergies. They do care about your experience and will help with taking pictures and explaining about aurora. 

Great lodge

After reviewing places to see the Northern Lights near Fairbanks, we decided that the Alaska Grizzly Lodge B&B was the best place for us to see the Northern Lights based on our research. Because of a booking snafu (not the fault of the the Lodge) we were afforded the opportunity to spend a lot of time on the phone with Nina. She is a consummate professional and was extremely helpful. The experience at the Lodge was everything we anticipated and more. The owners, Janet and Fred, are warm and welcoming, assisted by their dogs, Tasha and Riley. Fred, Janet, Nina and the other guests offered lots of great ideas for things to do during the day. The common area of the Lodge is set up to feel like your living room/dining room where Fred's excellent breakfasts were served. Janet roused us (at our request) whatever time of night the Northern Lights started their show. Because of the original bookings issues we were afforded the opportunity to stay in 3 different rooms during our stay. Each room has its own personality, but all are comfortable, clean and well appointed. The Lodge is conveniently located to access the sights of Fairbanks during the day and is within a reasonable distance of several great restaurants. There are several nice walks from the Lodge including one that took us through the woods to see the Alaska Pipeline.  If you are going to Fairbanks to see the Aurora Borealis, this is the place to stay.
